Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Suspicions About the Switched Babies

To be honest, Mrs. Sutton was definitely worried in her heart.

Aurora was the child she had raised single-handedly; Mrs. Sutton certainly understood Aurora Sutton’s character.

After twenty years of raising her, whether or not Aurora is her biological child, it doesn’t make much difference now.

Mrs. Sutton still hadn’t figured out what was going on with Aurora’s biological parents, nor had she found them, and she couldn’t possibly kick Aurora out.

The mistake had lasted twenty years; now their first thought was to make it up to Thea Shaw.

Secondly, to consider the relationship between the two.

The situation Mrs. Sutton feared most was Thea and Aurora not getting along.

"Not really."

Thea shook her head, "It’s not like Aurora did anything wrong."

In this family, her attitude towards Mr. and Mrs. Sutton, Zia Sutton, and Aurora was the same.

She couldn’t say she liked or disliked them.

Of course, the first impression Aurora left on Thea was not bad; since Aurora wasn’t the type to cause trouble, Thea naturally didn’t think otherwise.

"It’s good that you don’t dislike her."

Mrs. Sutton wasn’t forcing Thea to like them; it was enough if she didn’t dislike them.

Thea nodded.

Mrs. Sutton said, "By the way, I have a friend who heard you returned and wants to meet you. Will you come to her house for dinner with me tonight?"

Thea thought she didn’t have anything else going on and nodded in agreement.

Only then did Mrs. Sutton happily leave her room.

After Mrs. Sutton left, Thea pondered silently.

For the moment, nothing else mattered; what mattered was—making money!

As she was thinking, her phone started to ring. She glanced at the name and immediately was taken aback.

The call was from her adoptive mother, who she truly regarded as her real mother.

Decades had passed, and some emotions never faded, but Thea hadn’t contacted her right away because she had changed so much, fearing her mother might notice something.

Mainly, her mother was in poor health, and she didn’t want to worry her.

Her adoptive mother’s name was Lauren Blair. Thea answered the call and cautiously said, "Hello, Mom." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Thea, my dear."

Though Lauren Blair wasn’t in the best health, her voice still sounded clear, "How are things at home?"

"Pretty good." Thea avoided giving unnecessary details; neither reporting the good nor the bad seemed appropriate, "Mom, how’s your health now?"

"It’s the same as always. As long as I take my medicine, it’s fine. With some time and care, I’m much better than I was before."

Lauren Blair had been in a car accident, which had left her with ongoing health issues, and Thea had suspended her studies because of it.

Now with medication and care, she was much better. At home, Thea’s adoptive father usually looked after her. Later, when Mr. and Mrs. Sutton came looking for Thea, her adoptive parents thought it was better for her to return to her biological family, so they sent her off.

Lauren Blair mainly called to check on other things; she asked, "They aren’t bullying you over there, right?"

Thea knew right away that Mrs. Blair was worried Aurora might target her because of her identity.

"No, Mom, don’t worry. Aurora is very reasonable."

"Oh, her name is Aurora?"

Lauren Blair learned Aurora’s name and then asked, "Have her biological parents been found?"

Thea said, "Not yet, I think it’ll still take some time. After all, it’s been twenty years, and a lot of the records are missing."

"Still, she has to find them. In cases of switched children, usually one party does it intentionally."

Lauren Blair loved watching dramas about wealthy family ethics, and knowing the Sutton Family was such a wealthy family, she couldn’t help but speculate.

Thea chuckled lightly, "Mom, we don’t know anything now, so it’s pointless to bring it up."
