When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 148: Someone’s Playing Dirty
"Stop fighting, stop fighting..." Chloe Gable hurriedly embraced her son, feeling heartbroken and just crying, "We’ve already apologized, I beg you, please stop hitting him! Show some mercy!"
"Oh, so you know my hands are precious?! Hitting your son dirties my hands! Making me do the dirty work myself!"
The police chief’s wife was fiercely protective, crossing her arms and spitting out her words.
Milo Turner had never witnessed such a scene before; he hung his head, eyes filled with tears, and his cheeks were burning with pain! He really regretted his impulsive actions, but it wasn’t him who started the fight; he was merely defending himself.
However, no one would listen to his explanation, including the opportunistic head teacher.
Faye Turner and Uncle Lane burst into the office just as the middle-aged woman in a fur coat raised her hand for another slap—
"If a child is not taught, it is your fault! If you don’t know how to teach, I will teach on your behalf!"
"Stop!!" Faye shouted angrily, rushing inside.
The woman held her hand high, suddenly turning her gaze, and the head teacher also looked toward the doorway.
In the backlit doorway, Milo saw his sister rushing over, directly stepping in front of their foster mother and brother!
The woman in the fur coat looked her over disdainfully, "Where did this little girl come from, meddling in things that don’t concern her?"
"Sister..."
"Faye..."
Faye looked up, spotted the surveillance cameras, and felt more at ease, then unceremoniously asked the woman in the fur coat, "If adults need to get involved in children’s conflicts, does that mean I can hit you too?!"
"What?!" The woman snapped, "How dare you speak to me in such a tone?"
At this moment, Uncle Lane was outside on the phone with Adrian Lancaster, quickly reporting what he saw here.
President Lancaster said he would arrive in five minutes.
"Apologize!" Faye was not afraid of causing trouble, glaring at the fur coat woman, "You hitting a child, that’s your fault!"
"How are you talking to my mom?!" a nearby teenager suddenly flared up, shouting, "Do you know who my dad is?! My dad is Victor Peterson, the director of Argent City’s tax bureau!"
Faye was highly dismissive, knowing that in today’s society, no director is above scrutiny.
"I don’t care who your dad is, your mom is at fault; I’m saying it again, will you apologize or not?" Faye remained firm, "If not, I’ll call the police!"
At the mention of "call the police," the arrogant mother and son pair laughed, as if they had just heard a big joke!
"Go ahead and call! Hurry it up!"
The fur coat woman urged, even rolling her eyes disdainfully at her, "I’d like to see who dares to take this case! If you don’t step away, I’ll hit you too!! He bullied my son, and he deserves to die!"
At this moment, a man wearing a bureaucrat’s uniform with slicked-back hair entered.
"Dad!"
"Husband."
The man immediately asked, "Who hit my son? Stand up!!"
Milo Turner trembled, hiding behind his sister, not daring to even breathe deeply, still very much a child.
"First ask your son what he did?" Faye said to the middle-aged man, unafraid of his imposing presence, "Why don’t you investigate the whole situation first and then solve the issue, instead of just barging in aggressively?"
The middle-aged man finally noticed her, giving her a cold once-over, "Who are you? Do you know who I am? How dare you speak to me like that?"
"I don’t care who you are, you should figure out the whole story!"
"This is outrageous!!" The fur coat woman began to scream, "This Turner kid must be expelled! Right now!"
"Is the school yours?!" Faye believed in her brother, who, although not very academically gifted, was genuinely an honest and decent kid, "Milo, tell them what actually happened!"
If someone hadn’t provoked him, her brother would never cause trouble. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
But the badly beaten Milo dared not speak; he was trembling, having witnessed the darkness of society.
At the same time, he was afraid of his sister getting involved, afraid of his sister getting beaten, "Sis... don’t bother with it."
"What are you afraid of? Your brother-in-law is on the way! He’ll stand up for you!" Faye wasn’t afraid at all! She was carrying Adrian Lancaster’s child; how could he possibly side with outsiders?!
