Chapter 70: Chapter: 69 Julius’s Pridicament![Bonus Chapter]

Julius walked through the dark underground corridor, still wearing his creepy white mask.

He couldn’t stop grinning under it.

"Damn, my acting is getting better and better!" he muttered happily to himself.

He replayed the moment in his head, Rosalina’s "Rose Petal Eyes" activating, her red pupils glowing, then vanishing in a blink.

The next second, Mary (or what looked like Mary) stabbed straight through his stomach.

In truth? Total illusion.

She had swapped the real sword for a fake one made of light and shadow.

The stab was fake. The blood gushing out?

Mostly goat blood he had hidden in a small pouch under his robes, just enough real mess to fool everyone when the illusion faded later.

"Rose’s win in the Student Council President election is 100% certain now," he said with a satisfied chuckle.

"I made her look like a benevolent hero who saved everyone... and turned Alia, the strongest candidate, into a burden who almost got everyone killed. Perfect setup."

"ROARRRR!"

A deep, angry roar shook the walls from outside, followed by the sounds of explosions.

Julius tilted his head and smirked.

"Wow, they’re really going at it out there, huh?"

What was the academy fighting?

An illusory version of a dragon, the same trash monster that was killed by the trash protagonist.

It only had 10% of the real thing’s power, but even that weak copy was at Void Core stage of Bodily Ascension (early Domain Manifestation of Soul Ascension level).

And guess what? No one currently at the academy had reached Void Core stage yet.

"They’re going to have a really hard time stopping it," Julius muttered, almost laughing. "Good luck, everyone."

He kept walking toward a heavy door at the end of the corridor.

"So now... my last job is to steal the Divination Board and hand it over to Uriel. He needs it for his future predictions!"

Julius smirked wider.

This whole crazy plan, the past four months of setup, the saint trial, the fake attack, everything, had two big goals.

First: Get his avatar to become the Saint and awaken the Mind’s Eye.

That special power could only come from being the Saint of Benigore.

It was the one thing that could finally let him counter the Hero’s regression tricks.

Second: Grab the Divination Board, a super-rare artifact that could help greatly in divinations.

But stealing it normally? Impossible.

There were three Void Core stage powerhouses at the academy right now, plus tons of Spirit Core stage professors.

Julius was only at Arcane Core level, one serious spell from any of them would turn him into dust a hundred times over.

So he got creative.

He used the Saint Trial to pull attention away.

Then he staged the attack on his own avatar during the trial, knowing the church wasn’t allowed to fight back themselves during the sacred event.

They had no choice but to beg the academy for help.

And boom, the three strongest people left immediately to protect the Holy Empire.

That left the academy wide open... except for the Spirit Core professors.

But they were now busy fighting the "summoned" dragon illusion outside.

Julius reached the door and placed a hand on it.

"The road is finally clear," he whispered with a wicked grin.

He laughed in pure ecstasy as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper.

He unfolded it carefully, revealing the exact magic circle Rosalina had drawn just yesterday.

An impressed smirk spread across his lips under the mask.

"I can’t believe she... just like that, she—"

Suddenly, a sharp, ice-cold feeling stabbed straight into his heart, pure, life-threatening danger.

His golden eyes widened.

He blinked hard and started to turn around, instincts screaming at him to look behind—

But right at that instant, his vision blurred.

Blood trickled from the corners of his eyes, warm and sticky, running down his cheeks.

His legs wobbled.

And then, without warning, a vision slammed into his mind like a movie reel playing at full speed.

...

...

"I only explained the basic idea... and she just... boom! Created this masterpiece."

"Zaaxi..."

"Oriana 6... 9th Raiga..."

"T-2... Shale... Gaino..."

"So this is the Divination Board... huh?"

*BOOM!*

"So the intel was right! Someone really was after the Divination Board. You even orchestrated the whole chaos outside."

"Professor Ignel?"

"Fire Fist!"

"Let me see who you are!"

"J-Julius...?"

...

...

In one overwhelming rush, every single thing that would happen in the next 20 minutes flooded his brain, clear, vivid, unstoppable.

The trap waiting in the room. The professor closing in.

The moment his mask would be ripped off.

The look on their faces when they realized it was him.

"Huff... huff... huff... huff... huff!"

Julius dropped to his knees. His whole body was soaked in cold sweat.

The paper slipped from his shaking fingers and fluttered to the ground.

His breathing came in short, panicked gasps.

"But... how..." he muttered, voice cracking with disbelief.

"How did they know... that I would come here to steal the Divination Board?!"

His golden eyes, still leaking thin trails of blood, stared at the door ahead like it had betrayed him.

Panic clawed up his throat.

He had planned everything perfectly. Every detail. Every distraction. Every fake-out.

And yet... they knew.

They were waiting.

His heart hammered so hard it hurt.

For the first time in months, Julius felt something he hadn’t felt in a long time, real fear.

Sweat dripped from his chin onto the stone floor.

Julius slammed his fist against the cold stone wall.

"Fuck it all!!!!"

His shout echoed down the empty underground corridor, raw, furious, desperate.

Sweat dripped from his forehead, mixing with the thin trails of blood still leaking from the corners of his golden eyes.

He breathed hard, chest heaving.

"Huff... huff... huff!"

Everything—"everything"— had been for this exact moment.

He had spent four months scheming, manipulating, lying, hurting himself, hurting others.

He set up the Saint Trial distraction. He staged the attack on his own avatar.

He pulled strings across the entire continent of Alasker.

He endured the soul-splitting pain of gouging out your own eyes with countless cuts all over his body.

He even let Rosalina "stab" him in front of thousands just to sell the act.

All so he could slip in here, the academy’s most secure, most forgotten underground vault, and steal the Divination Board.

And now... a vision showed him getting caught in the next 20 minutes.

"Damn it all!" he snarled, sliding down the wall until he sat on the floor.

"I prepared "everything"... but why the fuck?!"

He clutched his head, fingers digging into his blonde hair.

This place was supposed to be perfect. Buried deep. Rarely visited.

During a massive attack like the one raging outside, with a Void Core-level dragon illusion tearing up the surface, no sane professor would leave the fight to come check on some dusty old artifact room.

And yet... they knew.

They were coming.

Julius forced himself to take slower breaths. In... out... in... out.

"Okay... let’s think this through."

He stared at the door ahead.

If he ran now, withdrew, escaped through one of the hidden tunnels, he could probably make it out alive.

But then what?

All the pain, all the sacrifices, all the blood and illusions and fake deaths... gone. Wasted.

And worse, the protagonist would get it.

That smiling, loved-by-everyone golden boy would swoop in after "saving" the academy, get praised as the hero, and walk away with the Divination Board as his shiny reward.

Even if Julius did the same things as the protagonist it wouldn’t matter.

Because he wasn’t the protagonist.

The world didn’t love him like that. The difference was subtle... but massive.

Julius’s hands shook. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"What should I do...?"

He had maybe 15–17minutes left before the vision came true, before Professor Ignel (or whoever) burst in, saw through his mask, and ended everything.

Run... and lose it all.

Stay... and risk getting caught red-handed.

He looked at the paper in his hand, Rosalina’s perfect circle, drawn just for him.

He looked at the door.

He looked at his own trembling, blood-streaked hands.

Then a slow, dangerous smile crept back onto his face.

"Fuck running!"

He pushed himself to his feet.

"I didn’t come this far to quit now."

His golden eyes, still leaking tiny drops of blood, burned with mad determination.

"I’ll take it. I’ll steal it...I refuse to let my plan go to waste!!!"
