When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 172: Making the Front Page
Her smile carried a hint of bitterness, and he knew it must be hard to drink, "Does drinking it... really have any effect?"
"Yes." The girl nodded, "I’ve looked at these medicines, they really are well-matched. Last night... you pushed me twice, maybe you do need to stabilize a bit."
"I’m sorry." Adrian Lancaster blurted out this time because today he was completely sober.
Faye Turner finished the last sip of the medicine in the bowl, looking at him with a smile, "Don’t say sorry anymore. No matter what happens in the future, you must not be violent, can you do that?"
Adrian Lancaster just looked at her and didn’t immediately answer.
The girl put down the bowl, got up and leaned her body lightly against the edge of the table, her hands propped on the table, gazing at him, "Adrian Lancaster."
The man stared right back at her gaze.
Watching her brew her emotions, she sincerely and earnestly said, "Please believe, Faye Turner is tied to you for life, no matter the situation, you can trust me."
Does she really want nothing? Just a stable marriage?
Adrian Lancaster was silent, knowing that in this world, there are too many people fishing with long lines.
Even a mother-child bond is not solid, let alone two people with no blood relation who just met and have no emotional foundation.
Do you think she would be good to him for no reason?
Adrian Lancaster certainly wouldn’t believe it, "Get some rest, you must be tired too." Avoiding the topic, he turned and walked towards the master bedroom.
Faye Turner watched his back, utterly unable to guess what he was thinking.
Perhaps, she thought, she was being naive.
He was, after all, Adrian Lancaster, a mythical figure in Argent’s business circle.
Feelings were simply not a necessity for him, and he wouldn’t easily trust anyone; he married her just to make his grandfather happy.
At night, before sleep.
The two lay flat on the same bed, under the same blanket, yet there seemed to be a distance of mountains and rivers between their hearts.
He could smell the faint herbal scent emanating from her again.
"Does this special herbal smell on you have a calming effect?" In fact, Adrian Lancaster had always wondered about this for some time.
The girl answered, "Yes, it does."
No wonder, Adrian Lancaster felt his sleep quality had improved significantly recently, and he was not as fatigued.
He could also understand why Mr. Mark was so obsessed with "Sweet as Day".
He took a gentle breath, then closed his eyes, "Starting tomorrow, an auntie will come to our home to take care of our meals and daily needs."
She slightly turned her eyes, "Thank you," but found the man had already closed his eyes.
"If I don’t arrange it, grandfather would still make it happen."
His words seemed to clarify that he did this not out of concern for her, but to not worry his grandfather.
His profile, under the moonlight pouring in through the window, held an unusual handsomeness.
"Mm." The girl slowly withdrew her gaze and also lay flat, closing her eyes.
It didn’t matter what the truth was, she just wanted to stabilize her life and to give birth to the child.
The night deepened.
The next morning, Adrian Lancaster, as usual, did not wait for her to go to the company together, even though she was pregnant.
But for now, only the grandfather knew about it.
When Adrian Lancaster entered the CEO’s office, Dustin Shepherd was frozen there with a newspaper, unable to believe his eyes as he looked at the people in the photo.
The girl featured on the front page headline alongside the CEO was, surprisingly, Faye Turner, his first love!
So, for the first time, Dustin Shepherd lost focus, not greeting him.
Adrian Lancaster noticed his odd behavior, but instead of blaming his rudeness, he asked in a friendly tone, "What’s wrong? What are you looking at?"
Dustin Shepherd raised his eyes, and a sluggish, suffocating feeling rose in his chest.
Even though he already knew Faye Turner was married.
Dustin Shepherd didn’t reply, truly stunned.
Adrian Lancaster was quite puzzled and walked over, taking the newspaper from his hand. When he saw the headline and photos, he was visibly stunned too.
This was something Adrian Lancaster hadn’t anticipated.
"Explosive! New CEO of Prestige Group, Adrian Lancaster, spotted with a girl at a street food market! True love is down-to-earth!"
