When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 115: Ian is So Lucky
Luna Axton’s delicate brows furrowed slightly. ’What does him pursuing Lindsey have to do with me? It all depends on whether Lindsey likes him or not.’
Before she could say a word, Blaze Fairchild spun around, his long arm shot out, and he grabbed Wyatt Kingston by the collar, dragging him into the living room.
Luna Axton followed the two of them into the living room, where Grandpa Fairchild watched them enter with a hearty laugh.
"You’re both grown men. Stop manhandling him like a little chick all the time. Don’t embarrass Wyatt."
The moment Blaze Fairchild let him go, Wyatt Kingston scurried over to Grandpa Fairchild to complain.
"Grandpa Fairchild, he has a wife now and is living a blissful life. It wasn’t easy for me to find a girl I like, but when I try to pursue her, Ian here stops me. He just can’t stand to see me happy!"
As Wyatt Kingston spoke, aggrieved tears welled up and swirled in his eyes, threatening to spill over at any moment.
’He really is the young master of an entertainment company. He can turn on the waterworks just like that.’
"Oh?" Grandpa Fairchild’s interest was piqued. He teased, "What happened to that young lady from a good family you went on a blind date with? Don’t like her anymore?"
"Grandpa, that’s not it at all! I was just placating my old man. It’s just like Ian—didn’t he also go on a ton of blind dates before he married my sister-in-law?"
Heh heh...
Wyatt Kingston shot a defiant look at Blaze Fairchild.
’I still have to woo my girl and make her my wife,’ he thought. ’I can’t have my sister-in-law thinking I’m a player who just loves and leaves.’
’My sister-in-law’s man went on blind dates, too. We’re six of one, half a dozen of the other.’
’This kid, Wyatt, never lets himself lose a verbal spar.’
Julian Fairchild asked, "What kind of girl do you like?"
"The kind like my sister-in-law’s best friend."
Blaze Fairchild, mindful of Luna’s foul mood, shut him down on her behalf. "Who you pursue is your business. Don’t drag my Luna into it."
"And why not?" Wyatt Kingston protested. "Proximity is a huge advantage! With my sister-in-law helping me, I’ll be married in no time, and my old man will finally get off my back."
When Wyatt Kingston recalled the disastrous scene on New Year’s Eve, he became even more convinced that he had to get married.
Seeing the eyes of all three fixed on him, he was deeply moved by the feeling of being the center of attention.
He continued to pour out his woes. "You all have no idea. My new project got over a hundred million views in just a few days over the Spring Festival, and revenue is already approaching a hundred million! But just because I didn’t bring a girlfriend home, on New Year’s Eve, my dad chewed me out in front of over twenty family members."
"I’m a grown man! Don’t I deserve some respect?" With that, Wyatt Kingston sniffled, looking utterly pitiful.
"Grandpa, you have to help me. Put in a good word with my sister-in-law for me. I just really like her best friend. I want to get married soon."
After his tearful plea to Julian Fairchild, he turned his head toward Luna Axton, pointedly ignoring a certain glare as sharp as a dagger.
Wyatt pleaded, "Sister-in-law, I don’t even have a girlfriend. I was a nervous wreck the entire Spring Festival! I tried to snag a chicken leg from my little nephew, and the entire room of relatives ganged up on me. Please, help me. I really, really like your best friend."
"Don’t worry, I’m not some player. I’ll treat her exceptionally well—even better than Ian treats you. I’ll make her the happiest woman in the world."
Luna Axton could see his earnestness, but... "I think you’d be better off liking someone else."
"Why?" ’As if you can just swap people and feel the same way!’
"You’re not her type."
"Then what is her type?" Even if he wasn’t what she liked, he wouldn’t give up. "Just tell me, Sister-in-law. I’ll change and become her type."
Luna Axton thought for a moment, and judging by the guys Lindsey had chased in the past, she came to a conclusion. "Lindsey likes the type who acts aloof and ignores her."
’That has to be it,’ she thought. ’Every time, Lindsey claims she’s head over heels, but as soon as she actually gets the guy, they don’t even last a week before she breaks up with them.’
The corners of Blaze Fairchild’s lips tilted upward. "Wow~" The gloating in his voice was impossible to miss.
Wyatt Kingston’s mood soured instantly, and he shot Blaze Fairchild a glare, his face dark.
His voice was laced with misery. "Sister-in-law, you’re tricking me!"
Luna Axton shrugged. ’What can I do if he doesn’t believe me?’ "Ask her yourself when you have a moment."
Seeing that she didn’t look like she was lying, Wyatt Kingston asked, "Sister-in-law, how many boyfriends has she had?"
"Ask her yourself."
Wyatt Kingston’s fighting spirit fizzled out. He muttered under his breath, "It’d be nice if I could even get a word in with her." Outside of work-related topics, the girl avoided talking about anything else.
Grandpa Fairchild was genuinely fond of the ever-cheerful Wyatt Kingston. He felt that it was because Wyatt and Dylan Crawford had grown up with Blaze that his grandson’s childhood hadn’t been so bleak and dull.
He also knew that whenever Wyatt and his father met, it was like putting a match to a powder keg—they’d explode at the slightest provocation.
Julian Fairchild offered some words of comfort. "Wyatt, with matters of the heart, you can’t just rush into a relationship because you want to get married. You need to take it slow. Character and personality are very important."
Wyatt Kingston’s eyes lit up. "I get it! Marry first, fall in love later. Just like Ian and my sister-in-law!"
’In love?’
Luna Axton clutched the sleeve of her dress. ’Since when were she and Blaze Fairchild in love?’
Julian Fairchild looked utterly defeated. He cast an inquisitive, doubtful look at Wyatt Kingston. ’Did this kid get his brains scrambled by a soccer ball when he was younger?’
As they sat in silence, a set of footsteps approached, carrying the fragrant aroma of food.
Jenna Axton and Uncle Foster entered the living room with the staff from the main kitchen. "Lunch is served."
With Jenna Axton’s arrival, Wyatt Kingston’s predicament was set aside for the moment.
Julian Fairchild whispered to Luna, "Your mother cooked all the dishes for yesterday and today herself. Be sure to eat plenty."
Luna Axton glanced to the side. Her mother was in the dining room, directing the staff as they arranged the dishes on the table.
"I’ll be sure to eat well, Grandpa."
’I didn’t come over for lunch or dinner yesterday. I must have made Grandpa Fairchild and Mom worry.’
Grandpa Fairchild nodded in satisfaction. ’She’s such an obedient child,’ he thought, feeling a lump form in his throat. "Good girl. Let’s go."
Wyatt Kingston’s eyes darted back and forth between Luna Axton and Blaze Fairchild, his expression turning to one of pure envy.
’His mother-in-law is even living in the house. Ian is so lucky,’ he thought. ’If only I could have a marry-first, love-later thing with my girl, too.’
Little more needed to be said. By the time the meal was over, both Luna Axton and Jenna Axton had come to terms with the reality of their impending separation.
During the meal, Wyatt Kingston heard that Jenna Axton was returning to Kensing with her friends the next day.
He continued to eat in silence, but his mind was spinning furiously.
He had seen it clearly at Lindsey’s new house, Atheria: her mother and his sister-in-law’s mother were incredibly close. They walked arm-in-arm, looking like a pair of sisters themselves.
’The ’friends’ they mentioned must include Lindsey’s mother,’ he realized.
’They’re leaving tomorrow, which means...’
As the idea struck him, Wyatt Kingston polished off the food in his bowl in a few quick bites, put down his utensils, and rose to leave. "Grandpa Fairchild, I’ve got something to do, so I’ll head home now."
"Thank you for bringing the strawberries."
"It’s nothing. If you want more, just have the old man call my dad. We’ll have them picked and sent right over, guaranteed fresh." Wyatt replied, flashing everyone a carefree grin before eagerly running off.
Luna Axton finally understood. ’So the delicious strawberries I’ve been enjoying all this time were from Mr. Kingston’s family.’
That evening, after Luna Axton returned to Lakeside Manor from Crimson Hall, she asked Blaze Fairchild,
"Mr. Kingston sent over so many strawberries. Shouldn’t we give him a gift in return?"
For the past several days, she’d had a constant supply of them, each one as beautiful as it was delicious.
"There’s no need. I already sent a gift over before the New Year."
Luna Axton recalled an earlier joke and, taking it at face value, asked in astonishment, "You really sent him a toad?"
Blaze Fairchild chuckled. "There were other gifts, mainly for Mr. and Mrs. Kingston."
"Oh." Luna Axton picked at her nails, her thoughts a jumble.
’Blaze Fairchild was so thoughtful.’
’Once she turned twenty, her own life had become so busy that she couldn’t spare a thought for the people around her.’
’Lately, with the whole affair of her parentage, she’d felt like she was living in a fog.’
While she was standing there in a daze, Blaze Fairchild reached out and pulled her onto his lap.
"So where’s my gift?"
"What?" Luna Axton was confused.
"You got gifts for everyone before the Spring Festival." Blaze Fairchild held his large palm open in front of her, brazenly demanding his due. "So where’s mine? When are you giving me my gift?"
"I..." Luna Axton bit her lip to hide her mortification.
’How was she supposed to tell Blaze Fairchild that she hadn’t gotten him a gift?’
