Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The Man She’s Been Longing For

The bodyguard immediately complied.

A familiar face was revealed, and Ethan Grant was stunned. "Vivian Quinn, what are you doing here?!"

Vivian Quinn smiled. "Chairman Grant, surprised? Unexpected, isn’t it?"

"You dare to impersonate the Phantom Healer to trick me? I’ll kill you!"

"Chairman Grant, calm down. If I die, you’ll be going down with me. Are you sure you want to make that trade?"

Ethan Grant was unfazed. "You think a useless little bitch like you can do anything to me? You’re dead today!"

"I’m still young. I’m not ready to die just yet."

Vivian Quinn’s fingertips tapped lightly on the table. Once, twice, three times.

Suddenly, Ethan Grant’s legs gave out, and he collapsed back onto the sofa. His hands seemed to lose all strength, and he couldn’t even hold his gun steady, dropping it to the floor.

"Chairman Grant!" the bodyguard asked urgently. "What’s wrong?"

Humiliated and enraged, Ethan Grant shouted, "Get her!"

Just as the bodyguards were about to make a move, Vivian Quinn pulled a small bottle from her pocket and sprayed it at them.

"ARGH!" The bodyguards cried out in pain, clutching their faces. "My eyes!"

Vivian Quinn stood up and walked out, only to find that Ethan Grant had a backup plan—another group of bodyguards was waiting outside the door.

Vivian Quinn’s brow furrowed. Just as she was about to fight, a figure dressed in black suddenly emerged from around the corner and began fighting the bodyguards.

Vivian’s heart leaped with joy. It was the same man who had saved her in the countryside, wearing the exact same clothes!

The man’s skills were exceptional. His moves were ruthless and decisive, and within a few minutes, he had subdued all the bodyguards. He then walked over to Vivian Quinn.

The man was very tall, probably around six-foot-three. Vivian Quinn had to tilt her head up to see the top of his, but he was so heavily covered that she couldn’t see his face at all.

The man’s voice was low and flat, like an unchanging horizontal line. "Are you all right?"

Vivian Quinn beamed. "I’m fine. Thank you."

"We shouldn’t linger here. Let’s go."

"Okay."

The two of them walked out of the teahouse and got into a black sedan parked by the road. The man quickly drove away.

Vivian Quinn noticed that not only was his face completely covered, but he was also wearing gloves.

She collected her thoughts and said, "Sir, you’ve saved me twice now. I didn’t even get a chance to thank you last time."

"I had something to attend to that day, so I left early. It was nothing, not worth mentioning."

"If you hadn’t stepped in that day, I’d probably be dead by now. I’ll never forget your kindness."

"Did you have a miscarriage that day?"

At the mention of this, a sharp pain pierced Vivian Quinn’s heart. She said sullenly, "No, I wasn’t actually pregnant. I was mistaken."

It was laughable. She was the Phantom Healer, yet she couldn’t even tell if she was pregnant.

She had been brought back to the Quinn Family before she could delve into the field of gynecology, which had interrupted her medical studies.

"You’re married?" the man asked.

"Yes."

The man comforted her, "Look at it this way, not being pregnant is better than having an accidental miscarriage, don’t you think?"

Vivian Quinn nodded. "You’re right. If I had miscarried a child that day, I would have been living a fate worse than death. Thinking about it that way, this misunderstanding wasn’t such a bad thing after all."

"Thank you. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Vivian Quinn. What’s your name?"

"Zachary Quinn."

Vivian Quinn said in pleasant surprise, "Your last name is Quinn, too? What a coincidence!"

"Mm."

"Let me treat you to a meal."

"I have other things to do. I can’t have a meal with you."

"Oh, right. My apologies for being so forward. You can just pull over and let me out. I can get a cab home myself."

"Will you be okay?"

"Of course. I’m not a child."

"All right."

Before getting out of the car, Vivian Quinn grabbed a pen and paper and wrote down a series of numbers. "This is my phone number. I have to repay you for your kindness. If there’s anything I can do, just let me know."

"Okay."

...

Rachel Quinn rushed to the hospital and asked anxiously, "Austin, how is Grant?"

Austin Grant sat by the hospital bed, his head wrapped in gauze and his left arm in a cast, looking sullen. "See for yourself."

Ethan Grant lay on the bed and spoke weakly, "I’m fine, Rachel. Thank you for coming to see me..."

His limbs had gone numb at the teahouse, and it was only after being taken to the hospital for an examination that he learned Vivian Quinn hadn’t used poison, but rather a substance that temporarily paralyzed the nerves.

’She knows what’s good for her!’

But even so, he would never let that little bitch get away with this!

Rachel Quinn said obediently, "You’re my future father-in-law, so of course I must show my respect. How did you end up in the hospital so suddenly?"

Austin Grant gritted his teeth. "It was all Vivian Quinn’s doing. She’s gotten bold, daring to impersonate the Phantom Healer to fool my dad!"

Rachel Quinn was shocked. "Vivian could impersonate the Phantom Healer? How is that possible!" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"Who knows what tricks she pulled," Austin Grant said with a hateful expression. "And we still can’t find the identity of that damn man in the wheelchair."

"You still can’t find anything after all this time?" Rachel Quinn was surprised. "If even the Grant Family can’t find him, could he be some big shot?"

"Impossible. I’ve checked Aethelgard and even all of Celestine, and I haven’t found any major figure who uses a wheelchair."

"I also don’t think anyone is a match for the Grant Family, so Austin, don’t worry too much. Maybe he’s a nobody."

"You two are still too young," Ethan Grant said. "The person backing Vivian Quinn is definitely not simple."

He had ordered his men to gang-rape Vivian Quinn, but those three men disappeared, and Vivian was completely unharmed.

He sent people to investigate the whereabouts of those three men, but there has been no news since.

In Aethelgard, anyone who can make three people vanish without a trace, so cleanly that even he can’t find them, is definitely no simple figure!

"Since Dad said so, I have even more reason to investigate thoroughly! Besides, I suspect Vivian Quinn has already married that cripple!" Austin Grant analyzed. "Rachel, didn’t you say before that she had moved her household registration? She doesn’t even own a house, so how could she move her registration?"

"Yes, I never expected Vivian to do something so outrageous," Rachel Quinn said sadly. "I was really hoping Vivian could change for the better, but now she’s even dared to move against you two. As her sister, I can’t possibly forgive her."

Ethan Grant was very appreciative. "Worthy of being the Grant Family’s future daughter-in-law, you’re on the same page as us. Austin, use all of our connections to find out the identity of that cripple. I want him and Vivian Quinn to suffer a fate worse than death!"

"Yes, sir."

...

Vivian Quinn took a cab back to the villa and found that Jett Sterling wasn’t home. She called over a maid and asked, "Where’s Jett Sterling?"

"The master went out and hasn’t returned yet."

"Oh."

About half an hour later, Jett Sterling returned. Vivian Quinn immediately went to greet him. "Where did you go? Didn’t I tell you to stay home, rest, and not run around?"

"Didn’t you run around too?"

"I was taking care of important business," Vivian Quinn said happily. "Jett Sterling, guess who I saw today?"

"Seeing how excited you are, you must have seen a handsome guy, huh?"

Vivian Quinn laughed. "I honestly don’t know if his face is handsome, but he looked so cool when he was fighting! It was the man in the trench coat who saved me last time!"

Jett Sterling said nonchalantly, "Congratulations, you’ve finally found your long-awaited savior."

"Huh? Jett Sterling, you’re acting a little strange." Vivian Quinn looked at him suspiciously. "Normally, you’d be upset the moment you heard me call another man cool. Why are you so different today?"

Besides, she didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that this Zachary Quinn was a bit like the Jett Sterling standing before her...
