When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 245: A Heated Argument
"But Faye, you’re pregnant. Can you be near patients?" The old man suddenly showed concern, "Will it have any effects on you?"
Faye Turner shook her head with a smile, "No, I can wear a mask. After all, Dad can’t be exposed to external bacteria either, he can wear a mask too."
The old man nodded thoughtfully, "Alright, alright, then let’s go now!"
So, Adrian Lancaster took Faye Turner, called for the grandfather, and together they stepped toward the backyard.
Eliza Hayes, who was in the Buddha hall, saw them and listened to their intentions, her cold gaze settled on Faye Turner, "Faye, what are you thinking?"
The girl was slightly stunned, not quite understanding her meaning immediately, thinking of saving a life.
Eliza Hayes let out a cold snort, her tone dripping with sarcasm, "So many famous doctors in the world couldn’t cure him, why do you think you can? You’re not even a doctor, what gives you the right to mess around?"
Faye knew she would resist, but couldn’t understand why. Taking a pulse doesn’t cost anything! Why is communication so difficult?
"Do you know the despair that comes after hope? Little girl, have you ever experienced it?" Eliza Hayes withdrew her gaze, "You’re just trying to win praise, hoping to show your skills in front of Grandpa and Adrian Lancaster, without ever considering my feelings!"
"Mom, it’s just taking a pulse, I think you’re overstating it," Adrian Lancaster politely defended his wife, "Faye has good intentions, hoping for my Dad’s recovery. Since there’s hope, hope is within us, why not try?"
"Who doesn’t hope he gets better?" Eliza Hayes raised her voice, frowning and refuting sternly—
"But is your love for him true love?!"
"Everyone tells me there’s hope, there’s hope! Every time there’s hope! Doctors come one after another!! All powerless! They only stand before me to make their presence felt!"
A more agitated she became, eventually shouting directly, "There is no hope! He is a vegetative state! That he has lived without a ventilator until now is already a miracle! Please don’t disturb him!"
Faye was completely frightened by her extreme attitude, too scared to say a word.
Nanny Warren hurried over to support Eliza Hayes, gently patting her back, hoping she could calm down, especially since the old man was still present.
Precisely because the old man was there, she somewhat restrained herself, otherwise, she would have slapped those two!
The old man, leaning on a dragon-headed cane, wore a solemn expression, "Eliza, why make such a big reaction? Adrian and Faye mean well, wouldn’t you have to arrange even if it’s just to see Father upstairs today anyway? Whether she takes his pulse or not is just sticking out a hand, let her do it if she wants!"
Adrian Lancaster and Faye Turner stood in the Buddha hall, not backing down, putting the pressure on the mother. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Eliza Hayes’s gaze was faint, her breath heavy, her inner resistance strong.
"Hurry up and arrange it, disinfect if necessary," the old man said again, "The two kids came back especially, it’s coming from a good place."
Eliza Hayes’s face was so dark it could drip water.
"Nanny Warren!" The old man said with authority, "Arrange for disinfection!"
"Yes..." Nanny Warren, merely a servant herself, dared not disobey.
But knowing full well that the lady would be displeased, Nanny Warren felt extremely anxious when passing by Eliza Hayes.
The old man said to the children, "Adrian, Faye, follow Nanny Warren upstairs."
Adrian Lancaster put his arm around Faye Turner’s shoulder, the two exchanged a glance, and stepped upstairs.
To prevent any accidents, the old man followed them.
"Dad, I’ll accompany you in the elevator," Eliza Hayes’s tone softened considerably, stepping forward to support the elder’s arm, genuinely worried about him since they had to go up to the third floor.
The grandfather paused to glance back at her, sighed, and followed her toward the elevator.
