Chapter 134: The Power of the Ship

The pair of them exited the coffee shop, one of them rolling and one of them stomping heavily, as Percy turned quickly on his heels and stormed off leaving Valerie sitting outside. She glanced around awkwardly, watching Percy walk and looking over her shoulder at the woman sitting in the coffee shop.

Her social skills were already limited when it came to interacting with people normally. Situations like this... well the dating sims didn’t usually cover that kind of thing, and neither did the RPG’s. So how was she supposed to know what to do?

Valerie let out a heavy sigh, gnawing at her lip again until it started to bleed slightly and eagerly licking up her own blood without even thinking about it. Her mind relaxed slightly at the tangy taste of iron as she contemplated her next move.

Things were definitely strange with Percy and that meeting didn’t go great after that little interruption. She didn’t know that they knew each other, but it had been a while since Valerie had seen Percy so it wasn’t like he couldn’t make new friends in her absence. Especially ones he was so strangely close with, even if his reactions were strange.

But after that, She probably had to find a new place to practice, and her well of ideas had already run dry. Where she would go now she hadn’t the faintest idea.

"Hey!" Percy called back to her. His faces still scrunched up in anger, but there was some softness in his voice.

"What are you just sitting there for? You’re a big girl, you can push yourself. Come on, my ride is this way. We’re gonna need it."

He smirked slightly, a hint of his usual playfulness finding its way back onto his face as he tried to soften himself up for her, even if the anger was still there too. Valerie blinked in confusion, taking a moment to process what was going on before she pushed herself over to Percy and rolled along the path as he fell into step beside her.

"Sorry I... kinda thought you weren’t gonna help me after that encounter."

"Huh?" He looked down at her with a baffled expression, "Why would I not help you just because of that?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"You know, so it doesn’t cause anymore issues between you and her... She seems close with you and I don’t want to get in the way of things. Complicate anything... Idk, it’s stupid."

"Yeah, Really stupid. Like mindboggling stupid. How anyone could look at that and think I don’t want you in the middle of things, I have no idea.

Hell, If she lunged at me with those fake nails I’d happily use you as my personal shield, that’s how much I don’t mind you in the middle of things." He said with a chuckle, gently punching her arm.

Valerie laughed bashfully, brushing her hair from her face and kept her eyes focused forwards,

"Of course you would, You can’t do anything with those flimsy show muscles. Don’t worry though Princess, I’ll protect you from that foul fiend if she comes for you again."

Percy put his hand over his heart, blinking his lashes dramatically like he was the main character of a cheesy soap opera,

"Oh my hero! How can I ever repay you~" He said in a terrible attempt at a princesses voice, before they both burst out laughing.

After a few seconds of silence, Valerie glanced at Percy with a slight hint of blush on her face as she asked gently,

"So if there is nothing going on between you two, what was all of... that about. I mean she seemed to be getting quite handsy and intimate for someone who you don’t like."

Percy clicked his tongue, rolling his eyes as a hint of disgust flashed on his face just thinking about it.

"Do we really need to talk about her? I mean even without your new development, you are far more interesting to talk about. Not to mention, you know, the whole magic thing which you still haven’t actually told me about.

So what gives with that, Ray?"

"Nuh uh, I asked you first Princess. I’ll show you mine if you show me yours." She said with a smug smile, making Percy chuckle slightly.

"You know that’s not what that phrase means, right?"

"Don’t care. Spill Princess."

"Ugh, Fine..." He said with a sigh, pushing his stupidly good looking hair out of his face, before starting to recount his tale with an irritated expression.

"It basically started at this event we did like... Three years ago, I wanna say. Just one of those Pro-gamer and Streamer collab things, you know? Clash of the Throne, that’s what it was called."

Valerie thought for a second before bobbing her head, "Oh yeah... I remember that. Jason totally stomped all over your teammates after they talked smack about him leaving."

"That’s the one, yeah. So at this event we get paired up and we actually got along pretty well. Good chemistry, nice banter. You know, just like talking and having fun like two normal people. So naturally, the people watching the show decided that we must be secretly in love, which started an entire ship and even spiralled into rumours of us dating.

Kaleigh didn’t exactly deny those rumours either. She got a little into them, I guess for some reason she had a crush on me or something." He said with a completely straight face at the end, as if he genuinely couldn’t think why.

Valerie rolled her eyes, shaking her head slightly, "Yeah. Total mystery why anyone would crush on you, stupid Adonis..." She muttered under her breath.

"Did you say something?"

"Nope! Continue with the story!" Valerie quickly answered, making Percy frown slightly before shrugging as he continued.

"I didn’t get wind of the rumours until they were in the worst stage, where people were fully convinced we had a secret relationship. The problem is... management heard about it even before me, and they also saw the popularity that it had."

"Oh no... They didn’t..." Valerie muttered, looking at Percy like he was a dead man walking.

He nodded softly, letting out a heavy sigh, "Yup... As far as the public knows, she is my girlfriend."
