Villain's Survival: SSS Class Infinite Copy Eyes-Chapter 39. Crimson Frenzy
Chapter 39: 39. Crimson Frenzy
Thane kicked James’s body aside with a grunt, but he had still hesitated and that hesitation was all Riven needed.
He’s Gone.
Thane’s heart sank as his eyes darted around, scanning everywhere
But as Licht was looking around, a cold, slithering sensation crawled up his spine.
Shit! Behind me.
BOOM!
A bloody fist wrapped in crimson light slammed into Thane’s back, sending him rolling across the concrete floor.
Thane hadn’t even seen the punch that hit him, and before he could recover, the attack was followed up by a vicious kick that crashed right into his ribs.
CRACK!
Thane let out a painful scream as he was launched into the air,
When Riven saw Thane flying through the air, his eyes sparkled.
So, not wanting to be left behind, a bloody mist wrapped around Riven’s body. He bounced off both nearby walls, a blur of movement, before intercepting Thane mid-air.
"Caught you~"
Riven’s happy and charming voice made Thane’s heart fill with despair
He grabbed Thane’s head mid-fall and slammed it into the stone wall with such force that a human-shaped dent was carved deep into the wall’s surface.
Bang!
Thane hung limp, embedded in the wall, blood dripping from his scalp.
Riven clung there beside him, grinning as blood dripped from his clenched hand.
He looked just like a child happily showing off a painting.
But this all came to a halt when Riven felt something else tug at his senses.
Suddenly, his head twisted with a smooth, unnatural motion, like a predator scanning the dark
And that’s when Riven saw him.
Licht.
"Hello~"
When their two eyes met, Riven’s eyes gleamed with excitement, while Licht’s face twisted in clear disgust, but Riven didn’t seem to mind this at all and still spoke cheerfully to him
"We keep bumping into each other, huh?" said Riven with a mischievous grin.
"At this point, I think it’s fate telling us we should just hurry up and be friends, don’t you~"
Although this was a question, Riven didn’t bother waiting for Licht’s reply and kicked off the wall, backflipping in the air as he crashed straight towards Licht.
Riven smashed straight through the window, causing the glass to explode into a shower of jagged shards.
For Licht, the moment Riven approached, everything seemed to slow down
His heartbeat slowed, every detail magnified as if the world had become one long suspended moment that allowed him to see in crystal-like clarity
Licht saw it all,
The glint of bloodied claws slicing through the air, the shards of glass frozen mid-flight like sparkling daggers, and above it all, the wild, unhinged grin twisting Riven’s face.
In that moment, a raw, ancient feeling of greed and domination pulsed through Licht’s bloodline, causing a sudden flare to ignite in his eyes, as a strange arcane symbol bloomed in his pupils.
「 Infinite Copy Eyes 」
The arcane symbol in Licht’s eyes began to rotate at unimaginable speeds as Licht’s body moved faster than he could even think.
Licht casually side-stepped Riven’s claw-like strike, and then his fist ignited with brilliant blue burst of energy.
Wham!
Licht drove his punch straight into Riven’s core, causing the boy’s body to fold into a U-shape as he was launched back out the window he had just shattered at the speed of a roaring bullet.
Dust and broken bricks clouded his vision, but Licht didn’t care. He casually stepped through the gaping hole in the wall of his own creation, as mana gathered at his feet, allowing him to float gently to the floor.
The attack Licht had just dished out was enough to put any cadet out of commission. But Riven just cackled gleefully as his still twitching body rose to its feet once again.
Licht took a look at Riven and frowned.
But Licht wasn’t frowning at the madness in Riven’s eyes or at his strange demeanour.
He was frowning at what he saw beyond that.
With his Infinite Copy Eyes, Licht could see and perceive mana on a level deeper than anyone alive.
And it was also the reason that caused his usually cold and arrogant demeanour to collapse.
See, Inside Riven’s body, the mana wasn’t flowing in the way Licht was following and going through the usual channels and mana veins.
The best way to describe it was that his mana was leaking.
It was leaking everywhere and infecting his blood cells and blood vessels
But worse than that was the fact that Rivens’ mana and the blood weren’t syncing.
It was like pouring oil on a raging fire
The mana Licht could see wasn’t dancing, it was screaming!
It was pure and utter chaos.
’It’s all burning’ Thought Licht.
Whilst Licht was a little stunned, his system still continued working
Ding!
Your Infinite Eyes are observing the new technique:
『Blood Mana Style – Crimson Frenzy! (A)』
Analyzing... Copying...
Progress: 1%
2%
3%
Licht frowned as he heard this.
A grade Techniques weren’t common goods. If Riven was using such a powerful technique, how had Licht never heard about him when he played the game before?
hmm... could it be about that?
Before he appeared in this world, Licht remembered browsing the forum about the game and came across a strange post.
On the forum, there was a guy boasting about finding about a new character at the academy saying that the character could only be encountered on the very first day. If you didn’t encounter them on the first day, the chance to meet this character would disappear entirely.
The frustrating thing about the post was that the poster never explained the full process by which he met the hidden character and just mocked the fact that Most people were too focused on playing the game to notice hidden characters.
Licht wasn’t usually interested in conspiracy theories or secret nonsense, so he had paid it little mind and simply scrolled past it. But now that Licht thought about it...
Wasn’t that hidden character just like Riven?
The more Licht thought about it, the more it made sense
He had seen the true nature of Riven’s technique
If nobody was here to stop him, Riven would probably die from the aftereffects of his own technique.
This was also why if you didn’t run into Riven on the first day, you would never see him whilst playing the game. He would be dead by then!
