Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Getting Married

Vivian Quinn said, "I’m sorry, it’s not that I doubt you. I’m just used to handling things personally. Besides, I need to verify it using Traditional Chinese Medicine."

"Have you figured out a treatment yet?"

"Not yet. I need time to research it."

"Okay. Let me know if you need anything. I’ll help in any way I can."

"Thank you."

Before she knew it, the day of Vivian Quinn’s surgery had arrived.

She checked into her hospital room a day early, and Jett Sterling stayed with her to keep her company.

When Mason Landon entered the room in his white coat, he saw Jett Sterling feeding fruit to Vivian Quinn, who was preoccupied with her phone.

Sensing the stare, Jett Sterling turned to look.

Their eyes met, and sparks flew instantly.

Each was lost in his own thoughts, and neither of them spoke.

Vivian Quinn sensed the tension. She glanced up, suddenly feeling a little awkward. "Mason, you’re here."

"Yes," Mason Landon said, stepping forward. "The CT results are back. Everything looks fine. The surgery is scheduled for 9 a.m. tomorrow."

"Okay, thank you for all your work."

Jett Sterling spoke up. "I’ve arranged for two specialists to be in the operating room tomorrow."

Mason Landon’s brow furrowed.

Vivian Quinn also felt this was inappropriate. "It’s not a major surgery, and it isn’t dangerous. Is all this really necessary?"

"It’s no bother." Jett Sterling looked up at Mason Landon. "Dr. Landon, you’ve only recently recovered from a gunshot wound. Frankly, I’m concerned about your stamina. The people I’m bringing won’t interfere with the surgery, they will merely observe. This is just in case you become too exhausted to complete the procedure. I’m sure you won’t mind, will you, Dr. Landon?"

Mason Landon gave a faint smile. "Suit yourself."

"Good."

Although they were being polite, Vivian Quinn could feel the atmosphere growing more and more tense. Clearing her throat, she said, "Mason, thank you. You should head home and get some rest tonight."

"Okay."

Once Mason Landon had left, Vivian Quinn let out a quiet sigh of relief. "Why did you have to bring people into the operating room? That’s so rude. If Mason says he can do the surgery, then he must have the stamina for it. Besides, I already asked, and his wound has definitely healed."

Jett Sterling’s expression turned serious. "Vivian, anything concerning you requires the utmost caution. You’ll listen to me on this."

A sweet warmth filled Vivian Quinn’s heart. "Alright, but you have to promise me one thing, too."

"Name it."

"The doctors can go in, but you can’t."

"Why?"

"I really don’t want you to see me go under the knife. The scene will be so bloody."

Jett Sterling hesitated for a moment. "Alright, I won’t go in."

"Okay."

Early the next morning, Vivian Quinn was wheeled into the operating room.

Jett Sterling waited outside, never leaving his spot.

The surgery went smoothly. When Vivian Quinn was wheeled out, her foot was in a cast, but she seemed to be in good spirits.

"Jett Sterling, now we’re both stuck in wheelchairs."

The man smiled, stroking her face. "It’s alright. We can keep each other company."

"Mhm."

"You get some sleep. I’ll be waiting for you when you wake up."

"Okay."

Vivian Quinn closed her eyes and was soon fast asleep.

...

Winter arrived in what felt like the blink of an eye. After more than two months in a wheelchair, Vivian Quinn was finally fully recovered.

Although it left a scar on her ankle, she could walk normally again and had no lasting complications, which made her very happy.

Jett Sterling wheeled himself over. "Vivian, Austin Grant and Rachel Quinn are getting married."

"Oh, really?" Vivian Quinn said, unconcerned. "Then I suppose congratulations are in order for Rachel Quinn. She finally got her wish."

"The invitation has already arrived. Do you want to go to the wedding?"

Vivian Quinn smiled faintly. "Rachel Quinn delayed her wedding until now precisely because she knew I was in a wheelchair. She wanted to wait until I could walk again so I could attend and she could watch me suffer, right? Of course, I have to grant her wish."

"Then I’ll go with you."

"Absolutely not." Vivian Quinn pinched his cheek. "How could the great Master Sterling deign to attend a wedding like that? You can’t go. It would give them far too much credit."

"I go where you go."

Vivian didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Isn’t Master Sterling a bit too clingy?"

"I’m only clingy with you."

"Fine, fine." Vivian Quinn’s eyes darted playfully. "Since you’re being so sweet, I have a gift for you."

"What is it?"

"You’ll find out tomorrow! By the way, is there any news about my master?"

"Vivian, six years is a very long time. There’s no news yet."

"I understand. My master’s disappearance was so strange, it must make him even harder to find." Vivian Quinn squeezed his hand. "But I haven’t been idle. I’ve already started my research. Even if I can’t find my master right away, I’ll figure out a way to cure you."

"Okay."

The next morning, Vivian Quinn woke up to the surprise of snow falling outside.

A thick blanket of snow covered everything, transforming the world into a pristine white, breathtakingly beautiful scene.

She quietly closed the bedroom door and ran downstairs.

When Jett Sterling woke up, he was alone in the master bedroom.

After freshening up, he got into his wheelchair and went out, only to see Nanny Jenner standing outside the door.

"Young Master," Nanny Jenner said with a respectful nod. "The Young Madam has requested that you come downstairs a little later."

"Why is that?"

"I’m not sure myself."

A hint of a smile flashed in the man’s eyes. "Alright, I’ll go to the study for now."

About half an hour later, Nanny Jenner came to knock on the door, and Jett Sterling finally went downstairs.

The side parlor faced the garden. Two of its walls were seamless, floor-to-ceiling windows, making the room feel at one with the scenery outside.

As Jett Sterling entered, the backdrop was the heavy, swirling snow outside.

The sofa that had been there was gone, and standing in the center of the room was the young woman, smiling radiantly at him.

Jett Sterling froze.

She was wearing a White Swan ballet costume. The long hair she normally used to hide the left side of her face was swept up into a high bun. The scar on her left cheek had vanished, revealing her flawless and stunningly beautiful, delicate face.

As the gentle sound of a piano began to play, she began to dance. Her movements were transcendently graceful, like a fairy who had accidentally fallen to the mortal world.

In the vast world, it felt as if they were the only two people left, at peace in their own private sanctuary.

The dance ended with a final, difficult spin held in a perfect pose. Jett Sterling finally snapped out of his trance and wheeled himself over to her. "Vivian..."

Vivian Quinn looked a bit shy, her hands twisting the hem of her costume. "I haven’t danced in a long time. I’m a little rusty, so don’t make fun of me."

"It was perfect. I’ve never seen a more beautiful White Swan."

Vivian Quinn touched her left cheek. "Actually, my face has been healed for a while. I waited until today to show you because I wanted it to be a surprise."

"Thank you, Vivian. Right now, there’s only one thing on my mind."

"What’s that?"

Jett Sterling took her hand, his gaze tender and affectionate. "To lock you away in here, so that you belong only to me."

Vivian Quinn’s face grew redder. Unable to meet his gaze, she whispered, "I already belong only to you."

Jett Sterling’s heart throbbed uncontrollably. He placed a kiss on the back of her hand. "Go get changed before you catch a cold."

"Okay."

...

Austin Grant and Rachel Quinn’s wedding was scheduled for a weekend.

That afternoon, Vivian Quinn dressed up and did her makeup. Looking at her reflection with satisfaction, she then left for the hotel with Jett Sterling.

’If I don’t give Rachel Quinn a big ’present’ today, I’ll be letting myself down!’
