Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 65: He’s My Husband
Jett Sterling wheeled himself in. "Mrs. Sterling, do you really want me to cut off the internet?"
"I want to see how things are developing," Vivian Quinn said anxiously. "People online are trying to figure out who you are. You could get dragged into this mess."
"No one will find out who I am. Don’t worry."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. I would never lie to you." Jett Sterling took the iPad from her hands. "Vivian, I’m not letting you look because I don’t want you to get upset over these pointless things."
"But I want to help. After all, this whole thing started because of me."
"If we’re going to put it that way, then this is actually my fault. If it weren’t for that black card, the Quinn Family wouldn’t have demanded money from you, and none of this would have happened today."
Vivian Quinn couldn’t help but smile. "Why do you always insist on taking the blame for everything?"
"It’s the truth." Jett Sterling stroked her cheek. "I’ve already taken care of it. I don’t need your help. I’m just waiting for things to reach their peak before I make my move."
Vivian Quinn rested her chin in her hand and looked at him. "It seems you have everything under control."
"You have to trust your husband. I can always keep you safe."
The corners of Vivian Quinn’s lips curved up. "Okay. I trust you."
Jett Sterling’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Just as he was about to kiss her, there was a sudden knock on the door.
"Ma’am," a maid’s voice came from outside. "There’s someone here to see you. He says he’s a good friend of yours, with the surname Shaw."
"It’s Shane Shaw!" Vivian Quinn quickly got up. "I haven’t had my phone for the past few days. He must have been worried sick when he couldn’t reach me!"
Jett Sterling’s expression darkened slightly.
Vivian Quinn went downstairs and saw two people sitting in the living room. "Ian Sterling, what are you doing here?"
"I’m here to save you," Ian Sterling said brazenly, one leg crossed over the other. "So this is where the little cripple lives? The security sucks. Someone splashed paint all over the outside and wrote a bunch of insults about you."
Shane Shaw looked worried. "Boss, your phone just kept ringing, and then it was off completely. I was terrified, so I came to find you right away. But because some of those fanatics got into the neighborhood, they’ve tightened security and won’t let anyone in. I had no choice but to ask Ian Sterling for help. I didn’t expect him to have so much pull; he got us in immediately."
Ian Sterling said smugly, "My influence isn’t limited to just this. Even Yates York came to me and asked me to plead with the school not to expel you."
Vivian Quinn frowned. "So the school didn’t expel me this time because you helped?"
"You think Yates York could have handled a mess this big on his own?" Ian Sterling grew even more arrogant. "How about this? Out of respect for him, you can come work for me from now on. I’m taking over the family business when I graduate, and I need talented people just like you!"
"Aren’t you a medical student?"
"Surprised? I’m a double major. I have a spot in the finance department, too. Medicine is just a hobby."
"I see."
Ian Sterling’s face lit up. "Does that mean you’re accepting my offer?"
"Not at all," Vivian Quinn rejected him flatly. "I’m not going to work for you."
"What?" Ian Sterling could barely believe his ears. "Do you have any idea how many people would kill to work for me? Anyone else would be on their knees, kowtowing in gratitude by now."
Vivian Quinn took a sip of water. "Then go find someone else and enjoy being worshipped."
Ian Sterling: "..."
"Vivian Quinn, how can you say you don’t have a crush on me? You’re just playing hard to get!"
"Sterling, I forgot to tell you, I’m married. And I have no intention of cheating. So, while you can eat whatever you want, you can’t just say whatever you want."
Ian Sterling froze for a second, then burst out laughing. "Vivian Quinn, stop kidding around. It’s one thing for a guy like me to fool around with you, but who would be crazy enough to actually marry you?"
The words had barely left his mouth when a deep, icy voice suddenly spoke. "Say that again." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Ian Sterling shot to his feet. In an instant, his scalp tingled and his limbs went cold.
He followed the sound of the voice toward the elevator and saw a cold, familiar face!
Ian Sterling’s knees went weak, and he nearly collapsed. "Un... Uncle..." he stammered.
Vivian Quinn: "..." ???
Shane Shaw: "..." !!!
Jett Sterling wheeled himself over, looking coldly at Ian Sterling. "I asked you to say it again. Who is ’fooling around’ with her, and who would be ’crazy enough’ to marry her?"
Ian Sterling trembled with fear. "Un... Uncle... You and Vivian Quinn... you know each other?"
"Allow me to introduce you. This is my wife, Vivian Quinn." Jett Sterling took Vivian Quinn’s hand. "Ian Sterling, address her as your aunt."
Ian Sterling: "..." !!!
’It’s over, it’s all over. I must not be awake. I’m hallucinating!’
Vivian Quinn was every bit as shocked as Ian Sterling. "Jett Sterling, he’s your nephew?"
"He is."
"No wonder he’s the school bully. That holier-than-thou, look-down-on-everyone attitude must be genetic," Vivian Quinn muttered under her breath.
Jett Sterling chuckled softly. "Mrs. Sterling, are you praising me or insulting me, hmm?"
"Praising you. Of course, I’m praising you."
Ian Sterling almost thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. ’Did his ice-prince of an uncle just laugh?’
’What is happening to the world!?’
Vivian Quinn looked at the stunned Ian Sterling and said with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, "Well, nephew, why are you just standing there? Have a seat. Oh, and since we’re family now, you can come work for me in the future. If I become a doctor after graduation, I’ll need an assistant anyway. I’ll be sure to take good care of you."
Ian Sterling: "???"
He finally managed to collect his thoughts and demanded, "Vivian Quinn, you’re really something else! Tell me, how did you manage to trick my uncle into this!"
"What, you want me to teach you how to snag a rich older woman? You’ll have to become my apprentice first."
Ian Sterling: "..."
"Bah! As if I’d ever need to find a sugar mama! You’re obviously the one who trapped my uncle! Do you even know who he is!?"
"Of course I do. He’s my husband."
"..."
Just as Ian Sterling was about to speak, Jett Sterling cut him off. "Have you said enough? Then you can get lost. Also, tell your father to watch himself. If he’s going to send people to spy on me, he should first consider whether he’s even capable of it."
Ian Sterling’s guilt was palpable. "Uncle, you must have misunderstood. My father doesn’t even know you’re back in the country. How could he possibly send people to watch you here?"
"Did I say he was watching me *here*?" Jett Sterling pinned him with an oppressive gaze. "Ian Sterling, with the way you just confessed without being prompted, you don’t seem like the sharp mind the Sterling Family should have produced."
Ian Sterling: "..."
"Uncle, I was wrong. I’ll go back and ask my dad right now."
With that, he scrambled away.
Shane Shaw burst out laughing. "That’s the first time I’ve ever seen the school bully look so cowardly! It’s hilarious!"
Vivian Quinn was also in disbelief. "Jett Sterling, your nephew struts around Aethelgard University like he owns the place. I can’t believe he’s so scared of you."
"As an elder, it’s natural to educate the younger generation. You’re his aunt, so in the future, if he needs discipline, give it to him. Don’t be polite."
Vivian Quinn pictured the scene and couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "This is too funny. To think I actually have a nephew that old. Life at Aethelgard University certainly won’t be boring anymore. Don’t you worry, I’ll be sure to take *very* good care of our dear nephew!"
...
For the next several days, the scandal’s heat on social media didn’t die down; it only intensified. Likewise, the Quinn Group’s stock price continued to soar, hitting new highs daily.
Vivian Quinn couldn’t see the torrent of abuse online, but Nanny Jenner told her that a crowd of people had gathered at the entrance to their neighborhood, holding banners to denounce her. Some were even pressuring the police to arrest her, which showed just how far the situation had escalated.
Then, on the fifth day of the incident, a video suddenly went viral online!
