What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 822: Another Ship In The System
Rosalia and Friederike checked to make sure that there weren’t any other Psionics in my crew before they started to ask the other girls normal questions to get an idea of what Exo-Knights would be suitable for them.
They then took the information and assured me that they would use it to build the best Exo-Knights for us before we left.
Since that was done, I didn’t really have anything else to do and was thinking that we could just take it easy for the rest of the day.
That is... Right until alarms started to sound throughout the station.
Really? What’s with the timing on this? They really just decided to attack us right as we were thinking of taking a break...
I pulled up my Codex to check if there were any instructions for us to mobilise and sure enough, there was an alert to request for me to join the defense fleet.
I turned to my girls and gave them a nod, prompting all of us to rush towards the direction of the hangar.
Yumiko would be following me to the Verlandi while the others would be headed towards the Iridescence since I did not need that many people with me to pilot the ship.
"How many enemies are there?" I asked.
Yumiko brought up her own personal terminal to check her messages, "It doesn’t seem like they are able to confirm yet, Mistress."
"What do you mean? How are they not able to confirm yet? Are there more coming?"
Yumiko paused before answering, "It seems like... The enemies this time aren’t Insurgents, Mistress..."
I paused for a moment, "Not Insurgents? Then who? Pirates?"
"No... It’s an unidentified ship, Mistress... And they are refusing hails. It seems like they believe it might be a trap so they are raising the security level of the station just in case. So maybe it might still be an Insurgent ship."
"What kind of ship is it?"
"It’s a civilian freighter, Mistress.
Hmm... I suppose I can understand why they might be cautious... The timing of this ship’s appearance is just too close to the insurgent attack so this might be a trap designed to make us lower our guard, especially since the last attack was done by a freighter ship that was converted to a carrier.
We reached the hangar and there were still a couple of people hanging around my ship despite the alarms blaring in the background.
There was one guy who was standing beside the boarding ramp and he was looking quite worried at the interior of my ship for some reason.
I ignored all of them and rushed past to board my ship, only to realise that there were still a few people standing around inside my ship marvelling at its interior.
Hello?! Do you not hear the alarm literally blaring outside right now?! Get the fuck out and go man your stations!!
I cleared my throat, getting the few people’s attention as they turned to look in my direction.
"Can we help you?" One of them asked.
Do they seriously not realise what is going on?!
I pointed above me, "Do you not hear the alarm sound? We’re being attacked right now."
The guy shrugged, "I’m just a clerk, I don’t get mobilised when there’s an attack on the station so it has nothing to do with me."
I gestured at myself, "But it has everything to do with me!"
"So? That’s none of my business, right? Go and defend the station then?"
"You’re in my ship that I’m supposed to be using to defend the station with! Get out!"
The person jumped in surprise, "O... Oh! This is your ship?"
"Yes?! Get out! All of you!"
The group of people looked at each other before they turned back to me, the one at the front frowning at me.
"Wait... You’re planning to use this ship to defend the station?"
"Isn’t that what I said? Of course?"
"Noooo!! How can you even use a treasure like this?! That’s unacceptable!! What if you put a scratch on it?! How can you even think about flying out to a dangerous situation like that?!"
I blinked at the guy before furrowing my brows, "If you haven’t noticed... This is literally my ship. Who do you think you are to even suggest something like that?"
"This is a Verlandi!! How can you even dream of putting it in a position where it might even get scratched?! This should be placed under protection and guarded at all costs! Not flown out into space, much less a battlezone!!"
I narrowed my eyes at him, "What do you think ships are designed to be used for?"
"This is not a ship! This is an art piece!!"
"This is my ship. I will not repeat myself again, get the fuck out."
He crossed his arms and his colleagues stepped beside him to form a human wall, blocking me from getting to the cockpit.
"We’re not letting you go any further."
I frowned, "You do realise... You are blocking me from entering my own ship?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"So? Just because it’s your ship doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want with it."
"What the fuck? Yes it does. Forget this, Yumiko, deal with them please."
My Inucani lover cracked her knuckles before leaping forward.
Her fist went straight into the leader’s abdomen, knocking the wind out of him before she smashed her heel across the side of his head with a roundhouse kick.
The guy crashed onto the ground with a loud thump, unconscious.
I looked at the others who were behind the first guy, "Are you all also going to try to stop us? I’ll let you choose to walk out of here on your own two feet or get rolled out of here like trash."
I was hoping that was enough to dissuade them from continuing but surprisingly, they shuffled to close the gap that the unconscious guy had vacated and even raised their fists.
Really? Fanatics really are crazy...
Despite being outnumbered, Yumiko took care of all of them in a flash without breaking a sweat, knocking all of them unconscious and onto the ground.
She then unceremoniously started rolling them out of the ship with her foot, letting them roll down the ramp like they were just bags of goods.
The person I saw that had been standing beside the ramp was still there and I realised that this guy must be the one in charge of managing the crowd to board my ship.
Judging by the look on his face, he probably tried to get them to leave but they also refused to listen to him and was at a loss on what to do.
As they rolled to the bottom of the ramp, I directed my gaze to the guy beside the ramp while pointing at the unconscious group.
"Mark down their names. These people won’t be allowed near my ship anymore. Assuming I still want to put it here after this."
He quickly nodded, "I understand! Please leave it to me! Don’t worry about them!"
Looks like he was actually afraid that I would decide to stop allowing people on board my ship because of this.
Well, don’t worry, I know that there’s really stupid people and their stupidity is not related to you.
I turned back and ran to the cockpit, strapping myself in and starting up the engines while Yumiko joined me in the gunner’s seat.
Checking that all systems were green, I fired up the thrusters and sped off, flying out of the station and checking the map for potential hostiles.
It seems like the defense fleet has arranged themselves near a certain location in space, all of them facing towards a white dot on the map.
That must be the unidentified ship that Yumiko had told me about.
Looking at where the Iridescence was docked, it doesn’t seem like my girls have reached the ship yet since it was still tethered to the station.
No big deal, they can join us later.
I pushed on the thrusters and turned us towards the direction of the defense fleet.
Upon reaching them, a call immediately came through to show the same person that had contacted me the first time when I came to deal with the Insurgents.
"Miss Tera! So glad you can join us! Your ship is as majestic as always! It’s such a sight to see the Verlandi in action!"
Guess there’s two kinds of fans where one believes it cannot be used while another group believes that seeing it used is a beauty in and of itself.
I nodded, "What do we have here?"
"Ship is refusing hails so we suspect that it might be a trap sent by the insurgents. Scans show life signs on board but we don’t want to fly out of the station’s defense range in case they try to launch a flanking attack while we are engaged with it..."
I guess that’s why the Exo-Knights were also staying near the station instead of being out here.
Well, I guess we’ll have to wait for my ship to join us and it’ll probably fall upon my crew to investigate that ship...
