Chapter 86: Chapter 86: My Wife for Life

Rachel Quinn’s eyes darkened. "Vivian Quinn, I’m offering you the courtesy of a quick death. Don’t push your luck!"

"You’re the one who’s shameless!"

"Fine. I knew someone like you wouldn’t give in so easily." Rachel Quinn clapped her hands twice, and seven or eight burly men, all foreigners, stepped out from the shadows.

"Vivian Quinn, I bet you’ve never had a taste of a foreign man. Well, today you’re going to get your fill!"

One look at the men’s eyes told Vivian Quinn exactly what they intended to do. She retreated, one step at a time.

"Vivian Quinn!" Rachel Quinn suddenly pulled out a gun and aimed it into the distance. "If you dare take one more step back, Joy Chase will die!"

Vivian Quinn’s eyes snapped to where the gun was pointed. She saw Joy Chase held captive by a man, a strip of duct tape sealing her mouth. She couldn’t move at all!

Vivian Quinn had no choice but to stop.

Rachel Quinn was triumphant. "Vivian Quinn, today is the day you die! Get her!"

The big men immediately lunged toward Vivian Quinn!

In the blink of an eye, a gunshot rang out with a loud BANG!

"AHH!" Rachel Quinn shrieked as the gun clattered to the floor. Blood streamed from her right hand.

A figure suddenly darted out from behind her, pressing a gun to Rachel Quinn’s head. "Let them go, or you die."

"How dare you hurt me?" Rachel Quinn raged. "Do you have any idea who I am?"

Mason Landon scoffed. "I’ll say this one more time. Let them both go."

Rachel Quinn squeezed her eyes shut, then said through gritted teeth, "Let them go!"

Only then did the man release Joy Chase.

Vivian Quinn immediately rushed forward to help Joy up, tearing the tape from her mouth. "Joy, are you okay?"

Joy shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "Vivian, I’m okay..."

"That’s good. Let’s get out of here!"

Just as the three of them were about to exit the warehouse, Rachel Quinn suddenly snatched the gun from the floor, spun around, and fired at Vivian Quinn!

"Look out!" Mason Landon tackled Vivian Quinn, taking a bullet in the shoulder!

"Mason!" Vivian Quinn cried out, quickly pressing her hand to his wound. "Are you alright?"

"I’m fine..."

Rachel Quinn raised her gun and walked towards them, her bloodshot eyes filled with hatred. "Vivian Quinn, go to hell!"

Mason Landon instinctively rolled over, shielding Vivian Quinn with his body!

BANG!

But the scream that followed the gunshot was Rachel Quinn’s. "AHH!"

Vivian Quinn looked up and saw that Rachel Quinn had been shot again and had collapsed to the ground.

Vivian Quinn turned her head to see Jett Sterling in his wheelchair, a gun in his hand. His eyes were dangerously dark as he stared at Rachel Quinn on the floor.

Behind him, a group of bodyguards rushed into the warehouse and subdued the remaining men.

Vivian couldn’t spare a thought for anything else. She rushed to Mason Landon’s side. "Mason, how are you?"

A smile touched Mason Landon’s pale face. "I won’t die. Vivian, don’t be scared."

The sound of police sirens grew closer, and Vivian Quinn breathed a sigh of relief. "I’ll take you to the hospital!"

...

Mason Landon was rushed into the emergency room, and Joy Chase was also sent for a medical examination.

Vivian Quinn looked at the blood on her hands, her fingertips trembling slightly.

Jett Sterling sat in his wheelchair, his expression still dark, but in the end, he didn’t say anything more.

After a long wait, the doors to the operating room finally opened.

"Doctor, how is he?" Vivian Quinn hurried forward to ask.

"We’ve removed the bullet. It didn’t hit any vital organs. He’ll be fine after some rest."

Vivian Quinn breathed a sigh of relief. "That’s good. Thank you, Doctor."

The unconscious Mason Landon was taken to a hospital room. Vivian was about to follow when she suddenly remembered something. She turned to look at Jett Sterling. "Thank you for today. You should go home now."

The chill on the man’s face deepened. "Vivian Quinn, don’t you have anything to explain to me?"

"Explain what?"

"When you get into trouble, you don’t tell me—your husband! You run to an outsider for help instead. What is that supposed to mean?"

Vivian Quinn froze for a moment before replying, "I didn’t ask anyone for help. Mason realized on his own that Joy was missing. He called to ask me what was going on and offered to help."

"Then why didn’t you tell me? Do you have any idea how dangerous the situation was today?"

"Jett, I’ve told you many times, I want to divorce you. That’s why I wouldn’t bother you with something like this." Vivian Quinn’s hands were clenched so tightly her nails dug into her palms. Only the sharp pain kept her mind clear. "Jett, I owe you my life. You can take it anytime you want, but I just don’t want to be entangled with you any longer."

"Vivian Quinn!" Jett Sterling bellowed. "Say that again!"

"I’ve made myself perfectly clear. You’ve recovered. There are plenty of people at Sycamore Bay to take care of you. I’m not going back!"

Vivian Quinn said her piece with finality and turned to leave, tears finally streaming down her face.

’I don’t want to drag Jett down any further. I can’t.’

...

When Mason Landon woke up, it was already the next morning.

The moment he opened his eyes, he saw Vivian Quinn curled up asleep in the armchair by his hospital bed.

"Vivian? Vivian?"

Vivian Quinn’s eyes snapped open, a momentary confusion in them. "Mason, you’re awake?"

"Yeah."

"Don’t move. Let’s have the doctor check on you first."

The examination showed that everything was fine. Vivian then brought Mason some plain porridge. "Here, eat something."

"Thanks." Mason looked at her. "Vivian, why are your eyes so swollen? Did you not sleep all night taking care of me? You should go get some rest."

"I’m fine."

She had cried all night, but not for Mason. It was for Jett.

"Vivian, what did the police say? How is Rachel Quinn?"

"She’s not dead. Both shots hit her in the arm. She’s laid up in the hospital. The police called last night and said the Grant Family has gotten involved."

"Vivian, it’s too dangerous here. You don’t have the power to fight her." Mason Landon frowned. "Even for the Landon Family, it would be nearly impossible to go up against the Grant Family..."

"Mason, that’s not what I was thinking," Vivian said quickly. "You were injured because of me today, and I already feel awful about that. How could I let you help me go up against the Grant Family?"

"Vivian, I’m willing to help you."

"I don’t need it." Vivian Quinn looked at him with utmost seriousness. "Mason, I won’t drag you down. I won’t drag anyone down."

"Vivian, Aethelgard is not a place you can stay for long. Why don’t I send you abroad to lie low for a while? You and Joy can go to Pariden. Once I’ve recovered, I’ll come find you and perform your surgery."

Vivian Quinn thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement. "Okay."

...

「Two days later.」

Vivian Quinn returned to Sycamore Bay.

Jett Sterling was sitting in the living room, his expression as dark as a thundercloud.

Vivian Quinn walked up and placed the divorce papers in her hand on the coffee table in front of him.

"Jett Sterling, I came today to pack my things. I’m leaving. I hope we can finalize the divorce before I go."

"Impossible," the man said in a cold voice. "Vivian Quinn, your life belongs to me. You are my wife for life. I will never divorce you."

"I’m leaving the country," Vivian Quinn said firmly. "I don’t like Aethelgard, and I want to leave. Even if you don’t agree to the divorce now, it will be granted automatically after three years of legal separation."

Jett Sterling finally lifted his eyes to meet hers. "You’re leaving the country with that Mason Landon, aren’t you?"
