Chapter 64 - Sons Opposing the Father

He Cheng Ming suppressed his anger and looked at He Yue Jin with eyes that gradually grew colder. Then his lips curved into a sharp smile and he left, slamming the door.

That condescending attitude made He Yue Jin so angry that he took the documents on his table and threw it in the direction of the door, causing the papers to be scattered all over the ground.

The thought of the chilly look in his son’s eyes from earlier made him feel tense. Although He Yue Jin was angry, he could not ignore the unexpectedness of the matter. He was worthy of the He family, being not only intelligent but also courageous, and would become a very capable person in future.

But this also strengthened his resolve not to let He Cheng Ming make mistakes.

After dealing with the younger son, the next one was the elder son who had been playing tricks right under his nose.

He dialled He Mu Sheng’s number.

When He Cheng Ming returned to the room, Ji Liao’s heart finally settled after half an hour of uneasiness. He went up and asked, “Are you okay?”

He Cheng Ming replied, “I’m okay.”

Seeing that the other boy still looked nervous, he hugged him from behind and bent to kiss his face, adding, “Don’t think about it.”

He didn’t want Ji Liao to have any worries. He would resolve any problems as long as Ji Liao remained by his side.

“But…”

Ji Liao turned his head to look at He Cheng Ming’s expression. He felt insecure and unreasonably flustered.

“There’s no but. Trust me.”

With that, He Cheng Ming covered Ji Liao’s mouth, his agile tongue prying his teeth apart, not wanting to hear him say anything else. He would protect him. There were no buts.

Ji Liao whimpered and his head was twisted to the side, forced to kiss the one behind him until his tongue was numb.

His eyes were watery and he also understood that the other boy probably didn’t want him to ask further.

If he didn’t want him to ask, then he wouldn’t.

Ji Liao saw that the slap mark on He Cheng Ming’s face was still obvious and pulled him to sit on the sofa. Earlier, he had requested for the service staff to boil two eggs. Now it was still warming in the thermos flask waiting for him to come back.

Ji Liao went over to pick up the eggs and carefully peeled them, then rolled the warm white eggs around on He Cheng Ming’s face.

He Cheng Ming’s heart warmed. Ji Liao had remembered and was concerned about the injury on his face. He suddenly felt that it was slightly ironic. He Yue Jin had just talked to him for so long but didn’t even ask about it.

“Baby.” His voice was slightly hoarse and he hugged Ji Liao bonelessly.

After being given such a big hug, Ji Liao’s expression was muddled. With the eggs still in hand, he asked, puzzled, “Huh? What’s the matter?”

He waited for a while without receiving a reply and thinking that the boy was just taking advantage of him, he berated him, “Don’t touch. Apply it for a while so the redness will fade more quickly.”

Ji Liao had no choice but to help him roll the eggs on his face. Who knew that this person really had no proper conduct, getting close and teasing him from time to time, making him a little distracted.

The eggs were almost cool so Ji Liao threw them onto the table. He placed both hands on the other boy’s shoulders and knelt on the sofa, staring down at him.

He Cheng Ming looked up slightly and saw that Ji Liao’s eyes couldn’t hide a surprising radiance. His kneeling motion had been really fucking intense and it had made him hard! He Cheng Ming stuck out his tongue and pointed to his own mouth with an index finger, wanting a kiss.

Ji Liao was stirred by this seductive appearance and his head heated up. He lowered himself and kissed him.

He Cheng Ming couldn’t resist the initiative of the boy and instantly reacted, wishing he could consume him.

In the evening, they went out for a meal, then spent another night on the ferry. The next day, they got off and ended their May Day trip.

Xu Ai Wen and the others came back later. Ji Liao opened the door for them and thoughtfully took the suitcases off Meng Yao Yao’s hands, hearing her gasp, “It’s so tiring to go out and play!”

But she was also very happy! She bought many things and even gifts for Ji Liao!

At the first opportunity, Meng Yao Yao rushed to the kitchen for a drink of water. Then Xu Ai Wen came in and asked her to go to the living room to rest and she quickly prepared a meal.

Previously, the Meng family had a nanny who specialised in cooking. Only after Xu Ai Wen married into the family did they no longer hire the nanny and she took on the responsibility of cooking voluntarily. She was still very traditional and felt that men should be masters outside the house, while women should be masters within.

“Thanks for the trouble, Auntie. I’ll ask Dad to help you!” Meng Yao Yao said sensibly.

She didn’t call Xu Ai Wen Mom, just like Ji Liao didn’t call Meng Yuan Dad. Both of them maintained the use of the same honorifics as before.

After Meng Yao Yao went out, Meng Yuan walked in after settling the suitcases. Seeing Xu Ai Wen so busy, he was slightly reluctant to see her so hard at work.

“How about if you don’t report to the new company? I can afford to support you and Ji Liao.”

In the midst of washing the rice, Xu Ai Wen’s hands stopped and she replied, “Let’s see.”

The two of them received a phone call from their company’s HR department yesterday informing them that they had been dismissed on the grounds of having an office romance. In actuality, the company had not explicitly prohibited office romances. After a few more questions, the HR personnel informed them that it was the directive of the boss. Compensations would be given and they didn’t have to return after the holiday.

Shortly after, a job invitation from the He group appeared in Meng Yuan’s email inbox. Moreover, the number of people invited was two, meaning him and Xu Ai Wen. He thought that it was very strange but after checking, he found that the email was really sent by the He group.

Meng Yuan was the backbone of the team in his previous company. Years of experience in the workplace told him it was likely the sudden dismissal was because he and Xu Ai Wen had offended someone who made their previous company give him up. It was obvious that the other party was very influential.

He had received the invitation from the He group for some reason, which made him wonder if it was a trap.

The phone suddenly sounded and it was from an unsaved number.

Meng Yuan went outside to answer it and heard the other side introducing himself, “Hi, I’m He Mu Sheng, the general manager of the He group.”

He Mu Sheng was a famous name that he had heard of, but he didn’t know why the man was calling him.

“It’s like this. Yesterday afternoon at four-thirty, I asked the HR personnel to send a job invitation to Mr Meng. I wonder if Mr Meng has checked his email?”

He Mu Sheng held his phone, glancing at He Cheng Ming who was staring at him nearby and patiently went on, “Mr Meng, you don’t have to overthink it. The He group sincerely invites you to join the company, not just for my brother but because your professional ability is obvious to all within the circle. If there are any requests, you can bring it up. The He group will not treat you badly.”

When Meng Yuan heard this, he vaguely understood what was going on and asked, “Your brother?”

He Mu Sheng raised his eyebrows and said three words, “He Cheng Ming.”

Right then, it had all become clear to Meng Yuan, who was secretly startled that He Cheng Ming was He Yue Jin’s son. It was inevitable for him to worry about Ji Liao. Although he wasn’t his real son, Xu Ai Wen married him and the responsibility was on his shoulders.

After a long silence, Meng Yuan said, “I’ll think about it.”

He had figured the whole thing out. Obviously, it meant that He Yue Jin had gotten him and Xu Ai Wen fired. The reason for doing so was probably because He Yue Jin had found out about the relationship between the two kids.

Now, He Mu Sheng had invited him and seemed to be taking He Cheng Ming’s side, wanting to oppose He Yue Jin.

There was only one reason for sons opposing the father — to seize the throne.

Meng Yuan merely thought of this and felt apprehensive. Sure enough, still waters run deep in rich and powerful families!
