When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 58: A Chill Falls on His Heart
A smile curved across Wyatt Kingston’s lips. ’Things are getting interesting!’
That big iceberg, Blaze Fairchild, actually has a woman he likes.
This was huge news.
"It’s the woman who won the grand prize at your annual gala. Your methods for chasing her are way too old-fashioned. If you need help, I can teach you."
Wyatt Kingston, who flitted among countless women, knew them all too well. When it came to pursuing a woman, he was sure he could win her over with ease.
In all of Valoria, there wasn’t a woman Young Master Kingston couldn’t conquer.
Blaze Fairchild ignored his words.
Joy Coleman, Luna’s best friend.
"When did this happen?"
"When I came in, she was about to hit someone with a broom. I stopped her."
Blaze Fairchild frowned. "Was she alone?"
"Alone."
’Does that mean Luna knows I’m at the bar too?’
Luna had worked part-time in a bar before. She knew exactly what they were like.
"Wyatt Kingston, if you ask me to meet in a place like this again, I’m pulling my investment."
Blaze Fairchild left him with the harsh threat and strode away.
Wyatt Kingston was baffled. "What’s wrong with my place?"
"Hey, wait a minute! If you invested a little more money in me, then I’d have enough to rent an office building, wouldn’t I?"
His only answer was the sound of the door being slammed shut by Blaze Fairchild.
He leaned back languidly on the sofa and glanced around. "Isn’t this place pretty nice?"
’They just don’t know how to appreciate it. Looks like I’ll have to enjoy this fine wine all by myself.’
Blaze Fairchild hurried back to Lakeside Manor. Mrs. Creed was folding clothes she had just taken out of the dryer.
Looking at the tiny articles of clothing one by one, a joyful smile spread across Mrs. Creed’s face.
It was as if she could already see the adorable faces of a little master and little miss.
Blaze Fairchild came in without even taking off his shoes. "Mrs. Creed, is the Young Madam back yet?"
"Not yet." Seeing the young master’s grave expression, Mrs. Creed thought something was wrong. "I’ll call Adler and ask."
"Who’s Adler?"
"Caleb wasn’t feeling well, so Adler was assigned to protect the Young Madam today."
Blaze Fairchild froze. ’What a coincidence.’
’Luna must have misunderstood him.’
’She must think he was the one who reassigned Caleb.’
’It’s just one thing after another.’
He had to go see Luna right now and explain everything. He didn’t want her to misunderstand him.
"Ask them where they are. I’ll go pick her up."
"Alright." Mrs. Creed put down her work and quickly called Adler.
Blaze Fairchild went upstairs to change his clothes.
The clothes he was wearing were soaked in a foul stench, a mixture of several cheap perfumes.
As he took off his cufflinks to put them away, he noticed the pink diamond ring sitting on the jewelry cabinet.
It lay quietly on a piece of white paper, solitary and exuding a cold beauty.
It was Luna’s silent rebellion.
He put the ring in his pants pocket, quickly changed into some casual clothes, and went downstairs.
"Young Master, this is Adler’s location. Adler said the Young Madam went inside four hours ago."
"Okay." Blaze Fairchild took it and saw the address was a shop in the cultural and creative park. "Wash the clothes upstairs now."
"Yes, Young Master."
Luna Axton was in a media room watching a tearjerker drama. She went through four whole packs of tissues and finally finished all ten episodes.
Her eyes were bloodshot and swollen, her double eyelids puffed up into single lids.
The tip of her nose and her cheeks were flushed red, and her voice was heavy with congestion when she spoke. "Miss, the bill, please."
Joy Coleman stayed with her the entire time, not saying a word. She didn’t watch the drama; she just stared at Luna.
When Luna wanted water, she went to get it.
When Luna needed a tissue, she pulled one out and handed it to her.
She was carrying the president’s secret all by herself, unable to tell anyone, and it was agonizing.
Luna had never been this heartbroken before. When it came to romance, Luna was a blank slate.
Even though many male students had openly or secretly crushed on her back in school, no one ever dared to actually pursue her, intimidated by her status as a top student and the child of a teacher.
Now, Luna had met a man, become intimate with him, and was even carrying his child.
Regardless of whether there were feelings involved, for him to be messing around while Luna was pregnant...
It was a sign of contempt and an insult to Luna. She could hide the truth for now, but Luna would find out sooner or later.
’When Luna finds out, how will she face the president? How will she explain it to their child?’
As a lawyer, she had seen far too much of human nature.
No one could help Luna in her current state. Emotional pain could only be resolved when the person suffering it learned to let go.
As her best friend, all she could do was quietly stay by Luna’s side.
Luna Axton walked out with her head down, called for Adler, and prepared to leave.
"Young Madam, the Young Master is here," Adler reminded her.
The sky was dark, and the wind was bone-chillingly cold.
Blaze Fairchild was sitting in his car, the window rolled down.
As their eyes met, Luna Axton’s red, swollen gaze was as placid as still water.
"Adler, please take Joy home."
Joy Coleman’s heart clenched, and she called out in distress, "Luna..."
Adler nodded. "Yes, Young Madam."
"Joy, it’ll be okay." Luna Axton flashed a brilliant smile. "I can’t have dinner with you today. Let’s make plans for next time."
"Okay. Call me if you need anything. I’m not busy right now."
The two friends exchanged a few simple words before getting into two separate cars parked on the roadside.
The inside of the car was utterly quiet, the air thick with endless silence.
Back at the Fairchild Estate, Luna Axton walked ahead alone, while Blaze Fairchild followed closely behind.
Once they reached the second floor of Lakeside Manor, Luna Axton began to change her clothes with a blank expression.
Even with Blaze Fairchild standing behind her, she undressed as smoothly as ever.
’Blaze Fairchild could do whatever he wanted to her body, but her spirit had to remain her own.’
Blaze Fairchild waited until she had put on her loungewear. "We need to talk."
"Go ahead," she said. A smile touched her cold, beautiful face, but it didn’t reach her eyes.
"Caleb really wasn’t feeling well. I never spoke to him."
"I know," she replied faintly.
Blaze Fairchild’s expression froze. "The bar belongs to Wyatt Kingston. He just started his business and doesn’t have money for an office, so he arranges meetings at the bar."
"I know."
A sharp pain suddenly stabbed at Blaze Fairchild’s heart. He took the pink diamond ring out of his pocket. "This..."
"Oh, thank you." Luna Axton smiled, her expression apologetic. "I was just getting anxious. I’d forgotten where I put it."
As she finished speaking, Luna Axton slid the ring back onto her own ring finger.
Blaze Fairchild’s palm was left empty. The faint, cool touch of her fingertips still lingered, and a chill settled over his heart.
Seeing him staring blankly at his palm, Luna Axton asked quizzically, "Is there anything else?"
Blaze Fairchild’s dark eyes were heavy. "No."
"Mr. Fairchild, I’d like to get some sleep." Luna Axton’s tone was normal, her gaze firm.
"The internship at Concordia Medical Hall is very important for my career path. I will fulfill my duties as a wife and mother according to our agreement, but at the same time, I ask that you not interfere with my studies."
Blaze Fairchild stared at her swollen, tear-filled eyes, unable to bring himself to refuse.
He didn’t want her to go, but she would be unhappy.
But, if she went...
Blaze Fairchild was conflicted. He didn’t say yes, but he didn’t say no either.
"I’m going to get some sleep. I’ll just have dinner in my room. With a face like this, I can’t see Grandpa Fairchild or my mother."
Luna Axton finished speaking as if to herself, and without waiting for Blaze Fairchild’s reaction, she pulled back the covers and lay down to sleep.
