When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 217: The Nation’s Favorite Brother-in-Law
Milo Turner felt quite touched inside.
So, he gave his brother-in-law an address, and his brother-in-law said he’d be right over, then ended the call.
"Where are you going?"
Faye Turner knew he had finished showering, and now he had changed into a shirt and slacks, ready to go out, so she couldn’t help but ask with concern.
Adrian Lancaster stopped at the door, glanced back at her, and said, "There’s something at the company that needs to be dealt with temporarily, you should rest early, no need to wait for me."
The reason he kept it from her was not to make her worry because of her brother’s issue.
Adrian Lancaster didn’t trouble Mr. Kerr; he drove himself to the address Milo Turner had given him.
At the time, Milo was in a modest tavern near the school and had booked a small private room, the kind that’s only 98 yuan for five hours.
High school students generally face a lot of academic pressure; feeling lost is also real.
There are quite a few who end up depressed and even suicidal.
Having things on your mind and being able to cope by yourself is a really good thing.
When Adrian Lancaster arrived, Milo hadn’t drunk much. There were three beer bottles on the table, and he had only drunk half a bottle, maybe because he can’t hold his liquor, so his face was flushed.
"Brother-in-law, you’re here?" Milo was quite happy, getting up from the couch, reeking of alcohol, and somewhat sadly threw himself into Adrian Lancaster’s arms.
This certainly startled the man, but he didn’t push him away.
President Lancaster was actually stunned for a few seconds, then reached out to hug him, patting him on the back like he was comforting a son, "Alright, alright, don’t be upset, isn’t your brother-in-law here now?"
Milo Turner let go of him, pulling Adrian Lancaster to sit down on the sofa chair.
"Did someone bully you?" Adrian Lancaster observed his face, checking for any injuries. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
The boy shook his head, "No, it’s just that I did poorly on the exam, I’m feeling down."
Feeling this upset over an exam? How great must the usual pressure be?
Then Milo picked up the beer bottle, took a swig, and with a hint of tears in his voice, said, "The total score for math is 150, and I only got 78. I seriously listened in class, kept practicing afterwards, stayed up until 1 a.m. every night; I feel like I’ve worked really hard, but the effort isn’t proportional to the reward."
"For someone like me with average talent, it seems effort doesn’t help..." He felt lost.
"Brother-in-law, nowadays, even college students, graduate students, and Ph.D. students can’t find jobs they like and that suit them, right?"
This was his brother-in-law’s anxiety talking.
"I don’t even know the meaning of ordinary people striving together. Our teacher said he is doing work that can be seen through at a glance, day by day, and has to pass various evaluations, even though he was once the top student in the whole school..."
Yes, this society has become too competitive.
"Milo." Adrian Lancaster actually felt quite relieved; some kids had already sneaked out to internet cafes, but he was already pondering the meaning of life.
Somehow, Adrian Lancaster also felt a bit sad. He picked up another bottle of beer from the table, opened it coolly.
He didn’t disdain this cheap stuff either.
But as an experienced brother-in-law, he could only correctly guide him and comfort him, "Haha, don’t think about the long-term things, let’s just think about what we need to do now, and work hard at it, no matter the outcome, there will be no regrets, and you won’t feel sorry later."
Even though Adrian Lancaster often pondered the meaning of life himself, he had never found an answer.
That night, Adrian Lancaster stayed with his brother-in-law until 2 a.m., and gradually, the two chatted like buddies, from studies to work, and onto adolescence...
Then, he asked Milo if there were any girls he liked in class...
