Villain's Second Heart: Trapped in A Fantasy Novel (BL)-Chapter 38: From Den to Den
Chapter 38 - From Den to Den
"O-Oberyn!" Ezra said excitedly, rising to his feet. "You're awake."
He stood there by the door, rubbing his eyes. He was wearing a long, baggy shirt that'd found, and either not wearing pants at all or wearing something so short it wasn't visible.
"Morning after my first time was rough, too. Cheers, kid." Rav raised his glass. "You want a drink? Help yourself."
Oberyn looked from the 'drink station' to Rav, slightly confused. "I -"
"How are you feeling?" Ezra said, approaching cautiously.
Oberyn began to straighten his posture. He'd grown comfortable letting his guard down fully around Ezra, but Rav was still new to him.
"Good. Where are you two going?" He spoke snappily, right to the point. Looking a little...jealous?
'There it is,' Ezra smirked. 'The tsundere in full force.'
"Oh, don't you worry about that, fairy boy. You see, Ezra and I have a little casual encounter scheduled over in the jungle, but my cloud only seats two. And, well, I don't think you'll keep up on those wings. So here's the deal. You let me have my fun with him today, and I'll have him back before dinner. Hm?"
Oberyn blinked, processing everything he just heard. "It's not up to me," he frowned, crossing his arms. "Ezra can do whatever he wants."
'Damn it, both of you. How'd I end up having to be the one to decide?'
"Do you want me to stay, Oberyn? I don't want you to feel lonely if I go."
The petite Nephilim rolled his eyes. "I'm used to being alone. I'm fine."
The Oberyn that existed when it was only he and Ezra was much more agreeable and emotionally intelligent. But it was cute how much he felt the need to posture for Rav.
"Sounds like we're decided. Ezra, follow me."
Rav strolled past Oberyn, clacking his fan. "To the den!" Rav cheered. "Er...the monster den! Not this one."
He walked outside, Ezra and Oberyn following behind. Once outside, he started to conjure a floating nimbus not unlike the one he brought Ezra there on.
"Alright. Phrygian Crystals are under the sink, the freezer might need a new one, so keep an eye on that. Feel free to use the onsen in the back, but only if you're done bleeding."
"Wha-"
Rav pulled Ezra onto the cloud in a sweeping motion, winking at Oberyn. "Ciao!"
And on that note, they sped away, the sheer force of their acceleration making Oberyn stumble.
Oberyn held his hand out in front of his eyes and watched after them, long after they disappeared from view. He couldn't believe how fast Rav could travel. It made his wings look like a joke.
He said it didn't matter, but he couldn't help but feel like he was the one being left behind. He sat with his feelings for a moment, before sucking them back.

"Now what..."
As he spoke, a black cat appeared out of nowhere, and frolicked over to him. She rubbed against his legs, purring loudly.
"Aw!" Oberyn said, reaching down to pet the cat. "I didn't know Rav had a cat!"
His weakness - small animals.
"Who's a good girl?" he laughed, scratching under her chin.
"Can I pick you up?" he said excitedly, repeating it a few times to the cat before finally grabbing her off the ground and hoisting her to his chest. The cat melted into a ball of floof as she nestled into his arms.
And so, as Ezra and Rav sped off to a monster den in a jungle, Oberyn found himself the real winner, and spent the morning playing with a cat.
...
Rav and Ezra finally arrived after traveling for about ten minutes - but with how fast they were going, Ezra had no idea how far they'd traveled. They could be across the globe, for all he knew. He kept his eyes closed because the sheer intensity of how fast they were whipping through the air made him queasy.
They landed in the center of a clearing, on a wide hill. All around them, stretching in every direction, was an expansive jungle.
"Alright. These are all pretty intermediate threats here, each one as strong as a Manticore if not greater. You ready?"
Ezra summoned the violet spear from his system inventory and braced it in front of him. "Shouldn't we talk about this first?" he said uneasily. "It's not like I've done a lot of monster killing before."
"You have a Desire system, don't you? I trust you'll be fine, hm?"
"Now might be a bad time to tell you this, but I'm basically out of that right now. And I don't know any spells or skills."
"Oh, my," Rav said. "Then I suppose this could be problematic. This is quite dangerous, you know. There's a reason I don't bring people like Deek here."
As he spoke, noises began to erupt from the nearby jungle.
"Well, I do hope Alcor can keep an eye on you. Here's how this is going to work. I need you to hit everything - ONCE. A nice, solid strike."
The howls of whatever was approaching grew louder and louder.
"I won't attack anything until you have. But once you land a single strike, I shall kill that enemy in an instant."
"Why the hell's this so complicated?" Can't you just kill them all?"
"Not if you want to level up. They're almost here - best of luck, Ezra."
The flamboyant catboy hopped into the air and crossed his legs like a pretzel all in one motion, and a cloud of magic appeared under him. It zipped him up overhead before Ezra could even register what was going on.
He looked straight up, and the Ferin waved down at him. "You won't want to be looking up here, Ezra - the monsters are coming!"
The jungle trembled as the first shadows loomed from the trees. Ezra's stomach dropped. The ground cracked under the weight of something massive.
Ezra panned around. All around him, in every direction, beasts were charging. These were nothing like the Manticore he saw a few days ago, nor were they like the monsters he'd imagined for a fantasy world - goblins, trolls, and the like.
No, what was charging him now were far more scaly, leathery, and enormous. In fact, he recognized them from his own Earth, though he'd never actually seen one in person.
"Dinosaurs!?"
