Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL]-Chapter 485: Locked Out of Heaven For Too Long
[KOSTA]
"It’s all my fault," Kosta said as he stared at the king, the defeat on his face not making it any easier for him.
He was sick of feeling sick.
Of felt so weak and helpless that he didn’t know which direction he was supposed to take at this point.
The universe was slinging life in front of him and taking it right back like that was tonight they needed. Like that was what Kosta needed, and it was exhausting on so many scales.
"Konstantin..."
"I can’t save him without killing her. And even if I kill her, there’s no telling whether this will all stop," Kosta said hoarsely.
The king was at a loss for words. There was nothing heartwarming for him. Nothing about this was comforting for the kids either, and he knew that anything he said now would just be another excuse, and frankly, even he was sick of the walls.
Yilena had done what Yilena had done, and the king himself was so blinded by love that he tried to eliminate Sanji in the initial days.
Maybe that would have saved his son the agony.
Maybe it would have made his son’s life better, and even then, maybe it would have been easier for Konstantin to love his son.
But now, they were way past all the possible scales of regret, and there wasn’t what they could say or view that would make this any better.
Gods, they were fucked.
"I promised him happiness, you know... when I convinced him to come home with me. I promised him that home was safer. That his father was the king, and no king would let his prince suffer.
"I promised him that Kawai was safe for him. That Kawai loved him as a whole. That Kawai would pick up arms for him and defend him. Funny how the only time Kawai ever picked up arms these past years was for me, and never for him.
"What have I made of us?" Kosta sighed, closing his eyes. His fists were clenched, and even as he contemplated what he was supposed to do next, there was no perfect outline.
There was nothing that screamed love and mercy right now.
"You made him happy, kid. You kept him safe. The only thing that got to hurt him wasn’t because you didn’t love him enough, Konstantin. You loved him more than anything anyone had ever thought possible. And they used that against you.
"You loved each other. Always have. You both have been to hell and back, and you still love each other even to this moment. Don’t blame yourself for being a good Erasthai. Besides, the only reason he picked up arms wasn’t because of you.
"It was because you are the most precious thing in his life, and everyone wants you. They want the omega who managed to reach the heart of the prince, not knowing that yours is a love forged in the purest of intentions, not games that anyone could play.
’Tamiko will be okay, I promise it. For now, we just wait for him to wake up, but he will be fine. I won’t let my son die. And I don’t intend to break my promise to your sister," the king said with pride.
Kosta stared like he was not sure what to make of that.
He had been loved by the trio for years, but he had somewhat been expecting that the king would be angry at him or even ask him to leave. Zaffuto just looked at him like a father would a son.
And that was comfortable because the king was against him, too; he wouldn’t survive the wait for Tamiko. That much he was sure of.
"I hate this... watching him suffer for something that I have no power over. Something that I can’t even release him from with any deaths, because that won’t even be enough. Has love always been this complicated, uncle?" Kosta sighed.
Zaffuto chuckled at the last bit.
He could see how shattered the Lycan Chief was, and he hoped that all would be alright eventually.
Of course, Zaffuto had promised that Tamiko would be fine.
However, what he didn’t tell the Lycan chief was the fact that he was considering sacrificing his lifeline to save his son. Because a life had to be given to break it.
That someone strong would need to trade their life to break the curse and the ultimatum altogether.
He couldn’t tell Kosta because he had seen the way the kid was so devastated because of Tamiko.
He couldn’t add to his troubles.
Not when there was still so much that he wasn’t sure of himself. But one thing that he was certain of was that he was more than already to trade his life for his son’s.
"Go to him, Konstantin. You know you want to. I won’t stand in your way," the king said, and Kosta let out a sigh of relief. Gods, this was the hardest thing he had ever had to do, but at least he was alone in this.
Pushing the door he had just walked out of moments ago, Kostantin paused.
He was never going to get used to the sight that was waiting for him. He would never get used to his motionless Erasthai holding on to dear life there. It was something that reminded him of how weak he alone was against all these.
With the new information about the curse and what it did to the ultimatum, Kostantin only had one hope.
That Tamiko would wake up and be safe.
It was a long stretch for him, but he had been dealing with so much in the past few days. He hated that his erasthai hadn’t even woken up to reprimand him about the kids he had killed.
But he was way past that now.
All he wanted was Tamiko.
And as he walked in, the sound of the door closing softly behind him hit his ears. Kosta swallowed back a sob.
He had been holding on, too.
Trying to keep himself together for both their sakes, but it wasn’t overworking because his rage and guilt seemed to be fighting each other, forcing him into the position he didn’t even know how to get out of.
He was angry that Sanji had fucked them both over twice and even wondered what Sanji had to have done to get them to that position, too. But he was also guilty of not being a critical thinker over the years and choosing Sanji.
Kosta knew that Sanji was a Furfante. An enemy of the state, and yet in his anger toward Tamiko, he had cost them both peace, something that Kosta wasn’t even sure he would ever find a way out of with ease.
"Krushka... Love was supposed to make us happy, but look at ours, my soul. It has us clinging onto shit that I don’t even understand anymore. It hurts that you’re not even awake to see all this," Kosta growled slowly in defeat.
Before he could think about letting his anger go another way, he punched the nearest wall. The palace walls were made of stone, a foundation so strong, and yet when Kosta punched through a wall, there was a hole there.
The sound of stones falling to the side wasn’t even a bother for him.
He needed Tamiko to wake up.
Even if just for the noise and the chaos of the Lycan chief, who was slowly losing his damn mind.
