Chapter 171: Chapter 171- Soul Possession

Several minutes passed after the Divine sense of the Foundation Establishment expert scattered away, but Grey’s expression had not changed once. His perception still lingered near the Ancient Jade slip, but never quite getting close.

As the Spirit body of the Foundation Establishment expert saw this, panic gradually appeared on his anxious face. His face was twisted with expressions of fear, anticipation and hatred.

"This brat must know that I’m still here. If that’s the case, why I’m I trying to hide myself? I’ll possess his body right now!" The moment the Foundation Establishment expert Spirit body said that, a vicious expression appeared on his nearly transparent face.

The Spirit body gritted his teeth before starting the method of possession that he had learned from a Forbidden Art.

Suddenly, Grey’s perception felt a loud booming noise erupt in his mind. That booming sound was akin to the sound of several lightning and thunder sounds.

The moment those sounds erupted, Grey body shuddered intensely. He felt his mind go blank, and before he knew it, he appeared in a land that stretches as far as Infinity.

A purple moon hung high in the sky, and all around him, Grey could see dense purple fog. The purple fog was very thick that he couldn’t see give meters ahead of him.

"This is..." Just as Grey was beginning to speak, he head an arrogant voice speak coldly all around him. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"You little brat! You’ll surely die today, when I possess your body... Hehehe, wait! Why is there so much purple fog here? No matter," the moment those words rang out, Grey felt a strange and sudden pull in his chest, and he left the endless foggy world and appeared before a giant black statue.

That black statue looked exactly the same as the black statue that the Foundation Establishment expert had brought out before using his drop of blood.

But this statue was very tall and reached over ten thousand feet in height. It’s head could not seen, along with its upper limbs, bit Grey could see some parts of the slithering creature and the malicious spirit head.

A piercing force suddenly came upon him and rushed into his skull. Grey, who was originally weak before, did not have much time to react before he felt a strange pull.

That strange pull hurt like hell, it was even more painful that hearing those ravings and facing the divine flames burning his spirit sea altogether.

Grey had never experienced this type of pain before, but strangely, he was cool headed. He did not shout barbarically, but he held his head in the pain and gritted his teeth.

Grey had heard of such thing before. Before he even entered Sky Mist City, the Captain had once said something about Soul possession before. Grey at that time was immediately hooked, and began to show interest, so the Captain explained more.

"Possession... Is a very vile art. No normal cultivator can do this. Only Nascent Soul Transformation experts can do this because to create clones, they have to possess someone’s body. Without it, they cannot create clones. But even when the act is committed by them, the world still rejects it. Nascent Soul experts can create clones, but if any cultivator that is not in the Nascent Soul realm does this, then he is using an extremely vile and forbidden Cultivation method."

"If you enter a strange place that feels familiar... Yet at the same time not, then that’s the first stage of possession. The person that wants to possess you has already overtaken your spirit sea."

"Then, you will come upon the manifested image of the person that wants to possess you, the possession... has already started. The only way to stop a possession is to have a soul that is stronger than that of the intruder. If you level of Cultivation is higher, than will help... But not by much." Caster paused in his words as he looked at the dark and gloomy skies. His gaze wandered off. He spoke as if he was speaking from experience.

"Once you feel a pain in your entire body, then your soul... will start to be consumed by the intruder."

As those words resurfaced in Grey’s mind, the Foundation Establishment expert barked a cold laugh. But Grey did not hear the words he said after because in his mind, all the memories that he ever had since he woke up in this world began to replay in his mind.

It slowly replayed backwards like he was watching his life from just several moments ago. He watched as he flew towards Green City, then caught on some signs of the Foundation Establishment expert, after that, his memories went further to when he woke up with Roxanne in his arms.

Scenes like that continued until Grey literally began to see his life flash before his eyes. The different scenes continued, showing all that Grey had done from the beginning, all the thoughts that he had ever thought about, all the actions he had done, and all the actions he had not done.

Everything replayed in his head as if it was on a video player. But as a sharp piercing pain tore through his entire body, Grey heard a muffled murmur echo.

Grey heard the Foundation Establishment expert speak indiscernible words that sounded like, ’too much memories, or something else’, but Grey didn’t seem to notice. His mind seemed to have entered a trance-like state.

He was like a life less doll that was being controlled my a marionette. His soul like body began to lose the bright glint in his eyes. Grey’s Soul was slowly being possessed, so that the Foundation Establishment expert could wear his body like a robe.

Although the pain was immense and the pressure, so heavy like he couldn’t fight against, he didn’t try to fight, but continued to watch the scenes flash before his eyes.

However, as Grey’s life began to replay in his eyes, he eventually reached the scene where he awoke in this world. By that time, Grey could only feel a piercing pain in his head. He felt like his entire soul was slowly burning and was beginning to get incorporated into something else.

Grey’s voice rang out wearily in the endless space filled with purple mist. "I wonder... If it’ll show the memories... Of my previous life." Grey said in a low tone, but it did not travel far. Even the Foundation Establishment expert who was doing the possession did not pay much attention to him. He only kept muttering words that Grey could not understand.

Just as the scene passed where Grey appeared in this world, he heard a shout from the Foundation Establishment expert spirit body. That shout sounded like the Foundation Establishment was in serious pain and shock.

Suddenly, Grey saw a very faint and almost transparent spirit body appear before him. That spirit body was naturally the Foundation Establishment expert, who was initiating the Soul possession, but his expression was twisted in pain and extreme shock.

"What-what is wrong with your s-soul! Even your memories are fragmente-d and have holes in them, who are you!?" The Foundation Establishment expert shouted as he pointed at Grey in fear and shock. His expression was twisted in pain. He looked like he had experienced something that no normal cultivator should have experienced.

Grey looked at him with a stunned expression as well. He was also in shock. Before him, the memories that was revealed was only a blank a expanse of mist.

Time seemed to flow unnaturally in this mist. Grey did not what was happening, but he knew that this never happened before in his memories. The moment the unnatural mist appeared, the Foundation Establishment expert already transparent spirit body trembled even fear. Visible fear appeared on his face as if he was facing something unimaginable.

Grey’s heart shook with the scene that followed next. The next scene that followed seemed to happen before Grey transmigrated. In fact, none of the memories even betrayed that Grey was a transmigrator.

In the memories that followed, Grey saw a small city that was suddenly blasted into oblivion when a pillar of purple light fell from the sky. Both Grey and the Transparent spirit body of the Foundation Establishment expert understood what this purple pillar of light was.

"G-God’s blin-ding radiance!" The Foundation Establishment expert Spirit body said in even more shock.

Grey remained silent, however, his heart was deeply shaken. He could not even begin to understand what was going on, but he knew that the memories that were showing were memories that belonged to the previous owner of this body- the original Grey!

Although this scene showed the pillar of purple light turning the entire city into a corroded zone, most of the memories were distorted and fragmented. Like there were some missing pieces here and there.

"Just what is happening..." Grey said in a breathless tone. He almost even ignored the soul wrenching pain of having his body possessed and just continued to watch.

As the memories continued to backtrack, Grey saw someone float down from the clouds.

The heavens seemed to have opened up from the person at this moment, as the red sky that was beginning to gather slowly dispersed until the person floated down.

When Grey looked at him, he felt as if he was looking at the sun itself. His face shone like the stars, he wore robes that seemed to have all colors and no colors at the same time. His expression was one of calmness and arrogance. As he came down, the world seemed to have become blessed by a Divine presence. He did not even seem to be bothered by the pillar of light that suddenly erupted as he grabbed at the air.

Even though this was a memory, Grey felt a splitting pain in his head. It was as if the light coming from his face was too brilliant, too radiant, to be in this corrupted world.

It was as if the whole world was trying to reject his existence, and accept it at the same time.

The sky and the earth trembled as that grabbing motion was made. Mountains that were far away in the distance shuddered and began to crumble into dust. The clouds parted as that grabbing motion was made, and the sky above seemed have become a crown that the unknown figure wore on his head.

As this happened, a large spatial crack was suddenly opened. The moment this spatial crack opened, an oppressive aura fell upon the entire city. Even the pillar of purple light seemed to have frozen before this spatial crack.

On the ground, Grey saw two figures that were previously by his side begin to be lifted up. The moment Grey saw those two people, his heart shuddered intensely and the veil that used to block him from seeing his siblings faces seemed to have been torn apart.

Those two people were his brother and sister. The two of them rose into the air and beside the unknown person who had appeared from the sky.

As Grey and the Foundation Establishment expert Spirit body continued to watch on, Grey saw the original owner of the body he was inhabiting scream out loud.

That scream was laced with sorrow, despair and loneliness that could tear at one’s heart. The moment Grey let out that scream, the unknown person who wore robes with no color and all color, turned to look at Grey with an unreadable expression on his face.

He did not say anything, and instead waved his hand. Suddenly, Grey’s body fell limp. The figure no longer gave him another thought and carried the two person with him into the spatial crack and left.

But before he left, he cast a strange gaze at the unconscious Grey. He muttered some indiscernible words, and floated into the already closing spatial tear. The moment the figure walked in, the spatial tear completely closed and disappeared like it was never there.

But the world trembled like it remembered what had just happened. Everyone’s memories of what just happened was erased, including Grey’s.

The world around him darkened as the purple pillar of light fell from the sky and turned the entire city into a corroded zone.

More memories flashed by his eyes, but Grey did not seem to notice. Eventually, a sharp glint appeared in his eyes as he let out a broken laugh.

"I understand... Now. I understand!" Grey’s laugh was heavy and filled with sorrow. Those memories that had always puzzled him had now come to light. When he first transmigrated, the memories he obtained were fragmented and not complete, Grey could not remember the faces of his siblings, but now, as the fog that clouded his memories drifted away, he could understand some things now.

Grey let out a broken laugh full of sorrow and self-deprecation.

"I see, so it was all fake!"
