Villain's Second Heart: Trapped in A Fantasy Novel (BL)-Chapter 64: Stays In an Onsen
Chapter 64 - Stays In an Onsen
Ezra was a mire of conflicted emotions and feelings, and Rav's 'showing off' didn't help the situation one bit.
He found Oberyn sinfully attractive, but the Fae lacked something Rav had in spades - namely, the thing he was still gawking at.
'Might be bigger than mine...' Ezra gulped.
"I think...Oberyn and I need to talk a little more and get on the same page," Ezra exhaled, overwhelmed.
'I wanted to find love, not start a harem...'
"Right now?" Oberyn grimaced.
"I figured as much, which is why I'm getting out. This was a pleasure, boys. Let's do it again, hm?"
"Wait, you're leaving?" Oberyn questioned. He preferred the Ferin to stay - for more reasons than one.
But his concerns went unanswered as Rav snapped his fingers.
"That's right, boys. Have fun, and please - no fluids in the onsen or you're sleeping outside."
In signature Rav style, he was spirited away on the clouds faster than a tail flick. Gone in a flash.
"He's an absolute menace," Ezra whined. "Trying to seduce me like that - how morally bankrupt can a guy get?"
"I don't mind," Oberyn replied. "After seeing how happy I can make you, I'm sure Mr. Rav just wishes for the same. I imagine Ferin and Humans are similar enough in that regard."
"If anything, seems like he enjoys it even more than I do," Ezra groaned, leaning his head back. His heart returned to its normal, rhythmic beat.
'Rav would jump either of us in a second, and Oberyn is too naive to get the full implications of it...or am I just a prude? Maybe I understand this world even less than I thought.'
"In my world, Oby, we have something called 'monogamy' that I'm pretty hung up on. I know I mentioned it to you before, but intimate stuff is usually...well, intimate. Kept between two people, you know?"
Oberyn nodded. "Yes, I know. That's why I deferred to you, of course."
Ezra facepalmed. "I was hoping the intimate stuff would just be between you and me. Not just cause I said so, but...because I thought you'd want the same."
Oberyn stiffened, shifting uneasily in the onsen.
"Hey."
Oberyn stirred, tilting his head just enough to look up at him.
Ezra hesitated - but only for a second.
"You know... you can tell me if something's wrong, right?"
A flicker of something complicated crossed Oberyn's expression - unreadable, stoic.
For a long moment, he didn't answer.
Then, finally -
"It's nothing."
But Ezra wasn't buying it.
Oberyn could tell - Ezra's watchful eyes clawed at his inner world with ease. He supposed there was no use hiding it any longer.
"Ezra, I..."
"What is it?"
"I meant everything I said earlier. I can't imagine a day without you. I want to be at your side, always. I want to continue making you feel good, and I feel like we've only just begun our journey together."
"I feel the same way, Oberyn. Of course I do."
"I know you do," he answered, his voice laden with guilt. "And...that's why I feel so bad."
"I don't understand."
Oberyn sighed deeply. The relaxing hot waters of the onsen cleansed his body and soul, but his mind was a roaring tempest of conflict.
Finally, he spoke, the words soft on his lips but harsh to the ear. "You came to this world to find love."
"Yeah."
And then finally, the other shoe dropped.
"I don't know how to reconcile my feelings for you," Oberyn said. "Because I still have feelings for Tiana."
Ezra sank. Oberyn had mentioned it once before - his lost love on the moon. But the euphoria of the last few days, and the raw passion between them was enough to make him forget.
Or at least pretend to forget.

He hoped that Oberyn was moving on, forgetting about her. But now he realized that Oberyn still thought about her, every day.
"I'm not sure if I can give you all of me...because part of my heart is still on the moon."
Ezra's eyes lidded, and he stared blankly into the water. All the playful, sensuous energy from when Rav was around vanished into the cool night air. What remained was a somber reminder of the situation they were all in.
He thought love would be a freefall - a dive into each other so earnest and powerful that neither person could escape. But as Ezra considered his own heart, he wasn't sure if that's what he wanted or needed. The opportunity for a slow-burn romance was just as appealing - he could earn Oberyn's love through his dedication.
"Oby, I don't need all of you."
The words came from deep within Ezra's heart, a place he'd never explored before. It pained him to say it, but he already loved Oberyn. And he loved what they built together so far.
"Isn't it unfair...? I might deprive you of the one thing you came to this world for..."
"I asked the Storyteller for a chance to feel what it's like to be in love. Oby...my wish was already granted."
The Nephilim gasped.
"And I'm not worried in the slightest," he smirked, trying to fight back the inner demons swirling in his mind. "Because I know some day, you'll feel the exact same way about me. Break-ups are hard! I would never want to rush your..."
Their eyes met, a somber sort of look shared between them.
"Ez... you're really going to wait for someone who might never get there?"
"If it takes a hundred years, then that's a hundred years I get to spend with you, trying to win your heart. Sounds like a good time to me."
The Nephilim's eyes lit up, but trepidation still clung to him. "Even with Rav around? He's..."
"I've already decided who I love, Oby, and it's you. And nothing but your complete refusal of my love is ever gonna dissuade me."
He beamed at Ezra, his whole heart close to bursting. It might not have been love - yet - but the affection and longing he had for Ezra was profound.
"Ezra..."
"How about we get out and go cuddle? And you can tell me all about the moon."
"I'd love that, Ez."
