Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Learning Breathing Technique!

Three days had quietly passed.

During that time, Reon had fully read through the Celestial Heart Breathing Technique.

He spent hours each day seated in quiet focus, the flickering lantern inside the tent casting a soft glow over the pages.

The gentle rustle of leaves outside and the occasional chirp of insects were the only sounds accompanying his study.

Though he had finished reading it, Reon had only managed to comprehend a small portion of its true meaning.

The technique was deeper and more complex than he had expected.

But one thing stood out clearly in his mind.

’This is... a damn Dual Cultivation Technique!’ Reon screamed inwardly.

He leaned back and ran a hand through his hair, processing the realization.

’Yeah... although the first volume doesn’t focus much on the dual part. Most of it is just about absorbing Spiritual Qi from nature.’

Still, now he understood why the technique seemed so special—and why it carried such a mysterious name.

Pushing the thought aside, Reon shifted his focus.

"Hmm... I should finish the quests from the Adventurer Guild," he muttered to himself.

With a calm breath, he summoned Cloudia and the little tiger from his Inner Beast Domain.

In a soft flash of light, both of them appeared before him.

Cloudia stood in her human form, hands clasped behind her back as she shyly fidgeted with her fingers.

Beside her, the little tiger blinked sleepily, its small tail flicking lazily.

Cloudia and Reon’s eyes met.

Reon remained composed, but Cloudia quickly looked away, her cheeks turning red as she lowered her head is shyness.

"Ahem... Cloudia, little tiger," Reon spoke gently, "Why don’t you two take a stroll around the Greenhood Forest?"

He took out two bamboo papers with painted images—one showed a Bloodthorn Serpent, the other a Shadowmane Panther.

"These two are low-ranked Demonic Soldier Beasts. They’re targets for my Adventurer Guild quests," Reon explained.

Cloudia’s eyes sharpened as she listened closely.

Her earlier shyness faded, replaced by a sense of duty to follow her Master’s every order—and a secret goal of her own.

’Hehe, if I complete the mission, Master might reward me with kisses... and maybe something more this time,’ she giggled to herself.

"They’re not that strong. Little tiger should be able to handle them alone."

He looked at Cloudia and nodded.

"But just in case, stay with her. Teach her well. If things get dangerous, feel free to use your bloodline."

Cloudia glanced up, her voice soft.

"M-Master... what about you?"

"I’ll stay here," Reon replied. "I need to absorb the Spirit Stone I got."

"U-Understood, Master. I’ll make sure to complete the missions properly," she said with a shy nod.

Reon held out the bamboo papers for her, but as she reached for them, their hands briefly touched.

Swoosh!

Cloudia quickly pulled her hand back, flustered.

Without a word, she scooped the little tiger into her arms and turned to leave the tent in a hurry.

"Cloudia, what about the papers?" Reon called after her.

"I-I already know them well, Master! I can recognize those beasts the moment I see them!" she replied in a rush, her voice trailing behind as she ran off—still too embarrassed to look back.

Reon blinked, then chuckled softly to himself.

’Right... she’s from the Beast Continent. Of course she’d know about these normal creatures.’

He watched her retreating figure vanish beyond the tent flap, the little tiger tucked against her chest.

’She’s so shy... yet somehow, that only makes her more adorable.’

’Still, beneath that shyness lies a boldness I’ve seen before—one that, to me, is irresistibly charming.’

Reon paused, finger resting thoughtfully against his lips.

’But...’

A slow, sly smile curved on his face.

’I want to kiss her again...’

His eyes shone with a quiet, playful spark.

’When she returns from the mission, I’ll find the perfect reason—a reward for her hard work—and kiss her deeply.’

Little did Reon know, this simple choice—to let his Companion Beasts head out alone—would set his life on a path paved with blood and irreversible fate.

...

With a soft breath, Reon sat back down on the bed.

From his Spatial Ring, he pulled out two Intermediate-Grade Spirit Stones.

Next, he summoned the Crimson Howl Technique from his System Inventory and placed it beside him, ready to study later.

Then, closing his eyes, he began to draw in the Spiritual Qi from the stones.

Even the natural Spiritual Qi around him responded, drawn in through his breathing, though he wasn’t actively trying to absorb it.

The energy flowed gently, like a quiet stream, entering his body and coursing through his Lesser Meridians.

Each breath was steady, each cycle slow and precise, guiding the Spiritual Qi toward the Initial Core inside his constitution.

Sure, Luna could have devoured the stones in an instant and given him the raw energy—but she couldn’t help with building the delicate Core Meridians or pushing through to a Major Realm.

"That part... I have to do on my own," he thought calmly.

And just like that, four more days quietly passed.

"Haa..."

He let out a slow breath and opened his eyes.

Clenching and unclenching his fist, he felt the steady surge of strength flowing through his body.

’The absorption speed of this Breathing Technique is insane...’

He reflected with a calm pride.

’In just two days, I absorbed an entire Intermediate-Grade Spirit Stone without Luna’s help... breaking through to Stage-8 of the Qi Solidification Realm and forming three new Core Meridians.

Over the following two days, I grasped a new Art of the Core Void Eye and advanced to the Early Stage of the Crimson Howl Technique.

To top it all off, I even managed to learn several 1st Circle magic spells during that time.’

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

’Not bad at all... This is real progress.’

With a stretch and a breath of fresh air, he stepped out of his Spatial Tent.

But then, a frown creased his brows.

"Cloudia and little tiger... it’s been four days. Why aren’t they back yet?" he wondered, unease stirring in his chest. "Did something... happen?"

And then—he froze.

His eyes widened in disbelief.

From the edge of the forest, Cloudia came rushing toward him—no, charging—still in her beast form.

Her silvery fur was soaked in blood, her body riddled with wounds, bruised and battered.

And worst of all—little tiger was nowhere to be seen.

"Cloudia!" Reon shouted, panic overtaking him.

She stumbled as she neared the tent and shifted back to her human form mid-step, her legs giving out.

Reon dashed forward, catching her just in time. She collapsed into his arms, as if her body instinctively knew he would be there to hold her.

His breath caught.

Blood trickled from her lips, her hands trembled, and scratches marred her delicate face.

"Cloudia..." he whispered, gently brushing a lock of blood-matted hair away from her cheek, his fingers trembling.

Anger flared deep inside him, rising like a tidal wave.

"Mas...ter..." Cloudia gasped, her voice barely above a whisper. "They took... little tiger..."

Reon’s heart dropped.

His jaw clenched.

"Who?" he demanded, trying to rein in the fury in his voice. "What happened, Cloudia?"

But inside, his calm was already crumbling.

Whoever dared to hurt them—whoever laid hands on his people—was going to regret it.
