While the elders were still worried, Murong Yan suddenly gave a clap that drew everyone’s attention.

She looked at me with a smile as if she could tell that I wasn’t worried at all about this before saying, "There’s no point in thinking too much about this. Instead, let’s talk about something else."

She was still looking at me with the same smile even though the elders were giving her worried looks.

However, the elders eventually gave sighs and nodded in agreement.

It seemed that the reputation Murong Yan had among the elders of the Star Peak Sect wasn’t low. It seemed that even if the situation seemed dire, they would stop and listen as long as it was Murong Yan who spoke.

So they all waited to see what she had to say.

She turned to look at Liu Ao Xue with this smile as well before saying, "Now, when do you two want to get married?"

Both Liu Ao Xue and I were stunned when we heard this, but we weren’t the only ones that were stunned. The elders all had their mouths wide open to the point where even eggs could be stuffed in them without any problems.

That was just how shocked they were by this proposal.

The first one to react in the end was Liu Han.

He had woken up during my explanation and had been silently listening, but that was mostly because of Murong Yan threatening him with her fist. If he were to cause another commotion like he had done before, he would have been knocked right back down onto the ground.

So it was only after we were all finished that he was finally able to speak again.

"I refuse to accept it!"

Murong Yan just patted him on the shoulder when she heard this.

Liu Han looked at her with a hopeful gaze, thinking that she had somehow been convinced to listen to him, but those hopes were quickly dashed.

"Honey, no one cares what you think." Murong Yan said with the same smile on her face.

Liu Han looked like he wanted to collapse when he heard this, but he was able to keep himself from falling with his sheer will. Though most of it was because of his love for his daughter that kept him from falling.

Murong Yan just ignored him though as she turned to look back at the two of us and asked, "So, how about it? When do you want to get married?"

Liu Ao Xue was just completely frozen in place while her face had turned completely red.

On the other hand, I had recovered enough to slightly knit my brows before saying, "I don’t think that we’ll do that for a while."

Everyone was once again shocked when they heard this, but the one that had the biggest reaction was naturally Liu Han.

"What did you say?! Do you have a problem with my darling daughter?!" He looked like he wanted to fight me again, but he didn’t attack me since Mu Bao Bao had moved forward with her hand raised as if she was going to beat him down.

Liu Han could only stand down in the face of Mu Bao Bao since he couldn’t beat her.

Murong Yan narrowed her eyes to look at me for a few seconds before asking in a calm voice, "Why?"

I didn’t mind the slight chill in her voice as I calmly said, "Because that would be rushing into it."

"Rushing into it?" Murong Yan repeated before asking, "You’re together now, so how would that be rushing into it?" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

I shook my head before saying, "Even if we’re together, that doesn’t mean that we’ve known each other for that long, right? This is a big decision and it’s not something that can be rushed into. It’s better to get to know each other before we do that, don’t you think?"

Murong Yan slightly knitted her brows, but she eventually gave a nod of agreement.

Though Liu Ao Xue was a bit disappointed as well, she also nodded in agreement.

She had been overwhelmed by what her mother had suddenly said, but she agreed with what I said in the end.

Even if there was a small part of her that wanted to do it, she also knew that I was completely right about this. Rushing into things like this would never be a good thing since there were too many things that could go wrong.

It would always be better to slowly get to know the other person before taking that next big step.

Before anyone else could say anything though, Mu Bao Bao suddenly asked, "What is getting married? Is it tasty?"

Everyone looked at her with a bitter smile when they heard this, all except for Murong Yan who looked at her with a smile like a mother would.

Murong Yan went over to Mu Bao Bao’s side and surprisingly, Mu Bao Bao didn’t stop her. She just let her come over and take her in her arms without resisting at all.

Once Murong Yan had Mu Bao Bao in her arms like this, she said, "It’s not something to eat. It’s something that two people who really like each other do so that they can stay together forever."

Mu Bao Bao tilted her head to think about it before looking at me to say, "Should we get married then?"

Liu Ao Xue immediately moved in front of me as if she was protecting me from Mu Bao Bao.

Murong Yan just shook her head with a gentle smile before patting Mu Bao Bao on the head and saying, "It’s not like that. You don’t have to get married if you want to stay with a friend forever. Getting married is only for someone that you love very much."

Mu Bao Bao tilted her head before saying, "I don’t get it."

Murong Yan once again patted Mu Bao Bao’s head before saying, "You don’t have to get it. It’s fine if you just learn on your own in time."

Mu Bao Bao still had her head tilted as she looked at Murong Yan, but she eventually gave a nod.

I couldn’t help asking in a surprised voice to Mu Bao Bao, "Are you alright being hugged like this?"

Mu Bao Bao looked at me with a surprised look before slowly saying with a nod, "Well, I don’t know what to say...but she reminds me of my mother. So I’m not against it."

Murong Yan’s eyes lit up when she heard this before saying, "I’ve always wanted a cute daughter like you as well."

Liu Ao Xue pouted her lips when she heard this.

She was prone to being jealous and now it seemed that she was jealous over her mother treating someone else well.

Murong Yan naturally saw this as well, so she said, "You were too capable and never needed me, plus I had to act like the stern elder, so I could never treat you the way that I wanted to. This is just my way of making up for that time." But she still reached one arm out and said, "But you’re still my daughter and of course I love you. So come here."

Liu Ao Xue hesitated a bit before walking over and entering Murong Yan’s embrace as well.

Seeing the two of them in her embrace like this, Murong Yan suddenly said, "I know, you two can be sworn sisters. That way I can have another cute daughter."

"Eh?" Liu Ao Xue and Mu Bao Bao said at the same time as they looked at each other with strange looks.
