Chapter 571: Chapter 571: Buried Memories (Part 1)

Most of the people in the office are around thirty, except for Tang Yanqi and the young girl speaking now, who are a bit younger.

Hearing what the young girl said, those close to her knew she had been having arguments with her boyfriend lately. Their little issues seemed trivial to those who were already married.

Jana patted the young girl on the shoulder: "There’s no such reasoning. When two people argue, if the other is wrong, they should admit it first. If you’re wrong but the other person admits it first, that’s them pampering you. But they’re human too. Why should they always admit it first, especially when they’re not at fault?"

The young girl frowned, clearly disapproving. Someone next to her chimed in, "Xiao Liu, you young people today are too influenced by toxic internet advice. Life is shared by two people. If one person always gives in, the other will take it for granted. Without balance, it’s bound to crash sooner or later."

As everyone chatted, it was time to finish work. Tang Yanqi stepped out of the office, and as Mrs. Zhang had said, rain was pouring down outside.

The rain was so heavy that people more than two or three meters away were blurred out.

The parking lot here offered both surface and underground options, but only those with proper access could use the underground lot. Tang Yanqi, having not been here long, didn’t have that privilege. So Xiao Li always waited for her outside.

Tang Yanqi took out her phone to confirm Xiao Li’s location before heading over, but before she could dial, someone suddenly snatched the phone from her hand.

"Hey..."

Instinctively, Tang Yanqi looked up to meet a pair of piercing dark eyes. The man, with thin, tightly pressed lips, held a large black umbrella and wrapped his black trench coat around Tang Yanqi’s shoulders, gently yet firmly guiding her by the waist outwards.

Before she could gather her thoughts, he had already ushered her into the car. Someone saw the scene from afar, but the rain was so dense, and the man’s umbrella so large, none could make out his face.

The car smoothly merged onto the road, Tang Yanqi staring blankly at the person beside her. Why was he here?

Sheng Jianan’s face showed no expression as he steadily drove his car.

Rain, blocked roads, it seemed to have become the norm, and before long, the car crawled like a snail.

Tang Yanqi glanced several times at Sheng Jianan, trying to think of something to say. She didn’t know how much Sheng Jianan had heard yesterday. If by some chance he only heard the last sentence, she would be totally screwed. Even if he heard the earlier parts, he might still misunderstand. Her words indeed weren’t pleasant, but she didn’t want to appear weak when someone came to provoke her.

After a stop-and-go journey, they finally returned to the villa, the rain still hadn’t let up. Sheng Jianan, without a word, sheltered her into the house just like before. Part of Sheng Jianan’s trench coat was wet, but Tang Yanqi, under his protection, remained mostly dry except for a bit of dampness on her shoes.

Despite this, Sheng Jianan still said to Mrs. Zhang, "Make a mug of hot milk for the Young Madam."

"Yes."

Su Weiyi had also been dropped off and grabbed Tang Yanqi to tell her how she was praised by the teacher again today. By the time Tang Yanqi came to, Sheng Jianan’s silhouette had already vanished at the stairway.

"Xiao Yi, go upstairs and change your clothes first, okay?"

Su Weiyi nodded, her face brimming with delight as she bounced up the stairs.

The gloomy rainy day couldn’t hide the bright smile on the young girl’s face.
