When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 163: She Is Happy, You Know
Luna Axton of the clinical medicine department was a rather controversial student among the professors.
On one hand, she was the department’s most outstanding student, perpetually ranked first. For any competition or award she was eligible for, she was guaranteed to take home first place. Even with scholarships, she always received the highest tier.
On the other hand, it wasn’t easy to cultivate an outstanding doctor. Her personal life made the professors worry that such a promising medical talent would be held back by early marriage and childbirth.
Now, the professor suddenly learned that this latecomer wasn’t one of his students, but Miss Axton’s husband.
The professor looked at Blaze Fairchild’s face again. Not only was his voice familiar, but his face also seemed somewhat familiar.
Also, one of the papers he had just mentioned was a research finding from his own team. It had just been accepted for publication but hadn’t been printed in a journal yet. How did the man before him know about it?
A memory suddenly flashed through the confused professor’s mind. He spoke uncertainly, "Are you Mr. Fairchild? Mr. Fairchild of Evergrow Group?"
This paper, along with its research data, had been presented to Evergrow Group. Besides his research team, only the president of Evergrow Group knew about it.
Luna Axton had been worried the professor would escalate the matter to her academic advisor, but upon hearing the professor’s question, she relaxed. ’If the professor recognizes Blaze Fairchild, I’ll just let him handle it.’
The sound of the students’ chatter followed.
"Evergrow Group, is that the same Evergrow that donated our school’s Evergrow Experimental Building?"
"The Evergrow Experimental Building is for postdocs and professors only."
"The same Evergrow Group that built the Evergrow Tower and bought all the lab equipment?"
With her current level of education and experience, she wasn’t allowed near the Evergrow Tower, so Luna Axton only knew that such a building existed.
She had never connected the school’s Evergrow Tower with the Evergrow Group, assuming it was just a coincidence of names.
Blaze Fairchild’s lips curled into a smile as he acknowledged his identity. "That’s me."
Receiving confirmation, the professor happily extended his hand. "It really is you, Mr. Fairchild. No wonder your voice sounded so familiar."
Beyond his shock, he also felt a sense of relief.
Miss Axton’s husband was very supportive of the school’s scientific research. By that same logic, he would surely support Miss Axton’s future studies and career as well.
’I have to share this good news with the other professors.’
Blaze Fairchild was accustomed to socializing. He could calmly shake the professor’s hand and converse even in front of over a hundred students.
Luna Axton, however, stood there, a little lost.
Hearing the students behind her chattering as they put everything together, Luna Axton silently lowered her head. ’I guess I’m about to become famous at school all over again.’
"So she didn’t marry some nasty old man! I used to feel so sorry for her, thinking such a beautiful person was being wasted on some decrepit geezer."
"Look at this info I found online. The president of Evergrow Group... doesn’t that make him the richest man in the country?"
A male student who was a car enthusiast leaned over. "He has to be the richest man! Miss Axton’s car is a Cullinan worth over seven million. Her previous female bodyguard was a Sanda champion—one punch from her could turn a whole piece of meat into paste. That bodyguard was also a World Rally champion with amazing driving skills."
"Hiring such impressive people to protect Miss Axton... whoever said she was having a hard time, that’s all just rumors! She’s clearly living a happy life!"
"The CEOs in novels are always so domineering and fierce, but Miss Axton’s husband seems so knowledgeable and humble!"
The professor heard the students’ chatter as well. He checked the time. "Let’s take a ten-minute break. I’ll make up the time later."
The chatter in the classroom grew louder. What the students wanted to say was that it was fine if he didn’t make up the ten minutes; the professor didn’t need to be such a try-hard.
Since the professor had given the word, students who needed the bathroom went, those who wanted fresh air stepped outside, and the rest stayed in the classroom.
Luna Axton chose to sit down quietly, completely isolating herself from Blaze Fairchild and the professor.
From listening to the professor, Luna Axton finally understood that all research findings from Evergrow Tower had to be reported to Blaze Fairchild, the investor, first.
The professor had become so familiar with Blaze Fairchild’s voice because he had accompanied the department head to Evergrow Group to give a report.
Blaze Fairchild read so many medical papers because he took responsibility for his investments.
Luna Axton realized researchers had something in common: they remembered voices but not faces. ’My eldest uncle and Ethan are the same way.’
It was just that in their position, even if they didn’t remember someone’s name, there was no need to feel awkward. The other party would rush to introduce themselves.
That’s why the professor hadn’t recognized Blaze Fairchild right away.
The ten-minute break ended. The professor had more or less finished his chat with Blaze Fairchild and called the students back to class.
This time, with the investor sitting in the audience, the professor’s lecture was impassioned, almost as if he were trying to sell himself.
The students were also quite perceptive, and they all played along to support the professor.
They knew that if the professor won the investor’s approval, their research funding would be plentiful.
And come the final exam, he wouldn’t just tell them, "The entire book is important; patients don’t get sick according to textbook symptoms."
For the next two-plus hours of the lecture, all one hundred-plus students were highly focused.
The professor was very satisfied. With a tacit understanding between all parties, he ended the day’s class with a beaming smile.
Luna Axton’s pink lips parted slightly as she silently let out a breath. ’It’s finally over.’
The professor lectured while Blaze Fairchild listened from the audience.
’What’s the difference between today’s classroom atmosphere and him listening to Evergrow Group employees give reports in his office?’
"You’re not allowed in the classroom anymore."
"Why?" Blaze Fairchild felt pretty good about himself.
"You’re making everyone so tense."
"I thought everyone was very efficient. To improve the standard of our country’s doctors, they should learn with this kind of focus before they even leave campus. I should come more often." Blaze Fairchild even sounded proud of himself.
Luna Axton ignored his sophistry and got up to walk out of the classroom.
The academic representative, Peter Peterson, glanced at her a few times, wanting to speak, but after seeing the person next to her, he pretended he had nothing to say and left.
Luna Axton complained, "See? My classmate wanted to talk to me about something, but with you here, he didn’t even dare to speak."
Blaze Fairchild replied, "That just means he’s not brave enough. And if it can’t be said, it must not be that important."
Luna Axton: ...
’I can guess what the academic representative wanted to talk to me about.’
Otherwise, the usually aloof academic representative wouldn’t have called out to her and told her there was an empty seat.
Registration for the school’s Medical Student Skills Competition had already begun. Teams were in groups of four, and the academic representative wanted to find strong teammates to have a much higher chance of winning first place.
The one hundred-plus students in the eight-year clinical medicine program didn’t need to go through the qualifying rounds; they could directly enter the final competition.
Of course, not all one hundred-plus students would participate in such a competition.
On the way back, Luna Axton sat in the back seat, pondering how to stop Blaze Fairchild from shamelessly showing up in her classroom and how to get him to agree to her participating in the Medical Student Skills Competition.
Blaze Fairchild saw her brooding look in the rearview mirror. "Holding a grudge against me because you couldn’t talk to your classmate?"
