Chapter 79: 75 The insects and birds are not quiet in the mountains

"Xiao Jian, what are you doing?"

Xu Qian’s face flushed. It couldn’t be helped; what woman wouldn’t blush upon opening a door to such a sight? Even if such a woman existed, it wasn’t her. She still felt shy, even after their relationship had reached a new level. It was only natural. It wasn’t just her; Wang Jian himself was quite embarrassed.

"Weren’t you going to sleep?" The moment he came to his senses, Wang Jian grabbed a piece of clothing from his chair and covered himself. He always had clothes lying around.

"I just finished showering." Xu Qian glanced meaningfully at the area hidden by the clothes and continued, "I was planning to come check on you, but who knew you were..."

Coming over was just an excuse. Now that their relationship had changed, she naturally wanted to be close to him. At that moment, she was only wrapped in a bath towel, with nothing on underneath.

Wang Jian had been rubbing his head awkwardly, feeling as if he’d been caught in the act. But when he saw Xu Qian’s attire, his gaze locked onto her, and he made no effort to hide his thoughts. "If you came to see me, don’t just stand at the door."

Wang Jian swallowed hard. Something was off with him.

This proved his theory was correct. The effects of the acupuncture technique were tremendous. He really, really shouldn’t have experimented on himself. He felt like a lion, and the way he looked at Xu Qian felt wrong—as if she were a lamb. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Xu Qian noticed his intense gaze, and it intimidated her. Her eyes darted away, only to land on the silver needles still sticking out of Wang Jian’s abdomen. Seeing this, she forgot everything else, fearing something was wrong. "Are you sick?" she asked, her face filled with concern as she rushed over. While asking, she placed the back of her hand on his forehead. "You feel a little warm. You don’t have a fever, do you?"

As she got closer, her gaze couldn’t help but drift to the area he had covered. Her face burned. The prominent mound was obvious, and she couldn’t help but tsk. "You! How could you be doing that when you have a cold? If you really wanted to, you could have come to me. Honestly... what am I supposed to say to you?"

Her slender index finger tapped his forehead. "Is it really that satisfying doing it yourself?"

She probably didn’t even realize the hint of complaint in her own voice.

"You’ve really misunderstood. I wasn’t... doing that," Wang Jian said with a wry smile. "Didn’t I tell you I was trying to figure out a treatment? I was testing it on myself, but I didn’t expect the effects to be so strong. This is the result."

"This...?" Xu Qian hesitated, pointing toward the mound. "What exactly are you treating with... this? You don’t have any problems down there, do you?"

Her face turned redder. Just yesterday, they had gone at it for an hour, and she wondered if the nurses outside had heard them. It was a good thing they were home today; otherwise, she couldn’t imagine a repeat of that. It wasn’t that she didn’t try to stay quiet, but she just couldn’t hold back. Thinking of this, she shot Wang Jian a disgruntled look.

Wang Jian was baffled by her sudden glare but continued to explain, "You know about Zhang Li’s condition. This method is for him."

"Oh, so that’s why." Xu Qian understood. With such obvious results, perhaps it really could help Zhang Li regain his vigor.

Her mind was sharp, and she quickly thought about Li Liping’s reaction. Li Liping’s abrupt departure today had seemed strange at the time. Now that Wang Jian mentioned this, a new possibility occurred to her. She guessed that Wang Jian had already talked to Li Liping about this. He was a straightforward person who didn’t hide his thoughts, and since it wasn’t bad news, he had most likely mentioned it. Xu Qian understood Wang Jian, but she also understood Li Liping. For Li Liping to leave so suddenly without a word meant something was clearly weighing on her mind. Remembering their late-night chat, Xu Qian sighed inwardly. Every family has its own troubles. She glanced at Wang Jian beside her. Women really do understand other women best.

"Xiao Jian, you still have the silver needles in you."

"Oh, right!" A few silver needles were still embedded in his abdomen, quivering slightly. After Xu Qian pointed them out, Wang Jian chuckled and removed them. The pent-up energy dissipated along with them, and as soon as it was gone, his reaction vanished instantly.

Xu Qian’s jaw dropped, slightly alarmed. "Xiao Jian, are you okay?" Seeing him go limp the moment the needles were removed was quite a shock.

Wang Jian felt a flicker of panic himself, but after discreetly testing things out and feeling a twitch, he was relieved. He flashed a wicked grin. "If you want to know if I’m okay, why don’t you test it yourself?"

Hearing this, Xu Qian knew exactly what he meant. Her cheeks, already pink from the hot bath, flushed a deeper shade of red. "Xiao Jian, you always bully me."

"No..." Before Wang Jian could explain, Xu Qian knelt before him. That single movement told him everything he needed to know about what would happen next. This was different from the time Li Liping had pulled him along; this time, Wang Jian was filled with anticipation. In that instant, the scene before him was all that existed in his eyes and mind. Xu Qian barely had to do a thing before he felt the sensation return, nearly springing up into her face.

"You’re so naughty," she murmured, giving him a playful glare before falling silent.

Their eyes locked, both seeing the deep affection in the other’s gaze.

...

While the two were enjoying themselves, a figure stood in the shadows downstairs, her face flushed, not daring to make a single sound.

This person was none other than Li Liping, the very woman they had just been discussing. Li Liping had gone home, but she had calmed down after about half an hour. Reflecting on it, she felt her behavior had been inappropriate. After mulling it over, she decided to return to the Wang family home to talk things over with Wang Jian. To her surprise, the courtyard gate was ajar, so she walked right in. Just as she reached the front door of the house and was about to knock, she heard strange sounds coming from a second-floor room.

At first, the conversation just seemed odd, but then it sounded like Wang Jian had really found a solution. What followed, however, made Li Liping blush furiously. Just like the night before at the hospital, Xu Qian couldn’t hold back. Her cries carried through the sound-dampening glass and down into the courtyard where Li Liping stood, well within earshot. She heard almost everything. Listening to the whole affair, Li Liping felt both shocked and titillated. By the end, her legs had gone weak. She didn’t even realize when her hand had drifted downwards until she felt the wetness there. She only snapped back to her senses when the sounds from above finally stopped.

With the guilty conscience of a thief, Li Liping didn’t dare bring up the matter again. Silently cursing Wang Jian for being a beast, she could only sneak away.
