Chapter 249: Chapter 249: Secure My Position, Then Marry Her

Thea had been talking for a while but hadn’t mentioned buying a house. When Lauren looked over in surprise, she finally slapped her forehead and said, "Oh right, I bought a new house. It’s still being renovated, and I just forgot to tell you."

"That’s impressive! You can afford a house now?"

With the prelude of a stroke of luck, Lauren wasn’t too surprised. Thea chuckled and said, "I put in money, and the Sutton Family did as well."

Lauren was now calm and peaceful, "Is it under your name?"

Thea nodded, "In the future, it will be our home. Aren’t you going to stay at sis’s for a while?"

Lauren also knew about Chloe’s situation. Tonight, Thea’s news hit her so hard she forgot to care about Chloe. Now she turned to Chloe and asked, "What’s the deal with Jimmy Zimmerman?"

She almost rushed over to confront Aunt Chase, but Aaron stopped her, packed up, and flew over immediately.

Chloe waved her hand, "It’s too late, Mom. You should rest early. I’ll tell you in the morning. Talking about troublesome things at night will just keep you up. It’s all settled now anyway, and both you and Dad are here. What are you worried about?"

Lauren thought that made sense, so she went to wash up and rest.

Chloe booked a suite with one room inside and another outside, both with big beds. Lauren slept alone, and Thea and Chloe shared a bed.

The bed was big enough, but Thea hadn’t shared a bed with someone for years and had trouble sleeping, mainly due to the assassination trauma she feared. Tossing and turning, she gloomily thought, "Why isn’t this bed made of silk? Didn’t you book a suite that costs thousands a night?"

Chloe was exhausted and not having any of her nonsense, sleepily saying, "Then go out and book a presidential suite."

Thea: "...Does a presidential suite come with silk sheets?"

Chloe: "...Are you trying to pick a fight with me today?"

Thea: "Have you ever considered that you might not be able to beat me?"

"..."

Chloe eventually closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.

She sneaked a peek at her phone, having talked so much with Lauren earlier that she hadn’t checked it. She found that Landon Ford had sent her more happy little messages.

Sadly, Chloe was sleeping right next to her, so Thea, like a thief, didn’t dare look but did stealthily send Landon a good night message.

Landon knew Thea was picking up her foster parents tonight and that the whole family was together. Guessing they were delayed by something, he didn’t call. Smiling, he replied to Thea with a good night.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows was the bustling, dreamy night view of the city that made one feel like they’re in a trance.

Landon put away the last document he handled and breathed a sigh of relief.

The busy times were temporarily over, and for the next while, he could spend more time with Thea.

Lately, he also started pondering new dishes to surprise that little one.

It’s not that he needed to win Thea’s heart with these things; he just wanted her to know that a perfect man like him is a rare find. If she’s wise, she should consider marrying him sooner.

But she was only twenty, so it felt a bit rushed. Landon wasn’t in a hurry, at least for a few years, until he solidifies his standing in the Ford Family.

Grandpa’s health was still good, likely for a few more years. Before he passed away, Landon wanted him to witness him marrying the woman he loves, so Grandpa could have no regrets.
