Chapter 46: 46. Body Training (2)

Even though he could use the moves copied by his infinite eyes whilst they were still on cooldown, that was only in theory. The techniques he used contained immense strength, but that also came with immense risk.

The only reason these techniques didn’t tear apart Licht’s pathetically weak body because his infinite eyes allowed him to perfectly control it; without that, Licht would be nothing but a brittle glass cannon.

No, He wouldn’t even qualify as a glass cannon because a glass cannon could at least fire once. He would shatter before he even pulled the trigger.

"If only," he muttered bitterly, staring up at the ceiling. "If only there were a way to rid myself of this cursed trait..."

Just as he was about to slip into despair, a sudden thought stirred at the edge of his mind

Yes. There is a way.

The trait that plagued him, the flaw that bound his body it wasn’t permanent.

It could be alleviated for a brief moment.

Taking a deep breath, mana surged around Licht’s pupils as he activated his most powerful ability:

"Infinite Eyes—Open."

A surge of divine clarity flooded through him.

Trait Evolution:

「Abysmal Sword & Magic Talent (-SS)」 → 「Divine Sword & Magic Talent (SS)」

Without wasting a second, Licht reactivated the gravity.

5x G-Force.

As the crushing weight bore down on him again and he downed another body training potion, its cool blue glow slipping down his throat like liquid fire. But this time, everything felt different.

Mana that had once resisted him now danced to his rhythm.

Licht began to move again, slow at first, but soon his pace quickened.

This wasn’t just training anymore. It was art.

Each step etched patterns of mana across the floor, every movement refined and graceful. And it wasn’t just external. Mana wove through his body like a golden thread in a tapestry, binding itself to his muscles and reinforcing his limbs and enhancing his reflexes.

And unlike before, there was no pain.

This...this was what true training felt like.

Liberation.

Licht could only describe it as perfection, but the one thing about perfection was that it was often fleeting.

Licht’s Infinite Copy Eyes only lasted five minutes, and once they faded, Licht was done for.

Ding!

「Infinite Copy Eyes」 duration has ended.

With that notification, Licht was like a marionette with its strings cut off; he hit the ground in a heap, gasping, limbs trembling uncontrollably.

"T-Turn off the gravity!" choked out Licht, voice weak.

The pressure lifted, but Licht didn’t curse or groan. Instead, a wild grin spread across his sweat-drenched face.

"Heh..." Licht chuckled between gasps. "That was just five minutes."

If he could train with the Infinite Eyes active permanently, his stats would shoot up like a rocket tearing through the sky.

But Licht could never truly risk that. Not yet.

Without the Infinite Eyes, he was vulnerable sitting duck.

Even now, that sense of fragility gnawed at the edges of his mind, he only managed to suppress it because Licht knew what came next.

To fully integrate the gains from gravitational training, he’d need to enter the Body Excitation Chambers.

And so, Licht dragged himself out of the gravity room... only to stop.

There, standing casually with a towel slung over one shoulder and a spear resting against the vending machine, was a green-haired guy in gym wear, sipping a sports drink.

Licht narrowed his eyes.

Oren Vask.

Noticing Licht’s gaze, Oren turned and walked up with his spear in hand

From the look on his face, Licht could clearly tell that this was not going to be a pleasant greeting, but Licht didn’t back down either

Ding!

Your Trait「A Valtier’s Pride (S)」has been activated

"Do you have a problem with me?" asked Licht

Licht’s voice turned low and chilling as each word became laced with an implicit threat.

Oren stopped just a few feet away. "That depends," he said, tone deceptively even. "You are Licht Valtier, right? Melinda’s fiancé?"

Licht raised an eyebrow, not answering.

"Figured," Oren continued.

"Melinda has been trying to handle it, but your family has been pressuring her pretty hard and forcing the issue. It sounds like the kind of move someone makes when they know the girl doesn’t actually want it."

Licht’s expression didn’t change, but the air grew colder.

"And what?" he said, voice low. "You planning to play knight in shining armour? Is that it?"

Oren smiled, but there was nothing warm in it. "No armour. Just a spear and nd a little self-respect."

He leaned slightly on his weapon, each movement seemed casual, but a firm look in his eyes revealed otherwise

"People might be scared of you, but not me. I won’t let you hide behind your family name to push Melinda into something she doesn’t want. If you’re really trying to force that engagement... then maybe someone should put a spear through you." freēnovelkiss.com

Licht blinked once... and then laughed.

"Oh?" he said, cooly.

"So the Vask family is ready to wage war against the Valtier family all over a girl?"

Oren scoffed at Licht’s words.

"When did I say that?" Oren then took another sip of his drink before lowering the bottle slowly.

"You’re not the Valtier family. You’re just you. One spoiled brat riding a name that’s barely holding together."

"We Vasks?" Oren continued, tone tightening. "We’re not as big as your almighty Eight Great Families, sure. But the Vasks aren’t pushovers either."

As Oren said this his smile faded into a sneer.

"Another thing to remember is that we Vasks look out for each other. I can walk into my family’s home with my head high, knowing my cousins have my back."

He stepped a little closer, his tone cooling further.

"Can you say the same? Because from what I hear, your own cousins are the ones putting bounties on your head."
