Villains Act Shamelessly: The Heiress was the Great National Master!-Chapter 142: Master’s New Job, Confidentiality Agreement
Got home just in time for lunch.
But most of the time, it’s just Thea Shaw having lunch alone at the Sutton Family home.
Two in school, one at work, and even Mrs. Sutton needs to go out and socialize.
After lunch, a teacher came for two sessions, and as expected, Aunt Yvette Vaughn came over.
"Thea, luckily you’re home, I’ve got something to discuss with you."
Yvette seemed a bit anxious. With no one else around, she explained her reason: "It’s about a business proposal, but consider it me asking for your help. I’m not sure if you’re willing to take it."
A business proposal was definitely worth considering, Thea got interested: "Aunt Yvette, can you give me a brief overview?"
"How should I put it?" Yvette thought for a moment and said briefly: "I have an old classmate, a pretty good friend. I only found out when I contacted her recently that something happened to her family. It’s about her daughter..."
Yvette pointed to her head, subtly hinting: "Something’s wrong up here." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Thea looked shocked: "Uh, isn’t that for a psychiatrist? What good would I be?"
Yvette smiled wryly: "Of course, they’ve seen doctors, but none could diagnose anything. Her daughter was perfectly normal before, but after a trip to her hometown a month ago, she returned completely out of her mind. Her family over there is quite superstitious; they wondered if she might have offended something. They even invited others to take a look, but no one found anything wrong."
Thea paused: "I don’t think exorcisms are exactly my line of business..."
Yvette chuckled: "Don’t say that. I thought you’re quite adept at fortune-telling, maybe you could have a look and see if there’s something else. I’ve already spoken with their family, and they’re willing to give it a try."
Perhaps they were desperate, seeking help wherever possible.
Yvette spoke with some regret: "Such a bright student, to go mad like that, poor child."
Thea thought for a while, then nodded: "Alright, I’ll go and see."
Although fortune-telling is one thing, Thea doesn’t really believe in ghosts and spirits; she believes the dead are simply gone.
Whatever drove her insane, it sounds strange enough to warrant a look.
Plus, they’re paying.
So that afternoon, Thea set off with Aunt Yvette.
The family lived in another city. Yvette booked plane tickets, making sure to inform Mrs. Sutton that Thea wouldn’t be coming home that night.
Before leaving, Thea received a call from her mentor.
Lately, Florence Locke seemed to be up to something, answering the call with a mysterious: "I found a job."
Thea reflexively asked: "Legal? Have you checked the law?"
Pyramid schemes and promoting cult ideologies could land you in prison!
"Absolutely legal!"
Florence’s quick response only made Thea more skeptical.
She doubted Florence could grasp China’s laws so quickly.
Thea pressed: "What kind of job did you find?"
Florence replied: "I can’t say, signed a confidentiality agreement, otherwise there’s a penalty fee, and I’d go to jail. You wouldn’t want to see your mentor in jail, right?"
Thea: "..."
The more she listened, the more off it seemed!
What job nowadays requires a confidentiality agreement?
Hmm... Could Florence possibly have connections with some mysterious government agency?
Otherwise, what kind of job is that high-profile?
