When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase-Chapter 721: Witnessing Su Wan’s Secret (1)
The lights were off in the ward, making it hard to see clearly, but she could vaguely make out a person lying on the bed, and another person sitting beside it.
He Xin gritted her teeth and pushed the door open to enter.
Mu Ke heard the noise from behind and turned around, frowning when he saw someone come in.
On the hospital bed, Sheng Jiayu seemed to be asleep already. The medicine they had given her contained a sedative, and Mu Ke didn’t want her to be disturbed.
Before the person behind could say anything, Mu Ke stood up, took that person’s arm, and walked out.
Just after they stepped out of the ward, Mu Ke withdrew his hand from the person’s arm.
"Is there something you need?"
He Xin was slightly startled. Unlike the urgency from just now, Mu Ke had returned to his usual aloof demeanor.
Hearing his usual indifferent tone, He Xin forced a slight smile: "I came back to get something. I heard your friend was in the hospital, so I came to check in."
Mu Ke glanced at her indifferently, but it was clear he already understood He Xin’s intentions completely. Mu Ke spoke without any hesitation: "I thank you on behalf of my girlfriend. She’s already asleep, so please don’t disturb her. Goodbye."
After he finished speaking, Mu Ke didn’t even look at He Xin’s shocked expression and walked straight back to the ward.
In the corridor, He Xin stood under the bright lights, unable to believe what she had just heard.
She had known Mu Ke for quite a long time, but that was probably the longest sentence he had ever said to her since they met. However, to her, it was a shattering moment.
He Xin stood in place for quite a while before pressing her lips together. Her high heels clicked loudly as she left, completely disregarding that she was in a hospital.

When Sheng Jiayu woke up, it was already the next morning. She opened her eyes and immediately saw a silver thermos on the nightstand.
Her gaze shifted slightly, meeting Mu Ke’s back clad in a white lab coat soon after.
He had his back to her, and Sheng Jiayu was silent, discovering for the first time just how much taller Mu Ke seemed in a white coat.
Mu Ke and Sheng Jianan were about the same height, but he seemed to be even taller than Sheng Jianan now.
As Sheng Jiayu propped herself up to sit, the person over there heard the noise, turned around, tossed the medical chart aside, and supported Sheng Jiayu’s back with his long arm: "Don’t move yet."
Mu Ke pressed on Sheng Jiayu’s body: "Does it hurt?"
Sheng Jiayu shook her head and pressed somewhere else.
"How about here?"
"No, it doesn’t hurt."
They repeated this in three or four places before Mu Ke finally withdrew his hand. Sheng Jiayu looked at him and couldn’t help but laugh: "You don’t have to be so cautious. I know my own body; a night’s sleep will do."
Mu Ke looked at her calmly, though his gaze was slightly deeper: "Are you a doctor?"
Sheng Jiayu: "..."
Okay, he’s the doctor, so he has the final say.
She was merely stating a fact. She had experienced stomach pain before too, and sleeping had solved it.
Mu Ke poured some porridge from the thermos, glanced at the time on his wrist: "I have a surgery. Finish eating and wait for me here."
"Alright, I really am fine now. You go ahead."
Mu Ke nodded, placed the porridge in Sheng Jiayu’s hands, and took out the medicine, giving her a couple of reminders before leaving.
Watching his back, Sheng Jiayu couldn’t help but smile. This man was really anxious about her, perhaps making a bit much of it.
Sheng Jiayu felt alright already. After finishing a bowl of porridge, her stomach felt warm and comfortable.
