Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 149 - 144 Believe in me and you can be cured
Peng Qing understood what Wang Jian was implying; he had a solution.
"Speak up!" It was like a ray of light in the darkness, and Peng Qing desperately wanted to seize it. "As long as you can save him, I’ll do anything."
"Is there a way?" Peng Qing asked repeatedly. Having grabbed this lifeline, he had no intention of letting it go.
He had met countless people and had his own methods for judging character, so he could see that Wang Jian was hesitating. The fact that he hesitated right after mentioning the patient and a possible cure clearly meant there *was* a way, just one with certain reservations. But in this world, if it meant saving his son, nothing would make him hesitate. As long as Wang Jian was willing to speak, Peng Qing was certain he could handle it.
If necessary, I’ll even stake my own life on it.
Peng Qing refused to believe this doctor could name a price he couldn’t meet.
"There is indeed a way."
Of course there’s a way, Wang Jian thought. His silence wasn’t due to any issue with the illness itself, but rather because he knew the explanation would sound, frankly, a bit mystical.
"And it’s not difficult," Wang Jian added, "but the method is different from what you might expect, and it requires your approval."
Looking into Peng Qing’s eyes, Wang Jian knew the man would agree to anything. He stopped holding back and said directly, "Actually, this isn’t a disease. In my view, it’s more like a beautiful accident. Not only can I save him from death, but I can also make him stronger than ever."
After speaking, Wang Jian gave a pointed look, signaling for the two medical staff to leave.
Cai Xing just glanced at him and, without asking any questions, waved to the two. "You two can leave us for now."
"Mr. Cai, Mr. Peng, the patient’s condition isn’t optimistic. If we leave and something goes wrong..."
"Doctor Liu, I know what you’re worried about," Cai Xing cut in smoothly. "But Doctor Wang’s skills are truly formidable. You can rest assured."
The doctor, whom Cai Xing had called Doctor Liu, wore gold-rimmed glasses and was impeccably dressed. He exuded an air of competence, though for some reason, his speech carried the hint of a foreign accent.
Peng Qing clearly recognized the man as well. When Doctor Liu began to speak, he proactively introduced him to Wang Jian. "This is Liu Yuke, an expert who returned from abroad. His surgical skills are world-class. I specially invited him to watch over Ping An. Given Ping An’s precarious condition, we’ve had experts on standby around the clock to handle emergencies like this. Doctor Liu has been the one managing Ping An’s condition until now."
Impressive. Wang Jian thought. He could tell this person was no ordinary individual from the moment he started speaking. His hands were obviously a surgeon’s, very well-cared-for, and he exuded an inherent confidence that couldn’t be hidden. This was an extremely competent surgeon, a true professional in the medical field. What I hadn’t anticipated, however, was the faint trace of hostility I sensed from the man.
Just as Peng Qing finished speaking, Doctor Liu Yuke interjected, "And where does this Doctor Wang practice?" He was naturally referring to Wang Jian, but his gaze was fixed on Peng Qing and Cai Xing.
Clearly, the great importance these two magnates placed on Wang Jian from the moment he arrived has bruised Doctor Liu’s ego. As a man who prides himself on his excellent composure and high self-regard, Liu Yuke is now utterly confused. His mind is racing as he reviews his mental list of renowned doctors. He’s going through all the prominent names he knows but can’t recall a single young expert who looks anything like Wang Jian.
Wang Jian hadn’t arrived in a white coat or any kind of formal attire. His entire outfit consisted of a simple white T-shirt, shorts, and even flip-flops. Considering his casual dress and his earlier assertions, it was no wonder Liu Yuke doubted him. Anyone else would have struggled to believe Wang Jian’s claims. If Cai Xing and Peng Qing hadn’t experienced his abilities firsthand, they probably wouldn’t have believed him either.
When Wang Jian heard the question, he understood what Doctor Liu was getting at. Essentially, the man has never heard of me and doubts my abilities. More than that, he probably feels I have no right to even speak here. Otherwise, why ask Peng Qing and Cai Xing about my credentials instead of asking me directly?
Peng Qing glanced at Wang Jian. Seeing his expression hadn’t changed, he privately admired his composure before speaking up. "This is Doctor Wang Jian. Chairman Cai recommended him to me, and I went to great lengths to find him. If anyone in this world can save Ping An, I am willing to believe it’s him."
"Hmm? Mr. Peng, this..."
Startled, Liu Yuke glanced at Wang Jian, then checked the expressions on Peng Qing’s and Cai Xing’s faces. After seeing their nods of confirmation, he said no more. Now, however, his gaze held a flicker of curiosity.
Previously, what Wang Jian had said sounded to me like those shamanistic healing rituals I’ve heard of—nothing more than superstition. But now, maybe he actually has some genuine skills. After all, I know Peng Qing and Cai Xing; neither of them is easily fooled. The fact that they still vouched for him, even after I subtly questioned his credentials, is very telling.
So, after a moment of silence, he gestured to the nurse, and they both left the room.
...
The remaining few were left in a somewhat awkward silence. Peng Qing’s words had drawn the stares of not just the departed Liu Yuke, but also Wang Jian and the Cai father-daughter duo. They knew one thing very well: before this moment, Peng Qing had held absolutely no hope. Coming to the Cai Family residence was supposed to be for recuperation and little else.
Cai Qiong gave Wang Jian another look, unable to imagine what he could have possibly done to earn such complete trust from Peng Qing.
Wang Jian coughed lightly. Since the person who was meant to be humbled was no longer present, he could only return to the previous topic. "Since they’ve left, we can continue. It’s best if what you’re about to see is kept secret..."
As he spoke, Wang Jian placed his hand on the armrest of the hospital bed and gripped it hard. Peng Qing and the others stared, their eyes widening in disbelief. Where Wang Jian had gripped, he had crushed a deep handprint right into the metal.
This... Am I seeing things?
Peng Qing paused, stared at Wang Jian, then turned to Cai Xing. "This hospital bed?"
Cai Xing gave a bitter smile. "What are you thinking? We bought this medical equipment from one of our own subsidiaries. Surely you haven’t forgotten?" He even pointed to the logo on the bed, which clearly showed the name Ali Technology. It was their latest model, made of an alloy three times stronger than ordinary steel. It could even be used for protection during an earthquake.
But an armrest this durable had been deformed by Wang Jian with a single hand.
For a moment, Peng Qing honestly wondered if Wang Jian was a superman.
Even Cai Qiong, who knew Wang Jian best among them, was seeing such a display for the first time. In fact, besides Xu Changqing, the three of them were the first people in the world to know.
Once they had calmed down, Wang Jian continued, "Remember what I said earlier?"
Wang Jian shrugged. This was a gift he’d received from his Qi Cultivation. Since taking the human pill, he found himself evolving in a superhuman direction day by day. Even if he didn’t remain a doctor, he could become the ultimate soldier. If the world of Martial Arts still existed, he could easily become the leader of an alliance. This incredible strength was the result of the immense Qi produced by the human pill.
The three nodded, and Wang Jian explained, "Peng Pingan’s condition is simply that the vast amount of Qi in his body has fallen into chaos, running wild and uncontrolled. If he’s willing to become my disciple and follow me in Qi Cultivation, not only can his illness be cured, he might even become like me. At the very least, it would vastly improve his physical health."
A better outcome would be gaining stronger life energy and a longer lifespan, but explaining that wasn’t as direct or impactful as simply bending steel with his bare hands.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Peng Qing became incredibly excited. The only thing on his mind were the words "his illness can be cured." He excitedly grabbed Wang Jian’s arm. "Can my son’s illness really be cured?"
This lifeline had suddenly become real, and Peng Qing, fearing he had misheard, asked repeatedly for confirmation.
Upon getting an affirmative from Wang Jian, Peng Qing’s eyes welled with tears. At that moment, things like Qi Cultivation were the furthest from his mind.
"As long as it cures him, as long as it lets him live, I’ll agree to anything you say, Doctor Wang."
Peng Qing said, his voice choked with emotion, "It’s just becoming your disciple, right? I accept on his behalf! Is there anything I need to prepare?"
Saying so, Peng Qing even took out his checkbook, tore out a check, and signed his name. "Master Wang, this is a check with the amount left blank. Please take it for now. Consider it a discipleship gift. As long as what you said about curing him is true, you can have my company, Ali Technology."
