Villain's Second Heart: Trapped in A Fantasy Novel (BL)-Chapter 30: Rav’s Gift
Chapter 30 - Rav's Gift
The door to Ezra's room swung open suddenly as Rav barged in. He only looked for a split second.
"Now what the fu-"
"Agh!" Oberyn screamed. He threw the blanket over himself, covering his body. He was no longer glowing - or bleeding. His body had restored itself through the night, and he was mostly recovered.
But still, Rav just got a full view of him naked.
He clutched the blanket to his torso, his right hand still clasped in Ezra's. The human was only just starting to wake up from his dreamless trance.
"Y'all are doing a thing, that's fine," Rav said quickly, closing the door. Through the shut door, he called out sheepishly.
"Uh, Ezra? I did want to chat about something, if it's all the same to you."
Ezra blinked the sleep out of his eyes, and pulled his hand away from Oberyn. "I'll be right back, he said, looking over to his companion. Oberyn was trembling under the sheets.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Oberyn nodded quickly. "I just...didn't want him to see me like that," he blushed.
Ezra smiled, resisting the urge to stay and comfort Oberyn - he didn't want to come across as overbearing.
"I'll be right back."
Ezra hurried to the door and quickly exited the room. Rav was leaning against the wall, playing with his tail.
"I have bad news," Rav said. "Not sure if you noticed, but Oberyn's injuries were more severe than I anticipated. It would appear your friend no longer has a penis."
"He never had one," Ezra replied flatly.
"O-oh?" Rav stammered. "You don't say."
Oberyn came to the door, pants on and the bedsheet wrapped around his torso. "I'd like it if you refrained from talking about such things," he snapped.
Rav's tail perked up when he saw the Nephilim standing there. It was the middle of the night, and Rav had returned from his trip only a few minutes before.
"Nice to see you on your feet. Feeling better, I presume?"
Oberyn nodded, mentally inspecting his own body. The wound on his head still burned, but most of the cuts along his torso had already been sealed. One of the perks of being a Nephilim - he had incredibly fast regeneration. It would be even faster, if only he had some mana.
Rav directed his attention back to Ezra momentarily, pulling something out of his pocket and dangling in front of him. It was a necklace made of a black metal chain, from which hung a golden crystal.
"For you, Ezra."
Oberyn eyed the necklace suspiciously.
'Why would Rav be giving Ezra a gift like that?' he asked himself, anxious and jealous.
Ezra accepted it gratefully. "Thanks, Rav. Is this for our trip to Asteria?"
"You bet," the catboy grinned. "You put that on, and it'll be smooth sailing for us. It will override your mana signature, make you look just like a real boy - to anyone who decides to snoop. You'll have to keep your shirt on, though. No hiding that mark on your chest that I know of."
"He's seen your chest?" Oberyn inquired. His own injuries seemed secondary to whatever was going on between Rav and Ezra.
"I have seen every inch of that body, from every angle - I probably know it better than Ezra does," he smirked.
Oberyn could feel himself getting numb. "I...think I need to lay back down."
He started to stumble back to the bed, and Ezra rushed to his side to help him. He helped Oberyn lay on his side and pulled the blankets back over him.
His body was burning up with jealousy, but he only blamed himself. He left Ezra all alone. A nice, good-looking guy, left to fend for himself. Who was he to expect that Ezra wouldn't be intimate with someone else? That's what humans did, wasn't it?
He wanted to ask if Ezra had truly been with Rav, but his throat closed before he could. He couldn't bear to hear the answer.
Ezra didn't notice how Oberyn brimmed with envy. The comments that Rav made didn't mean much to him - he knew Rav was referring to his past life, Alcor's life. A fact that remained unknown to Oberyn.
"Don't push yourself too hard, okay?" Ezra said gently to Oberyn. "Even if you can walk now, those injuries were nothing to laugh at."
Rav proceeded into the room, lingering in the doorway. "Don't wear it just yet," Rav warned. "The necklace. It functions similarly to Oberyn's curse mark - it'll drain your mana while you wear it."
Ezra nodded. Suddenly, he didn't even want to be holding the thing, so he set it on the nightstand.
His gaze shifted slowly back to Oberyn, the curse mark fresh on his mind. As he did, he saw a circle of corrupted, black markings on the back of Oberyn's neck.
'That must be the curse,' he thought. He wanted to touch it, but figured that would be unwise.
Rav stretched, yawning. "Well, boys. It has been a long day, and I used a little more mana than I thought I would've, flying around so much. I'm beat. How about I make the three of us some quick dinner? Assuming you haven't eaten?"
As if by clockwork, Ezra's stomach grumbled. He'd been in such anxiety over Oberyn that he'd neglected to eat the entire day.
"That...sounds nice," Ezra admitted.
Rav clapped his hands together excitedly. "Then I shall return shortly!"
The Ferin went off to prepare the meal, leaving Ezra and Oberyn alone again. They sat in silence for a moment, Ezra unaware that Oberyn himself was stewing, reaching a melting point.
It wasn't his business. He knew that. He had no right to ask. And yet, the words clawed at his throat, demanding release
Finally, his jealousy boiled over, and he couldn't help but blurt out.
"Rav has seen you naked?"
The words shocked Ezra. He couldn't imagine why Oberyn was even thinking that.
"I think so. Technically."
"You think so?" Oberyn coughed. His exterior injuries were mostly healed, but his insides were still in rough shape. "What do you mean you think so?"
Ezra scratched the back of his head, realizing how weird that must have sounded. "What I mean is..." Ezra started. "Rav knew me before I was me. He was friends with Alcor."
"Friends with...a Harbinger?" Oberyn said, bewildered. "That cannot be."

Oberyn's fingers curled into the sheets. The more he thought about it, the more the pieces started to click together. Rav had helped a Harbinger. Not just helped - befriended.
"Was he...?"
