"Let's talk, Alexander. We have been bound to one fate. You killed me, you trapped me, and yet, I'm willing to cooperate with you… Let's work together…"

Its tone dipped further as its essence was extracted at a rapid pace.

"Ok, I will serve you loyally for the rest of your life. I will not try to possess you… Whatever you say, I will listen to it. Please don't…"

Its plea went deaf, and in a few moments, its voice was no longer heard in Sungjun's head. It ended with a chime from the system notification.

Ding!

[Wendigo's Essence Spirit has been extracted completely]

[You received a skill: Essence Steal]

Essence Steal: The user can absorb the skills and appearance, and memories of the target killed by their own hands. Note: Only works if the target is killed within a 10-minute time frame. Note 2: You can only use the skills of the last user you used this skill on.

"Hmm… should I use it on this fellow?" He rubbed his chin, gazing at the half-corpse on the ground. In his past life, killing a human wasn't something he could even imagine in his head, but now, he didn't feel a thing in his heart when gazing upon the corpse of Liu Wei. But then again, Sungjun has justification to convince himself anyway.

While he was pondering whether to do it or not, his thoughts quietly drifted toward Seongha. "I owe you one, Seongha. If not for your request, I would have never come here. For so long, I was struggling with having mana; now, I have enough mana reserves to be at the levels of my guardians. I couldn't finish the mission you gave me, but… I'll compensate for it by making your life better."

He smiled faintly in half relief and half determination, before something he remembered, and he went on opening the Divine Beast Transformation tab that he had just unlocked.

Divine Beast Transformation;

Modes:

Partial Transformation: All of your stats receive a 50% boost. (The user can use Overlord's Authority and its skills. Not all skills of the Divine beast can be used in this form.)

Full Transformation: All of your stats receive a 300% boost. (The user completely transforms into a divine beast and cannot use any other skills)

SKILLS:

Passive:

Instant Healing: The user's body receives a tremendous boost of regeneration that will heal his body almost instantly. (Need Full Transformation)

Divine Will: The user's mana turns into divine energy when it is released from the body. Divinity inflicts more damage on demonic energy and the undead.

The screen unfolded with a cascade of overpowered abilities he had never seen before, ones that seemed like they could completely overwhelm Overlord's authority—Claw of Dominion, Howl of Souls, Spirit Consumption, Primordial Beam…

But one skill stopped him cold, a skill that is no doubt an ultimate skill.

[Revival] — Cost: 100,000,000 Mana Points

Effect: Revives a soul whose death occurred within 30 minutes. Note: The skill can be used on a said target, only once per life.

For a moment, Sungjun's hand trembled. He knew that there were certain artifacts that could revive one's body, and there were certain skills that allowed people to sacrifice their monster companions to live, too. However, granting life to someone else is something unheard of. It was a power of god, indeed, which let Sungjun wonder why he couldn't unlock such abilities in his past life.

Putting the thought aside, Sungjun realized that he stood at a crossroads. One leads to him gaining Liu Wei's power of weapon creation, and the other leads him to revive Liu Wei.

His mind is leaning towards gaining power, while his heart is leaning towards karma. He did gain something more than he actually expected, after all.

"I have money, power, and now unlocked adequate number of abilities. Do I really have to be so greedy?" When such a thought came to his head, he whispered under his breath, "Partial Transformation, activate.]

His body was enveloped by a golden layer of energy, his eyes turning golden without any visible pupils. His hair also became longer and turned white, just like Liu Wei's, while a pair of horns protruded from his forehead and a pair of angelic feather wings erupted from his back.

Clenching his fists and opening them repeatedly, Sungjun took a deep breath as he looked at his arms. "This… how long has it been… I have only managed to unleash this form once. I guess the system is drawing the full potential of my bloodline…" Unknowingly, a smile crept to his lips.

"Anyway…"

Stretching his hand toward the corpse, he spoke aloud. "Use Revival."

A golden beam of light escaped his palm.

Ding!

A moment later;

Ugh

A faint groan broke the silence.

Sungjun saw Liu Wei slowly opening his eyes. His body was whole again; the large hole in his torso disappeared as though the injury had never existed.

Liu Wei blinked at him for a moment before realization struck. He sat upright, then dropped to his knees. "You saved my life," he said quietly, his voice steady but trembling with emotion. "I will pledge my loyalty to you, Mr. Han."

That single address, Mr. Han, was enough for Sungjun to understand that the man had seen everything, remembered everything, even when he was possessed by the Wendigo's spirit.

Sungjun's gaze softened slightly. "Do you still have your powers?"

Liu Wei glanced at his hands. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, and faint light rippled around his fingers. Then, in the next instant, a handgun materialized out of thin air. He then looked up, smiling faintly. "Yes. I think so." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Sungjun nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Then stay here for now. Keep up the illusion as Wendigo has been doing so far—create temporary robots, fake patrols, anything to make this floor look functional as usual, and wait for me. I'll return soon."

He was about to step through the portal when Liu Wei's voice stopped him. "Wait… before you go, there's something I wish to say."

Sungjun turned, curious. "What is it?"

Liu Wei was about to say something, but in the end, he shook his head with a smile, "Nothing, I'll tell you when I get out of this place."

Sungjun gave a nod and turned once more toward the glowing portal, "Don't worry, it won't be long."

With that, Sungjun stepped through the light—and vanished, leaving Liu Wei alone on the empty floor.

Once he disappeared, Liu Wei exhaled deeply, "Phew… he was gone at last. Man, he seriously stressed me out. But I hope he wouldn't think too much of me. I pledged loyalty right away in order to make him think low of me. Anyway, once I'm out of here, I'll vanish somewhere quiet—live in hiding, maybe start over."

His face hardened as he looked toward the ceiling before almost shouting in frustration. "Argh… why'd you have to show off your talent to that bastard Dongsik and end up in this pit of hell?"

He leaned against the wall, letting out a sigh as he gazed at the faint burn mark across his wrist. "Still, the Evil Spirit King's gone at the very least…" but then a moment later, he murmured. "However, he didn't have to revive me though. If anything, it hurt more than it helped."

As he spoke, a holographic screen shimmered into view before him, quite similar to Sungjun's.

Ding!

[System Notification: Spirit King Wendigo's bond has been severed from your soul.]

[You have been revived through an external resurrection method.]

[Warning: Resurrection via external means invalidates Cathedral revival protocol.]

[90-day protocol has been activated.]

Liu Wei stared at the message for a long moment. "Dammit. Now, I have no choice but to either starve here for 3 months or put my hopes on him."

After leaving the level-7, Sungjun reappeared in his solitary cell, the tiny, suffocating cube barely big enough to stretch his legs.

For the rest of the day, he simply stayed there without causing any more disturbance. He passed the time scrolling through one of the many PC tablets from his inventory.

With no internet, no signal, and no charging ports in this godforsaken place, Sungjun preloaded the storage space in almost a hundred tablets and phones, with movies, e-books, and games. Snacks, clothes, and even a few luxury items from the outside world—he had packed everything long ago, knowing he'd need small comforts in isolation. To make sure no one gets to hear it, he paired them with his noise-canceling earbuds.

And just like that, midnight came. While other inmates wouldn't know the time of day at all, Sungjun, who had the system with him, knows it in real time.

And exactly at 11:57 P.M., the cooldown timers on his skills blinked ready.

Ding!

[Invisibility – Activated.]

A faint shimmer distorted the air where he stood, and then nothing was left. He vanished.

Moving soundlessly, Sungjun walked through the metallic corridors, heading straight toward the medical ward without alerting the robotic prison guards.

In no time, he reached it, and when he stepped inside, he felt the freshness in the air around. Sungjun activated his senses and immediately found a living presence behind the curtains. "Xing Lin…"
