Chapter 132: I’m Super Cereal, You guys!

Percy frowned deeply, as if he was contemplating the underlying meaning of her words, whilst he bobbed his head in understanding.

"Mhm. Yes. I see... That could be dreadfully serious, I can see why you needed to bring this to my attention. It’s a dire issue indeed." He said, his tone flat and stern, but overflowing with sarcasm as a smirk tugged at the edge of his lips.

He raised his coffee to his lips and finally broke behind it, his smile spreading as he let out some poorly contained laughs.

Valerie scowled darkly at him, slapping his arm in annoyance and then two more times just to make sure he got the point.

"Don’t laugh at me you dick! I’m serious!"

"Oh yeah, I can see that. As serious as a heart attack, or a slight migraine." He said with a smirk before laughing again, this time leaning backwards to avoid her next round of retaliatory slaps.

After a few more seconds of childish antics, and once Percy’s laughter had calmed down, Valerie gave him a proper stern glare, verging on the seriousness of a mother silently telling her children to behave in public, as she raised her eyebrow expectantly.

Percy gave her a confused look as he sipped on his coffee before placing it down and sighing heavily,

"Alright fine. If you need to know so badly, yes I’ve been having some light headaches now and then. But it’s fine. It’s probably the lack of sleep or all that stuff I drink. I know they say there’s a daily recommended amount, but that’s not like... a law or anything.

I can just cut back on it and get some more sleep and I’ll be fine."

Valerie tapped her fingers on the table, biting her lip for a moment as she thought more on whether this was a good idea or not, before sighing and speaking anyways.

"I wouldn’t if I were you."

"Wouldn’t get more sleep? Damn... And here I thought you were asking because you cared about my health." He replied with a soft chuckle, earning another slap on the arm.

"No you idiot!" She growled, before sighing again - although this time in irritation - before continuing with a heavy and serious tone,

"I meant don’t cut back on the D-fuel. It’s fine just... ignore the warnings and the recommendations. Drink as much as you can every day, until you’re ready to burst."

Percy shifted in his seat, giving her a strange look,

"Okay... and why should I do that? Is it gonna give me super powers or something?"

"Yes." She replied bluntly, staring him down with a blank expression.

A smirk danced across his lips for a second, as if he was waiting for her to shout ’Just Kidding!’ but even after a minute of pure silence, she never corrected herself. His smile died and he narrowed his eyes with disbelief.

"Wait... You’re not serious, are you?"

"As a headache. Pick up your spoon. Keep a tight grip on it, but don’t tense your arm."

Percy creased his brow in confusion, glancing between Valerie and the spoon before slowly picking it up and doing as she was instructed. Valerie’s serious expression finally broke as she smiled playfully, picking up one of the sweetener packets and ripping it open.

"Here, you could do with some more. But please, allow me."

"Ray, what are you talking abo- Woah!" Percy was cut off as his arm lunged forwards, like he was trying to stab at her with the spoon, before it stopped just underneath the sweetener. Valerie smiled again, pouring the packet into the spoon before his arm lurched backwards, dumped the spoon into his coffee and started to stir.

To anyone else in the coffee shop it looked like a perfectly normal, if a little bit awkward, interaction. But Percy had turned pale as he stared at his arm in disbelief as it moved all on its own.

No wait... That wasn’t right. It wasn’t his arm moving, it was the spoon. The spoon was moving itself and was just dragging his arm along with it to hide its movements.

When it stopped its movements suddenly, Percy slowly lifted it from his cup and stared at it like it was haunted. He looked over it from every angle, checking for any wires or anything, and even patted underneath the table looking for magnets or anything.

"How..." He stammered before looking at Valerie and losing his words. The girl across from him was still smiling, but it was an incredibly weak one.

Her face was slightly paler and her chest rose and fell a bit more quickly and heavily, as if she had just been jogging for fifteen minutes instead of sitting at a coffee house.

"How did I do that?" Valerie finished, smirking again as she caught her breath. Leaning forwards, she talked in a low whisper.

"Because magic is real. That is what I wanted to talk to you about. I can explain the details somewhere more private but... well... I was hoping you would have somewhere safe and private that we could practice the more dangerous stuff."

"We? What do you mean we? I can’t do any of... Oh..." He whispered back, realisation dawning on his face before he lowered his voice even more.

"You mean the drink? But how?"

Valerie simply shrugged in response, causing Percy to frown and lean back. He crossed his arms and tapped his chin, making countless different plans and calculations in his head.

After a minute of thinking, in which Valerie happily sat and watched him think while she sipped on her coffee, Percy finally nodded again before speaking in a normal volume again.

"Okay... I think I know what to do. I’ve got the perfect place we can go to get some privacy and-"

"Privacy?" A woman’s voice interrupted, before a slender arm draped around Percy’s shoulder and a pretty, dainty hand with clawed, pink nail extensions rubbed his shoulder and chest.

Valerie’s eyes lingered on the hand, before she finally followed it up the arm and to the face it belonged to. An incredibly pretty face with all of the latest enhancements to make her look like she had leaped right out of your wildest fantasy.

The pinnacle of modern beauty, with hourglass hips and slightly curled, bouncy blonde hair to go along with it.

Her lips were curled into a forced, but well trained, fake smile that showed off her pearly white teeth and when she spoke there was only a hint of aggression behind her flowery tone,

"What ever would you two need privacy for, exactly?"
