When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 197: Mrs. Lancaster, Unyielding
Faye stared at him without any expression, carefully considering and weighing her options, feeling it was necessary to thoroughly resolve this trouble.
"I’m not asking for much, you don’t need to think about it—just three hundred thousand." Vincent Turner held up three fingers, promising, "I guarantee once I get the money, I’ll vanish immediately and won’t bother you for at least two months!"
Faye didn’t give a direct reply, she simply kept staring at him without blinking, her cold and detached gaze making Vincent Turner feel a bit unnerved.
Vincent Turner knew that this girl was usually very stubborn and difficult to handle. Now that she had become Mrs. Lancaster, with support, she was even more different.
Thus, he reminded and threatened, "You surely wouldn’t want me to tell the media that you have a gambler father, would you? And he’s your adoptive father too!"
Faye remained calm, not responding.
He continued, "Right now, the internet is digging into your background everywhere, and every piece of information related to you is traffic, Mrs. Lancaster. I could make a profit selling this information to the media as well."
"Once these things you want hidden come to light, no one will respect you. People will point and talk about you wherever you go, and you will constantly be the subject of gossip. I imagine it would also bring trouble to President Lancaster, wouldn’t it?"
"Bringing trouble to him naturally means he’ll deal with you." Faye smiled slightly, not appearing afraid at all, "I advise you to think twice. Given our relationship, I surely won’t help you then."
Vincent Turner’s eyes narrowed, seeing that this tactic wasn’t working. His mind quickly raced, and then he angrily said, "I know where you’re hiding Chloe Gable!"
Then, with a fierce gaze, he stated an exact address.
Faye felt her chest tighten abruptly!
It seemed he came prepared today.
"Faye, if you don’t give me money today, I’ll take her away, and you’ll never see her again! And I’ll torture her!!" Vincent Turner was going mad.
For a grateful girl, her adoptive mother is a vulnerable spot, not to be violated.
Seeing the emotion change in the girl’s eyes, the man smiled wickedly, "I don’t want to force you, and I’m not asking for much—a mere three hundred thousand."
He looked around, smiling as he asked, "I bet any painting on this wall costs more than that, right? That carpet probably isn’t less than three hundred thousand, is it? I’m not making things difficult for you, so why are you making things difficult for me?"
"Do you know this is extortion?" Faye coldly asked, "Because you’ve done this more than once. With this time, there will be a next time."
"I don’t care, now that you’ve married into money, you should support your family!"
"You can help Milo with his studies, but I can’t support your gambling." Faye was principled.
But this communication quickly made the man lose patience, "Are you going to give it or not?! Your answer directly decides whether Chloe Gable will have a peaceful life!!"
Faye felt a chill, her lips curled slightly, "I’ll give it."
This was beyond Vincent Turner’s expectations; did he hear wrong? She agreed so readily just because he ran his mouth??
"Give me your account number." Faye said in a light tone, reaching out to him.
The man quickly handed over his bank card, and she immediately transferred the money to him, using the card Adrian Lancaster had given her because she didn’t have that much money herself.
Meanwhile, Adrian Lancaster was in the meeting room, and when he received the expenditure notification on his phone, he felt no waves in his heart, only a slight curiosity.
Vincent Turner took the money and left, and Faye also got up to leave. She quietly told the receptionist, "Please arrange for someone to follow him, just to find out the exact location."
"Yes, ma’am." The other party didn’t ask much, immediately relaying the request to the security.
Then Faye picked up her phone, dialed 110, and reported that she had just been extorted, and had left recorded evidence.
So, within less than half an hour, Vincent Turner was apprehended, and the money was also frozen, soon refunded back to the original account.
This wasn’t the outcome Faye wanted because her mother had once said that a day as a couple meant a hundred days of grace, but she felt that Vincent Turner brought this upon himself.
With him caught, everyone’s days could finally be peaceful.
