Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 140: Will You Divorce Me?
"Really?" Vivian Quinn asked in disbelief. "Who is it?"
"It’s Mason Landon," Easton Rivers said, clearly reluctant.
"How is that possible?" Vivian Quinn’s brow furrowed. "How could Mason Landon possibly save Joy?"
"He said he’s a match to donate his bone marrow to Miss Chase."
Vivian Quinn’s frown deepened. "That’s impossible. I don’t believe it. I’m going to get some answers!"
Vivian Quinn ran out of the hospital room, and just as she’d expected, Mason Landon was standing outside.
Their eyes met, and it was clear both had much on their minds.
"Vivian." Mason Landon’s voice was as gentle as always. "I had a compatibility test done in secret. Fortunately, my bone marrow turned out to be a match for Joy."
Vivian Quinn looked at him. "You’re not going to save her without a price, are you? What’s your condition?"
"My condition is simple." Mason Landon got straight to the point. "Divorce Jett Sterling and leave Aethelgard with me."
"Mason Landon, you’re truly insane." Vivian Quinn’s fingertips trembled. "Even at a time like this, you’re still trying to bargain with me?"
"Otherwise, why should I save Joy? Give me one reason," Mason Landon retorted.
"If I don’t agree, you won’t donate your bone marrow to Joy. Is that right?"
"That’s right." Mason Landon admitted without hesitation. "Vivian, I’ve never claimed to be a selfless person. On the contrary, I’m very selfish. To have you, I will stop at nothing."
"But I’m not yours to have!" Vivian Quinn’s hands clenched into fists as she fought to contain the rage simmering in her chest. "Mason Landon, you’re despicable."
"Call me despicable, then. I don’t care." Mason Landon’s gaze shifted to the space behind her. He arched a brow and said, "Perfect timing. Jett Sterling is here, too. You two should discuss when you’re getting a divorce. After all, the clock is ticking."
Vivian Quinn turned her head and saw the man in the wheelchair.
His handsome face was so dark it looked like a storm was about to break. His eyes, like abyssal, frozen pools, were suffused with a killing intent that was utterly bone-chilling!
Vivian Quinn’s heart skipped a beat. She had never seen Jett Sterling look so terrifying!
Mason Landon ignored Jett Sterling and turned his gaze back to Vivian Quinn. "Vivian, I’ve always said you’re a smart girl. You know how to weigh your options. I refuse to believe this man you had a flash marriage with is more important than the sister who has been by your side your entire life."
Vivian Quinn dropped her gaze. Her ears were ringing, and her mind was in turmoil.
"Vivian, I’ll be waiting for your answer." Mason Landon’s lips curved into a smirk. He shot Jett Sterling a disdainful glare before quickly turning to leave.
...
In the observation room outside the main ward, Vivian Quinn stared through the clear glass at Joy Chase, who lay unconscious on the hospital bed.
She showed no signs of life, looking as if she might never wake up again.
Vivian Quinn’s heart ached so much she could barely breathe. She pressed her hands helplessly against the glass as tears streamed down her face. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Behind her, the man in the wheelchair suppressed the pain in his eyes and quietly turned to leave.
"Master Sterling!" Easton Rivers came walking toward him. "I have something to report."
"Follow me."
The two went to a private lounge. Easton Rivers closed the door before speaking. "Master Sterling, we have results from the car crash investigation. Mason Landon was behind it!"
"How could that be?" Jett Sterling’s brow knitted. "If he’s the mastermind, how could you have traced it back to him so quickly?"
"I thought it was a little too easy as well, but the evidence is clear."
Jett Sterling’s fingertips tapped lightly on the armrest of his wheelchair. "It seems he thought he had everything under control. That, combined with the time pressure, meant he couldn’t make more thorough arrangements. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have traced it to him this fast."
"Master Sterling, Mason Landon has really lost his mind!"
"What’s so surprising about that?" Jett Sterling sneered, a cold glint in his eyes. "If he wants to play dirty, he can’t blame me for being ruthless. I’ll make him understand who really calls the shots in Aethelgard!"
"I know what to do," Easton Rivers said with a nod. "Don’t worry, Master Sterling. I’ll take care of it."
Easton Rivers left quickly. The man in the wheelchair slowly closed his eyes. ’Vivian, I won’t give you a chance to give up on me. Never...’
...
That evening, Nanny Jenner brought a meal to the lounge but couldn’t find Vivian Quinn.
"Ma’am?" Nanny Jenner searched the entire room, but there was no sign of Vivian Quinn. She immediately pulled out her phone to call her, only to hear it ringing nearby. She then spotted the phone on the nightstand.
Feeling something was wrong, Nanny Jenner quickly called Jett Sterling. "Young Master, Ma’am isn’t in her room, and she left her phone!"
"Find her immediately! I’ll have Easton Rivers pull the security footage."
"Yes."
Jett Sterling hung up, took out his laptop, and pulled up the hospital’s security feed himself. He quickly spotted Vivian Quinn.
She had left the hospital half an hour ago, hailing a taxi at the entrance.
Jett Sterling immediately tracked the vehicle and discovered the taxi had stopped at Mason Landon’s residence.
The man’s brow furrowed in thought. He picked up his phone and made a call. "Vivian must have gone to see Mason Landon. Have someone tail her discreetly. Make sure nothing happens to her."
"Rest assured, Master Sterling."
Vivian Quinn rang the doorbell at Mason Landon’s house for a long time, but no one answered.
She reached for her phone to call him, only to realize she didn’t have it with her.
After standing there for a moment, Vivian Quinn turned and left, hailing another cab back to the hospital.
"Ma’am, where have you been?" Nanny Jenner was frantic. "You can’t just be running around at a time like this! What would we do if something happened to you?"
"I’m fine," Vivian Quinn replied absently. She picked up her phone and called Mason Landon, but the call went unanswered.
She sat down, took a sip of water, and stared at her phone.
"Ma’am, you should eat now before your food gets cold."
"Coming."
Vivian Quinn had been smelling the fragrant aroma of the food for some time, and she was indeed hungry, so she went to eat.
But by the time she finished her meal, Mason Landon still hadn’t returned her call.
Vivian Quinn found this strange. Mason Landon had always been prompt in answering her calls. Even if he was busy, he would always get back to her quickly. A situation like this had never happened before.
With Joy Chase’s life on the line, Vivian Quinn had little patience. She tried calling him again, but this time, she got a notification that his phone was off!
Vivian Quinn shot to her feet, ran out of the lounge, and found Jett Sterling in the next room. She said anxiously, "I think Mason Landon is missing! Something couldn’t have happened to him, could it?"
"Why are you looking for him?" the man behind the desk asked coolly. "To accept his terms and divorce me?"
"I didn’t say that," Vivian Quinn replied. "And I’m not worried about him. He’s Joy’s only hope right now. If something happens to him too, how will Joy survive?"
"Then tell me, will you divorce me?" the man pressed on. "You know how obsessive Mason Landon is. If you don’t agree to his terms, he will absolutely not save Joy Chase."
"You said it yourself—you can’t lose Joy Chase, your family. So, to save her, you’ll divorce me. Right?"
