War of Roses: The Proud Tycoon,Please Surrender!-Chapter 236: Tang Yuxiu, I Like You
Gu Yan returned to the villa, and she was the only one there, feeling desolate and lonely.
Sitting on the sofa, Gu Yan stared at the blank LCD TV screen, lost in thoughts of every moment with Tang Yuxiu since they first met.
When they first met, she accidentally bumped into him, and he actually took off his clothes right then and there. How severe must his obsessive-compulsive disorder be to do such a thing?
So straightforward, as if there wasn’t a hint of hesitation.
Back then, she really couldn’t stand him.
Her upbringing gave her a different perspective on life than he had. He had the privilege to live as he pleased, indulging in his extravagant cleanliness, but she couldn’t.
Since she was young, her life was very frugal, not allowing herself to waste a single penny, not even a piece of clothing.
She remembered winters when Mrs. Gu wouldn’t buy her winter clothes, and she was particularly cold, so she piled on all her available clothes, even thin short sleeves, to keep warm.
At that time, she was very resentful of Tang Yuxiu’s habit of casually throwing away clothes.
From that moment on, she realized deeply that there was a world of distance between her and Tang Yuxiu; they could never be together. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
She thought Tang Yuxiu was just a passerby in her life, and after that encounter, they wouldn’t intersect again.
But later, they coincidentally met again, and so many things happened.
But she never expected that one day, they would still become mere passersby in each other’s lives, turning into a scenery that grew further and further apart.
Everyone keeps moving forward; after a long time, when they look back occasionally, this scenery might not be visible anymore.
Gu Yan believed that at some point, Tang Yuxiu truly liked her.
But there were too many obstacles between them, even lacking the most basic trust. She always felt inferior and thought she couldn’t match him, so when any issues arose, they made her retreat, afraid to believe, afraid to take another step forward.
The problems between her and Tang Yuxiu were no longer as superficial as a diagnostic report or whether Tang Yuxiu and Nie Rong had a relationship.
The biggest problem lay within her; deep down, she subconsciously didn’t believe Tang Yuxiu, didn’t believe he would genuinely like her.
Since she couldn’t wholeheartedly, without any impurities or worries, like him, what was the point of staying by his side?
It would be better to leave, for her own good and for Tang Yuxiu’s as well.
Perhaps Tang Yuxiu would be angry, maybe even a bit reluctant, but time can wash away everything, forget everything. With so many outstanding and beautiful women around him, and an elegant and gentle lady like Nie Rong, he would forget about her soon enough, she believed.
She envisioned many futures, but now she was confused, not knowing what to do next.
She went upstairs, entered the walk-in closet, where the clothes were all provided by Tang Yuxiu, while her old clothes were tucked away in a corner, packed in the suitcase she brought when moving in.
She opened it; those clothes and other things stuffed inside were still there, untouched.
Gu Yan sat directly on the floor, staring vacantly; when she left, she would take her suitcase and not take any of Tang Yuxiu’s belongings.
After leaving, she would completely forget him, live a brand new life.
A simple life, suited for someone like her.
Gu Yan became lost in thought, and gradually, her nose turned red, her eyes reddened, and tears quickly gathered, so much so that they overflowed, silently trailing down her cheeks, falling onto the floor and spreading into a small circle of water.
Clearly, she liked him a lot, yet she had to leave heartlessly; it pained her heart too much to describe.
Tang Yuxiu didn’t return until late at night, and the first thing he did was to check on Gu Yan in the bedroom.
She was curled up in the corner of the bed, sleeping quietly, with the soft light from the bedside lamp casting a hazy beauty on her face.
Tang Yuxiu couldn’t help but reach out and gently touch her cheek; he hadn’t seen her all day, but as long as she was still home when he returned, he felt content.
He gazed at her sleeping face for a long time, his hand lingering on her cheek, touch light and delicate, afraid of disturbing her.
When he finally came back to his senses and realized he had been looking for too long, he was about to withdraw his hand but was suddenly grabbed.
Startled, Tang Yuxiu looked up to see Gu Yan had already opened her eyes, staring straight at him, holding his hand tightly.
The two of them silently stared at each other, neither wanting to speak.
Suddenly, Gu Yan threw off the covers and lunged at Tang Yuxiu, wrapping her arms around his neck. Surprised, Tang Yuxiu caught her immediately, their bodies pressed tightly together, exchanging warmth.
Having stayed under the covers for so long, Gu Yan’s body was warm, while Tang Yuxiu, having driven back, was chilled from the wind, not fully warmed yet; they balanced each other’s temperatures.
Gu Yan suddenly threw herself into his arms, holding him tight; it caught Tang Yuxiu off guard, but he was pleasantly surprised.
Did this mean she wasn’t angry anymore? Had she come to trust him?
The thought thrilled Tang Yuxiu, making him hold her even tighter.
"Gu Yan..." he began, but before he could say what came next, she interrupted.
Gu Yan looked directly into his eyes, earnestly asking, "Tang Yuxiu, have you ever lied to me?"
Tang Yuxiu froze, unsure why she suddenly asked that.
"Tang Yuxiu, answer me."
"No." He replied immediately, not knowing the reason, but he answered firmly.
Gu Yan looked into his eyes for a long time, then nodded slightly, "I trust you."
She trusted his character. How could such an outstanding and proud person stoop to deceive her? She had nothing worthy of being deceived for.
Hearing Gu Yan say "I trust you" made Tang Yuxiu almost jubilant inside.
"Gu Yan, do you really trust me? Believe that I won’t lie to you, believe there’s nothing between me and Nie Rong, that the child is not mine."
Gu Yan nodded, "Yes, I believe you."
Tang Yuxiu gazed into her eyes, as if trying to discern whether her words were genuine.
Gu Yan thought sadly, look, not only did she not trust him, but he also didn’t seem to fully believe her words.
So are they really right for each other?
"Gu Yan, I won’t let you endure any undue grievance or harm. Give me some time to resolve this, and then no one will be able to stir trouble in front of you, causing discord."
The matter of Nie Rong’s pregnancy was reduced to an attempt to sow discord between them.
Gu Yan suddenly thought, if Nie Rong knew about Tang Yuxiu’s attitude towards her, her expression would probably be quite unpleasant.
Thinking of the expression Nie Rong might have, Gu Yan felt a thrill, like tearing off a false mask and seeing the real face beneath.
"I believe you can resolve it, no matter how much time it takes, I will give it to you."
Tang Yuxiu smiled faintly and kissed her lips, "Good girl."
Gu Yan’s heart trembled, she lowered her eyes slightly, hooked his neck, and leaned in to kiss his lips.
Gu Yan’s rare initiative surprised Tang Yuxiu, but it filled him more with joy.
After a quarrel and a cold war, Tang Yuxiu could say his mind and body were both traumatized and needed Gu Yan’s healing.
Gu Yan’s kiss was awkward, unlike Tang Yuxiu, who, though having never been with a woman before, seemed to master the art after just one encounter with Gu Yan.
Tang Yuxiu directly cupped her head, taking the lead, not letting go of her lips and tongue.
This time, Gu Yan, unusually, took the initiative and cooperated, without the previous shyness and awkwardness.
It was as if she was releasing something, venting something.
Tang Yuxiu naturally sensed her emotions, his movements became increasingly passionate and fierce, as if trying to sweep them both into a storm, to live and die together.
"Gu Yan, I know I make you feel insecure, but you have to trust me. As long as you trust me, I’ll definitely handle everything."
"Gu Yan, I’ve never had another woman, you’re the first, and you’ll definitely be the last. Don’t overthink it. Next time something like this happens, come to me first. I won’t lie to you, ever."
"Gu Yan, believe in my sincerity. You can only stay by my side in this life, only belong to me."
Tang Yuxiu whispered in Gu Yan’s ear, tormenting her heart inch by inch.
When she chose to leave, he displayed such deep affection, moving her and making her feel sad.
She really wanted to believe him, to believe he was sincere with her. She hoped so much, but she was afraid.
Tang Yuxiu wasn’t wrong. Being with him really lacked a sense of security. She was always worried he would abandon her, worried it was just a game to him.
She couldn’t find peace of mind.
Once a relationship starts, the initial satisfaction disappears, replaced by a growing insatiability.
She didn’t want to become greedy. If in the end there was no reciprocation from Tang Yuxiu, she didn’t know what she would do.
Gu Yan held him tightly, her lips touched his ear, "Tang Yuxiu, I like you."
She truly liked him. There was no doubt about that.
However, just liking doesn’t mean they had to be together. She always knew they weren’t suitable for each other.
She didn’t have the courage to face the thorns and obstacles on their path ahead. She didn’t have the courage to continue with him. She was a coward who retreated at the slightest challenge, not daring to step forward.
Hearing her confession, Tang Yuxiu’s movements grew more intense, wanting to give her everything.
And all that was hers was his as well.
After the passionate encounter, Tang Yuxiu held Gu Yan and turned over, letting her lie on top of him.
Gu Yan was exhausted, her arms weakly resting on his chest, her head on his shoulder, breathing softly.
Tang Yuxiu contentedly stroked her hair, not wanting to move, just wanting to hold her like this, forever.
Finally understanding why the ancients wrote so many poems lamenting love.
Under the peony flower, one could die and become a romantic ghost.
In comparison, he suited this line better: Under the hibiscus canopy, a warm spring night, the emperor no longer attends morning court.
Tang Yuxiu suddenly laughed softly, extremely pleased.
