When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 196: Gambler Foster Father Comes Knocking
She raised her voice on purpose, making sure everyone around could hear, then unfriendly snatched the manuscript from Faye Turner’s hand!
Faye Turner looked up at her and reluctantly stood up.
Really puzzled, what was Serena Sutton directing today... what was she trying to do?
The only thing that was certain was that she did it intentionally! These things were deliberately scattered all over the place.
Not a few onlookers in the distance were left wondering, how dare Serena Sutton talk to Mrs. Lancaster in such a manner?
This controversy hadn’t even been cleared off the trending charts yet.
Faye Turner had just entered the office when she soon received a call from an unknown number—
"Hello, Mrs. Lancaster, this is the company front desk," came a polite female voice. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Hello." Faye’s voice was gentle and unassuming, but puzzled, "Is there something you need from me?"
"Mrs. Lancaster, there’s a middle-aged man downstairs saying he’s your father, named Vincent Turner. He’s here to see you," the receptionist’s voice was sweet.
But it made Faye’s hair stand on end. She controlled her emotions and lowered her voice, "Okay, I got it. I’ll come down right away."
Meanwhile, the receptionist hung up and told Vincent Turner with a full smile, "Please come this way and take a rest in the lounge for a while. Madam will be down shortly."
Having lived so many years, Vincent Turner never received such treatment!
"Alright, alright, alright, alright." He looked around, grinning with delight as he followed the receptionist, immediately feeling his status double.
As he stepped into Prestige Group’s lounge usually reserved for VIPs, the several hundred square meters of luxurious decor left him dumbfounded!
"Mr. Turner, please have a seat first. I’ll have someone brew tea for you." The receptionist’s assistant still wore a smiling face.
"Alright, alright." Vincent Turner happily observed the setup inside, with the red embossed carpet, a huge landscape painting of unknown value, and the leather sofas... he felt assured for the rest of his life!
Soon, someone brought in a fruit platter and snacks and brewed a pot of fine tea, addressing him with, "Mr. Turner, please enjoy it slowly," which indeed made him feel somewhat elated.
After receiving the call, Faye didn’t dare to delay even a moment and swiftly rushed down!
The receptionist informed her that her father had been placed in the lounge.
"Thank you!" She quickly moved towards the lounge.
As she pushed open the composite door, Faye saw Vincent Turner sprawled lazily on the sofa with his legs disrespectfully perched on the coffee table, still with shoes on.
She closed the door and walked towards him!
Vincent Turner ate fruit while glancing at her, the fruit platter perched on his stomach, maintaining this enjoyable posture.
"Faye, you’re here? These grapes are so sweet, want to try some?" He spoke slickly, "No wonder it’s from Prestige Group, sweeter than the ones bought outside!"
Faye stood still, her face cold, "Put your legs down."
The man remained unmoved, smiling as he said, "No one would dare to come in, I’m President Lancaster’s father-in-law!"
"I said put your legs down!" Faye snapped at him angrily.
Startled, Vincent Turner retracted his smile, looking displeased as he put his legs down, sat up straight, and placed the fruit platter aside, then adjusted his collar, "You don’t need to shout at me like that. No matter what status you hold now, you are the daughter I raised with care your whole life!"
Faye took out her phone, playing with it as she sat on the sofa opposite him, "Go ahead, why are you looking for me?"
"What else would I be looking for you for?"
He picked up the teacup and took a sip, that smacking mouth sound was so loud, "Recently, I’m a bit short on cash, I just need some money and I’ll leave, I know you don’t want to see me either."
"Do you take me as your cash cow?" Faye glanced up at him, "Hasn’t our relationship been settled with a payout?"
"Can the gratitude of upbringing ever be settled? Go out and ask the media? See how the public opinion would evaluate you?" Vincent Turner said angrily, "Marrying into a wealthy family and wanting to cut ties with me, no way!"
His words inevitably carried a bit of threat.
Faye looked at him coldly, "You have quite the thick skin, gambling away your money, incurring massive debts, even your own son is hounded by creditors at school, leaving the whole family no peace."
Mentioning this, a hint of guilt flashed in Vincent Turner’s eyes, "Don’t bring up Milo! I’m just asking for money now, will you give it or not?!"
