What does "When it rains, it pours" mean? Sheng Jiayu finally understood.
Because of the overcast sky, it got dark early, and now the room was already quite dim. When she called the property management, they said it was because a tree collapsed due to the storm and broke the power lines. It was being repaired, but they had no idea when the power would be restored.
This reason... really leaves you speechless.
Sheng Jiayu sank back into the sofa, only to notice the low battery warning on her laptop.
She had been using the computer all day without plugging it in, and now, it was useless.
Taking advantage of the fact that it wasn’t completely dark outside, Sheng Jiayu took a shower, then grabbed a sandwich from the fridge to begrudgingly fill her stomach and curled back onto the bed.
With the power out, even the Wifi was down. She couldn’t watch movies, so she could only scroll through Weibo on her phone while complaining to Xue Lu.
B City’s drainage system isn’t great. With such continuous heavy rain, half of the city’s traffic was practically paralyzed. Sheng Jiayu declined Xue Lu’s offer to go to her place, planning just to play on her phone before going to sleep.
Anyway, this wasn’t her first encounter with a power outage, and she wasn’t afraid of the dark. She figured she’d just go to bed early and wake up early for her health.
The sky outside gradually darkened, and after reading the news for a while, Sheng Jiayu felt a bit drowsy. She tossed her phone aside and closed her eyes.
Just as she was on the verge of drifting off, she suddenly heard a noise outside. She abruptly woke up, listening carefully, and it sounded like someone was opening the door.

The figure was cloaked in darkness, indistinguishable, but Sheng Jiayu felt not the slightest bit nervous. She slowly pointed her phone towards the person, revealing a man’s clear and handsome face in the pale light.
It was him, as expected!
Sheng Jiayu adjusted her clothing, "Why are you here?"
Mu Ke had already taken off his shoes and walked in. He went straight to the dining table, and Sheng Jiayu saw him place something on it, then take out a lighter. The flickering flames gradually multiplied, and in less than half a minute, Mu Ke had lit five candles.
The originally pitch-dark room became bright.
Mu Ke went to the living room, lit a few more candles, and placed them on the coffee table, then looked at Sheng Jiayu, "I heard you had a power outage here. Aren’t you scared?"
Sheng Jiayu shook her head. So he thought she’d be scared and came over?
"Have you eaten yet? I brought some food."
Under the candlelight at the dining table, the Sheng Family saw a large thermal bag and a thermos flask placed on the table.
And Mu Ke had already walked over, taking out the items inside.
Black pepper beef strips, hand-torn cabbage, cold chicken, and fish-flavored eggplant bundles looked even more enticing under the candlelight.
Sheng Jiayu pressed her lips together, walked over, and sat down. Mu Ke went to the kitchen to fetch bowls and chopsticks, then took out rice and poured soup from the thermos flask.

With a mouthful of food, Sheng Jiayu mumbled, "Aren’t you eating?"
"I’ve already eaten."
Sheng Jiayu’s hand holding the chopsticks paused. Clearly, these were all made by Mu Ke, so did he specifically make them for her?
