"Mogiana... is there something particularly worth discussing between us that you insisted on talking about in this environment? Why not during our meal with the Lady?" Laine was a bit puzzled; why did Mogiana choose not to speak earlier and instead come to his room?

"It's nothing particularly important, just... a little curious about your Dark Elf Maid... how did you end up with her?" Mogiana gestured for Laine to come to the bed. The Lake God Witch had been in a bad mood lately, often chiding others without reason. She vaguely knew why in her heart, but she was unwilling to admit it openly. Her self-justification was that once Laine got married, it would no longer be appropriate for her to constantly seek him for treatment.

Keeping Laine as her healer was of utmost importance. Mogiana realized that even if she fully recovered, the treatment couldn't stop! Otherwise, there would be a risk of relapse.

She insisted on this belief.

If this marriage weren't arranged by the Lake Fairy, Mogiana thought she would definitely find a way to void the engagement. For a Lake God Witch who held significant power in this country, it was just a matter of a reason and a word.

"This matter is a long story..." Laine burrowed into the duvet scented with iris, holding Mogiana on his lap. He recounted to her the series of events from his encounter with Hadrian, the president of the Luigi Commerce Association. The story concluded with Laine obtaining a Secret Silver Vein, a Dark Elf Maid, and a business partner, while Hadrian opened pathways into Marinburg's upper echelons.

Laine always felt like ranting about it. Hadrian's method was extremely risky; if he had encountered someone with a volatile temper (like Angerong, Angerong, or Angerong again), the merchant would not only fail but might even risk his life.

Afterwards, Hadrian admitted that he had studied Laine's temperament and knew he wouldn't act hastily, which is why he took such a bold risk. However, for a merchant, the bigger the risk, the greater the reward. Without risk-taking, a higher return wouldn't be possible.

People who kill at the drop of a hat are typically Chaos Cultists or rogue bandits, as that's the mindset ingrained in them from youth. A knight with proper upbringing would not resort to violence lightly; many issues can't be solved through force alone.

To many, violence is the quickest and most effective solution: disagree with me, kill; don't like the look, kill; ideological differences, kill; not one of us, kill.

Laine thought it was a shame such people weren't Chosen of Khorne because Khorne's followers behave just like that. A knight's duty is to protect, not destroy.

Realizing he had digressed, Laine tightened his hold on Mogiana in his arms. "I've finished my story."

"For such a suspiciously sourced Dark Elf, why do you trust her and even make her your personal maid? Aren't you afraid she'd harm you with a dagger or poison?" Mogiana found a cozy spot in Laine's embrace, resting against his chest, and wrapped her arms around his neck. If that damned Dark Elf wasn't around, she thought, she would be the one resting with Laine every night: "Dark Elves are inherently evil, worship the Blood Hand God Kaine, and delight in various forbidden rituals and pleasing the Evil God through killing. Occasionally, they even raid the coast from the Barbarian Alliance in the north... How do you know she won't harm you?"

In the room, magical machinery whirred, the air conditioning blew cold air, and the windows were covered by thick curtains, leaving only the candle by the bedside burning as Laine held the Lake God Witch's waist, looking at her with a half-smile: "Mogiana, you must be trying to learn more about Ollica from me?"

"I'm thinking of your well-being!" Mogiana's beautiful face showed a bit of displeasure: "Keeping such a magically capable and enigmatic Dark Elf is bound to bring you harm in the end."

"As for Ollica's background, I'm not entirely clear myself." Laine's large hand gently untied the waist string of Mogiana's nightgown: "But she couldn't possibly harm me; she's unable to."

"So you don't know her background either?" Mogiana raised her golden eyebrows: "You're incredibly confident, Laine. I recall that little maid Amelia of yours is also of unknown origin, right? Do you really think you can conquer them? Laine, you're not the same as them. Amelia, being human, is one thing, but that Dark Elf..."

"...Mogiana, I know what you mean. Ollica is indeed a Dark Elf, but that doesn't matter. Previously, she didn't have the ability to threaten me, so I trust her. Later, even when she regained her power, it all came from me, Mogiana, just like this." Laine teasingly caressed Mogiana's smooth, silky abdomen.

Understanding dawned on Mogiana, and her face turned crimson as she grasped Laine's hand with both embarrassment and annoyance: "Don't talk about this!"

When spending private moments alone with Laine, the Lake God Witch was actually very tender and shy. As long as Laine initiated, Mogiana would silently accommodate, holding a pillow and silently complying, except for kissing moments when she often covered her face.
