Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Snow Brings Happiness

Blaze Fairchild hadn’t planned on going. Wyatt Kingston’s first short series had only just started filming.

For someone who was always going on about how secrecy was the key to success to be so busy throwing a celebratory banquet and publicizing it, he was personally creating his own hype.

Wyatt Kingston was either up to something, or he’d had a complete change of character.

He had explained what happened at the bar, but Luna still didn’t completely believe him.

He could feel that she was angry deep down.

If this misunderstanding wasn’t cleared up, he and Luna would only grow more distant.

Luna was afraid of getting hurt, so she chose to wrap up her emotions, not letting anyone see them, not even her mother, Jenna Axton.

The mother and daughter both loved each other and didn’t want the other to worry, so they always hid their true feelings and put on a happy face.

Especially Luna. She was probably so sensible that she had never even asked who her biological father was.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be trying to probe for clues about her own mother’s identity bit by bit.

She was afraid of disappointment, so she held on to herself, constantly moving forward, forcing herself to become stronger and stronger.

By the time he met Luna, she had already endured so much hardship.

The life he wanted to give Luna wasn’t like this.

"It’s on the weekend. Joy Coleman will be there too," Blaze added.

"Can I go? Don’t you have to bring Yvonne Rhodes?"

In the darkness, Blaze felt as if he’d been punched in the chest, a dull ache spreading through him.

’So there’s still this one, huh.’

"The PR department won’t be assigning Yvonne Rhodes to me anymore."

"Oh." She responded faintly, not saying whether she wanted to go or not.

"Do you want to go? I can have Mrs. Creed prepare some clothes for you."

"Yes, I’ll go." ’This is a good chance to learn social etiquette. It’ll help me handle all sorts of medical seminars in the future.’

Her obedient agreement sounded cheerful and pleasant to the ear.

Blaze couldn’t resist. His cool lips pressed against her forehead.

"Don’t be angry all by yourself, okay?"

"I’m not angry anymore."

She wasn’t angry. She had just come to terms with reality.

In this world, the only person you can always rely on is yourself.

Everything obtained through an exchange is based on the principle of mutual benefit.

Once that balance of interests is broken, everything built upon it will crumble to dust.

So, making herself stronger was the most important thing.

Fortunately, she was only twenty-two. There was still time for everything.

Blaze didn’t believe her. "As long as you’re not angry anymore. Let’s get some sleep."

The next morning, when Luna Axton woke up, the room was dim.

She stretched a hand out from under the covers. The wind blowing in through the crack in the window seemed even colder than yesterday.

Hearing the movement, Blaze came out from the walk-in closet.

Her fair skin was so clear it seemed to glow, and her sleepy eyes, soft and gentle from just waking up, were exceptionally alluring.

Blaze said, "It’s snowing."

The moment she heard the word "snowing," Luna’s half-closed eyes shot open, becoming clear and bright. Her voice was filled with unconcealed excitement. "It’s snowing!"

The snow she had been waiting for so long had finally arrived.

Luna threw back the covers, and her slender, pale toes padded across the soft carpet to the window.

Outside, it was a world of snow.

Snowflakes drifted lazily down from the sky, and a layer had already accumulated on the ground.

A set of footprints started in the distance and disappeared at the base of Lakeside Manor.

Mrs. Creed must have come over to make breakfast.

"You like snowy days?"

"Mhm." Luna leaned against the window, breathed onto the glass, and drew a six-petaled snowflake on the condensation.

She loved snowy days.

When it snowed, she felt that happiness would also descend, warming the entire winter.

As she stood unmoving before the window, Blaze picked up a small blanket from the sofa and wrapped it around her.

"Stay warm. Don’t catch a cold."

Luna glanced to the side, meeting his concerned, dark eyes. "Thank you."

Before they left, Blaze brought her a pair of waterproof snow boots with good grip to wear.

The white snow boots were dotted with small pink and blue flowers, along with a tiny bow made of strung pearls.

’Are all shoes made this cute nowadays?’

She sat on the shoe-changing bench in the entryway while Blaze knelt before her.

A quiet clicking was the only sound between them.

Blaze turned the knob on the side of the boot. His fingers were long and slender, and as he twisted it, the veins on the back of his hand stood out, exuding a sense of strength.

Luna thought that a hand like that would feel very safe to hold.

"These boots don’t have laces; those are just for decoration. You twist the knob on the side to tighten or loosen them."

Blaze had a high-bridged nose and deep-set eyes, and he carried an aristocratic air. His gaze was so earnest, his voice so gentle.

’It’s not like she was a kindergartener who didn’t know how to put on her own shoes.’

Still, the windproof and waterproof snow boots were very warm. The heat spread from the soles of her feet throughout her entire body.

Even on a snowy winter day, she felt warm all over.

"Let’s go. It’s time to head out." Blaze naturally took her leather-gloved hand.

Luna walked at a leisurely pace, the sound of her boots on the snow making a pleasant and soothing "CRUNCH~ CRUNCH~".

It was as if she couldn’t get enough of the sound, and she turned to look back at the footprints they had made.

Mrs. Creed stood under the covered walkway, watching the two figures, one in black and one in white, out in the snow.

’The Young Master was broad-shouldered and tall, mature, steady, and reliable; the Young Madam was petite and delicate, full of playful energy. Even while he held her hand, she didn’t forget to look down at the snow, stomping her feet with every step.’ 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Such a beautiful, romantic scene—of course she had to share it with Mrs. Axton and the Old Master.

Mrs. Creed took out her phone and quietly opened the camera app.

"A snowy day is the beginning of romance."

Just as she snapped a picture, the Young Madam suddenly looked back.

The Young Madam’s profile was delicately boned, the tip of her nose rounded and pert, and her lips full and plump, a lovely shade of pink.

Mrs. Creed’s heart instantly melted.

CLICK, CLICK, CLICK. She snapped another series of photos. ’You two must be happy.’

On a day with flurries, even while sitting across from Academician Frost with an interesting book in front of her, Luna Axton couldn’t help but gaze out the window at the crowd playing outside.

"Go on and play. You’re so young, why are you holding yourself back like this?"

Luna flashed a sweet smile and happily went outside.

On snowy days, unless it was a critical emergency, no patients were willing to venture out.

Concordia Medical Hall had no patients today either. Mason Frost was in the courtyard with May Ford, building a snowman.

Ethan Frost and Paige were roped into rolling snowballs to make a big head for the snowman.

The staff from the pharmacy and the billing office were also playing in the courtyard; the whole group was full of childlike spirit.

Luna put on her leather gloves, picked up an unclaimed duck-shaped snow mold, and quietly made little snow ducks by herself.

"You’re about to be a mother and you’re still so childish. Aren’t you afraid of giving birth to an idiot?"

Luna was angry. Her hands froze for a few seconds, but then she pretended not to hear and moved to a different spot to press out her little snow ducks.

Eliana Yates wasn’t about to let her go. She sauntered over and gave a push.

The little snow duck Luna had just molded fell to the ground and broke into pieces, no longer recognizable as a duck.

She asked, "Who gave you that pink diamond ring?"
