Chapter 310: Peace is better

"Then you’re saying that she’ll attract more demons in the future?"

"No, the individual ’Chen Xiao Hua’s’ physique is not strong enough to attract said demons. It is useful to be sacrificed, but it isn’t strong enough to draw in demons, especially those from the upper realm."

It seemed like Chen Xiao Hua wouldn’t be a ticking time bomb if she was left alone.

There was a part of me that was worried because of the special physique that she had, but it seemed that this worry was superfluous. It didn’t seem like she would draw in anything if she was left alone.

I was the one that stepped in to save her, so it didn’t seem right if I just left her.

Whether that was taking care of a mess that she might create or giving her a place now that this was over.

Since she wasn’t dangerous, then there wasn’t a need for me to take care of her in that manner.

But still, it wasn’t as if I could just leave her be.

Her entire family had been destroyed and it wasn’t as if she had the power to build it up again. Even if I were to lend some help that would let her build up a family again in the Liu Empire, that most likely wasn’t the best choice if I wanted her to live a long and happy life.

It would most likely just result in her cursing me for abandoning her in the end.

"Partner, it is in your best intentions to accept Chen Xiao Hua as a lackey. The physique that she has is good to train and would be helpful to you in the future."

I gave a small nod in response to this without saying a thing since this was what I had been thinking as well. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Since she had a special physique that even demons wanted, then there should be no doubt that she would become a strong person if she received a bit of training. Let alone the kind of training that I would be able to give her with my system.

When the time came, she would most likely be one of the strongest lackeys that I had.

Once the Jin Family had been taken away, I went over to Chen Xiao Hua and asked, "What are you planning to do now?"

Chen Xiao Hua had been standing there in a daze until she heard my voice.

Though when she looked over, it seemed like she was still in a daze as she just looked at me without any focus in her eyes.

With the way that she was acting, it was clear that she still didn’t know what she wanted to do.

After a bit of silence, Chen Xiao Hua slowly shook her head to say, "I don’t know."

I didn’t answer right away as I just gave a simple nod to show that I understood what she was thinking. I knew that pushing this matter would only hurt her, so I gave her a moment of silence to gather her thoughts before making a suggestion.

"How about you come with me then?"

Chen Xiao Hua was surprised to hear what I said as she looked at me with a surprised look.

I didn’t hesitate as I said, "I’m looking for another lackey if you’re willing to follow me. As for the treatment that I give my lackeys, I’m sure that you’ll learn plenty from looking at the ones that already follow me."

I didn’t say anything else as I was confident that she would accept, but...

"Thank you, young master, but...I don’t think I would want that." Chen Xiao Hua said in a slow voice.

I was completely taken aback since I was confident that Chen Xiao Hua would agree, but it seemed like she didn’t want to take this offer.

Emperor Liu had been silently listening from the side and he took his chance.

"Then do you wish to enter the services of our Liu Empire? Since your Chen Family has been in the loyal service of the Liu Empire, naturally we have to repay you for your services."

The way that he said this made it seem like he was just doing right to the Chen Family, but that wasn’t the case.

This was a completely selfish offer.

What Emperor Liu really wanted was...to build a relationship with Young Master Lin.

He had seen how close Chen Xiao Hua was to Young Master Lin and since she was already someone from his Liu Empire, it was only natural that she would join the court now that this matter was over.

Unfortunately for him...

Emperor Liu was completely ignored by Chen Xiao Hua.

It didn’t even seem like she heard what he said with the way that she ignored him.

If it was anyone else who treated him like this, he might not have taken it that well, but he just couldn’t do anything to Chen Xiao Hua. She had Young Master Lin, the one that he was trying to suck up to backing her.

So he could only swallow his pride and wait for an answer.

After a long silence, Chen Xiao Hua suddenly said, "Can I go back and work at the restaurant?"

I was certainly surprised since I never thought that she would suddenly ask this of me.

Of course, I was confused why she had asked this, so I simply asked, "Why?"

Chen Xiao Hua had a complicated look on her face for a while before saying, "I’m just tired."

I couldn’t help raising a brow to look at her as I couldn’t understand what she meant by this, but Chen Xiao Hua just simply said, "I just want to live in peace. Peace is better than fighting for wealth and power all day."

I didn’t say anything as I looked at her with a complicated look, but I eventually nodded in agreement to what she said.

Peace was certainly better and if that was what she desired, then I would respect that.

Everyone had their own preferences and I respected her choice.
