Chapter 312: Strange letter (1)

The system was once again silent, but that was an answer in itself.

"So if the Sixth Guardian Lord didn’t interfere last time, I would have received another fragment?"

This time, the system didn’t stop itself as it said, "If it wasn’t for that stupid monkey, then everything would have worked out perfectly. It lost control of itself at the last moment and actually went in for the kill!"

I was completely caught off guard when I heard this.

I never thought that the system would just completely ignore decorum and say something like this.

Or rather, I wasn’t even aware that the system was capable of saying something like this. I thought that the system would still talk in the same mechanical voice as before, but now it seemed that it had much more emotion...

I couldn’t even help feeling a bit sorry for the Sixth Guardian Lord when the system said this.

After all, it was clear that the system was unhappy with the Sixth Guardian Lord and I knew that the system was the one that was in charge of the defense system. That meant that the system was in charge of controlling the defenders of that system.

If the system were to suddenly act on this anger...there was no telling what would happen to the Sixth Guardian Lord.

I wouldn’t say that I was a diehard fan, but I still didn’t want anything to happen to the Sixth Guardian Lord.

So in the end, I said to the system, "Alright, there’s no crying over spilt milk. Just leave this matter alone."

The system seemed like it was pouting at first, but then it said, "Fine, I won’t cause any trouble for that stupid monkey."

The Sixth Guardian Lord who had been outside the room that the blonde girl was in let out a sigh of relief when he heard this.

He had been walking past when he heard the blonde girl suddenly curse him out and he had been filled with fear. After all, the blonde girl was terrifying when she was angered, this was something that they had experienced firsthand already.

They knew that if she was to punish them, it would be like being sent to hell.

So the Sixth Guardian Lord was thankful to the young master for saving him from this fate.

But he also didn’t dare stay here any longer since he knew if he was caught eavesdropping, the punishment would be even worse.

After calming the system down, I shook my head and walked out of the room.

I saw that the lackeys and the girls were all waiting outside for me, so I shook my head with a faint smile before saying, "Alright, let’s go home."

All of them quickly nodded in agreement before leading me to the Transport Array.

Who would have thought that it would be so hard to show off as a prodigal?

...

It had been three days since our trip to the Liu Empire and we were now back in the Star Peak Sect relaxing.

The matters had been settled by the Great Elder and the other elders, so there was nothing else left for this matter.

Though there was a group that was sent by the Central Sect Alliance to search the Jin Family’s Manor. That was the place where the demonic creature came from, so of course they wanted to see what that place was about.

The demonic creature was a creature that had threatened the entire continent, so they wanted to make sure that there wouldn’t be any other such demonic creatures that made their way through

Though, I knew that there wouldn’t be since the system had already told me how the demonic creature had made it through to our lower realm in the first place.

It wasn’t something that could be done over and over again, so we should be safe for now.

All I cared about was getting some rest and relaxation, which was what the system had promised me. It was just too bad that trying to act like a young prodigal had ended up like that.

Perhaps it really was best to relax at home...

Or that was what I thought until an incident happened.

"Young master, I’ll be leaving for a bit." Bing Xin suddenly came up to me to say this.

I had been relaxing in a chair while sunbathing and drinking some tropical juices that I had the lackeys squeeze for me, so I wasn’t able to process what she said at first. But then I looked up at her and pushed up my sunglasses to see...the concerned look that was on Bing Xin’s face.

To call it a concerned look might be a bit much since Bing Xin always had a more neutral face to begin with.

Though after being with her for a while now, it was hard to miss the trace of concern that was in her eyes.

I looked at her for a bit before saying, "Where you go is up to you, it’s not as if I would stop you if you wanted to go anywhere."

Bing Xin narrowed her eyes to look at me for a bit before suddenly revealing a faint smile to say, "I know, young master."

She turned as if she was about to leave, but then I felt that something was wrong, so I said, "How long will you be gone?"

Bing Xin turned around again when she heard this.

She just looked at me without saying a thing, but I could see that there was a trace of hesitation that was in her eyes as if she wasn’t sure what to say.

But in the end, she said with a sigh, "I don’t know how long it will take for me to finish my business."

Then all of a sudden, she bowed her head to say, "Young master, thank you for taking care of me all this time."

Then without saying a single word, she turned around again to leave, only there no longer seemed to be any hesitation in her steps. It was as if she had fully accepted her fate and went forward to face it.

As for me, I couldn’t help thinking to myself...

"Isn’t this a goddamn flag?"
