Chapter 35: Chapter 35: All Thanks to Blaze Fairchild

Thanks to Blaze Fairchild’s arrangements and the dedicated care of Mrs. Creed and Uncle Foster, Jenna Axton moved directly into Crimson Hall after her discharge from the hospital.

Luna Axton gazed at the pristine courtyard, which looked exceptionally calm and peaceful under the sunlight.

The winter sun felt pleasantly warm on her skin, warming her heart as well.

"Mrs. Axton, this is Crimson Hall. Grant will continue to be in charge of your care."

Grant was the caregiver who had been looking after Jenna Axton at the hospital. She was nimble and efficient, with a keen eye for what needed to be done—the type of person you rarely had to ask.

"Thank you, Mrs. Creed."

Perhaps it was the change of scenery, a fresh start for everything, but Jenna Axton seemed to be in decent spirits.

After thanking Mrs. Creed, she turned to Grant. "I’ll be in your care from now on, Grant. Thank you for your trouble."

Jenna Axton sat in her wheelchair, wearing a wool bucket hat. She spoke in a soft, gentle voice. Her face, a result of the previous night’s emergency treatment, had a sickly pallor under the sunlight, with a faint bluish tint.

Grant shifted uncomfortably and replied in a stiff tone, "Mrs. Axton, my boss pays me to do this. Taking good care of you is my job. It’s no trouble."

Jenna Axton and Mrs. Creed both smiled. They knew Grant was a reserved and straightforward young woman, so they didn’t press the matter.

After they got Jenna Axton settled in, Luna and Mrs. Creed headed back to Lakeside Manor together.

With just the two of them on the path, Luna could feel Mrs. Creed’s sincerity.

Ever since she moved in, Mrs. Creed had been nothing but kind to her.

’It’s like my luck started turning around after I found out I was pregnant.’

’Everything has gotten so much easier.’

’There were some twists and turns that made me sad and brought me to tears, but in the end, it’s all turning out well.’

"Mrs. Creed, thank you. For everything."

Mrs. Creed wasn’t surprised at all to hear the Young Madam say thank you. The Young Madam was just that kind of pure-hearted person.

If anyone showed her the slightest bit of kindness, she would want to thank them with all her heart.

"I’ve been working for the Fairchild family since the Young Master was a boy. He didn’t have an easy life. Mr. Sean Fairchild suddenly dropped his responsibilities, and the Old Master was left alone, swamped with work. The Young Master was often by himself."

Mrs. Creed’s heart ached for the Young Master back then. Even now, thinking about the path he’s walked makes her want to cry.

"Now that you and the Young Master are married, the Old Master is pleased with you, and the Young Master comes home for dinner more often. I feel like things are heading in the right direction, which gives me more energy for my work. My greatest wish is for you and the Young Master to be happy together."

’Besides, Mrs. Axton was a good friend of the late Madam. I have even more reason to care for her with all my heart.’

’But, Miss Adriana said she is just Luna Axton’s mother, Jenna Axton.’

’I will keep this secret forever.’

Mrs. Creed’s affection extended to those Luna loved. Touched, Luna said, "I will have this baby, and I’ll make sure it’s a perfectly healthy child."

’I’m the baby’s mother. Of course I want my child to be healthy.’

Luna’s words were like a balm to her soul. Mrs. Creed’s steps faltered without her realizing.

’The Young Master must have already told the Young Madam about his mother and the young miss.’

’The gentle Young Madam has managed to pry open a crack in the Young Master’s heart.’

’The Young Madam must be like the sun today, shining into his heart.’

Mrs. Creed wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. "The Young Master isn’t a bad person, he’s just used to being alone. Please, give him a little more time, Young Madam."

"I understand, Mrs. Creed. I really do want to build a good life with him."

The two of them arrived at Lakeside Manor as they were talking.

Blaze Fairchild had changed his clothes. His hair was combed back neatly, revealing his entire face—a high-bridged nose, deep-set eyes, and features that now looked even more defined and intense.

Looking at him now, it was hard to believe he was the same dejected, lonely man who had smoked an entire pack of cigarettes on the covered bridge.

"Are you heading to work?"

"Yeah."

Blaze Fairchild didn’t pause his movements as he changed his shoes, clearly in a hurry.

Luna stood to the side, unhurried, waiting for him to finish putting on his shoes before she went inside.

"If you need anything, find Mrs. Creed or Uncle Foster," Blaze said.

Luna picked up his laptop bag and handed it to him with both hands, looking earnest and compliant.

"I will. Don’t worry about things here, just focus on your work."

Blaze’s hand froze in mid-air for a few seconds as he reached for the laptop bag.

Then, as if nothing had happened, he took the bag, brushed past her, and left.

Mrs. Creed observed the slightly awkward dynamic between the two and lowered her head, pressing her lips together to hide a smile.

’The Young Madam is definitely a woman of action. If she wants to get along with the Young Master, she’ll take the initiative to show it.’

’But the Young Master’s reaction... he seemed completely caught off guard.’

’Oh, Young Master. You still have a long way to go. But at least you finally have a wife now, don’t you?’

Luna went back upstairs. After a shower, she planned to take a short nap before joining the Old Master for lunch.

She lay on her side on the bed and sent a message to Joy Coleman.

[I moved Mom to the Fairchild estate. I also got the stuff you sent by courier, it’s really nice!]

The four-leaf clover mug and a calligraphy brush rest she had made with Joy Coleman at a pottery studio had been fired and were now ready.

Joy Coleman sent a photo back first. It was the pen holder she had made, already stuffed full of pens, perfume samples, and various office supplies.

Joy Coleman texted: [Girl, this thing can really hold a lot.]

A smile touched Luna’s lips. [The brilliant mind of a pragmatist.]

Joy Coleman: [Is Mrs. Axton all right already? That was fast!]

Luna didn’t want Lindsey to know what happened with her mom last night. If Lindsey found out, she would definitely tell Ms. Brooks and Mr. Coleman.

Everyone was busy with work, especially Ms. Brooks, who was teaching seniors this semester and was under a lot of pressure.

She just replied: [She’s mostly recovered and is back home recuperating. Mr. Fairchild hired a famous traditional Chinese medicine practitioner to help nurse her back to health. If things go well, she might not even need the liver transplant anymore.]

Joy Coleman sent a sticker of a character spinning happily. [No wonder my mom wanted me to study medicine! See? It must feel so rewarding.]

Luna opened her keyboard but hesitated, unsure how to reply to Lindsey.

’In reality, it’s all thanks to Blaze.’ 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

’Otherwise, who knows how much longer I would have been deceived by the Hepatology Hospital’s schemes.’

’How much more money would I have had to sink into that bottomless pit of greed?’

The five million Blaze had transferred, plus the medical fees she had paid before.

Her mother’s hospitalization had cost over four million in total. For now, upon discharge, they had only received a refund of a little over five million.

The medical bills were a complete mess. She had no idea how much they could get back after filing a lawsuit.

It was over four million. Excluding the one million Blaze had given her, the remaining three million-plus was all of her mother’s savings, her valuable jewelry, and all of Luna’s own money from scholarships and part-time jobs.

’And now, it’s all gone.’

Luna let out a long sigh. ’Back to square one.’

’But at least Mom’s health is gradually improving.’

’As long as she’s here, it’s all worth it.’

Luna didn’t dare tell Joy Coleman about all this. Besides, there was a professional medical team on the case now. It would be better to wait for the results, and for Lindsey to have some free time, to tell her everything in person.

She didn’t reply, and the conversation ended there.

The two of them were often like that, letting conversations trail off. They were both used to it.

Luna set a forty-minute timer on her phone.

Then she put down her phone, rolled over, and closed her eyes to catch up on sleep.

Her nerves had been stretched taut last night, her emotions running high, and then she had been busy with her mother’s discharge.

After all the chaos, Luna was asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.

Mrs. Creed came by at lunchtime to get her for the meal. Just as she reached the bottom of the stairs at Lakeside Manor, she saw Luna coming down, holding the railing and yawning.

Luna picked up the package she had unboxed and headed toward Pinehurst Estate.
