Chapter 474: Of Grieving Barbarians & The Fall of Grealor [2]

[GREALOR]

For years, Gabriel had been the star of Grealor, the warrior who was never bested. He had been the heart and soul of a pack that had grown so respected and whose match was only ever Kawai.

He should have been careful with what he did, because the kingdom that he was almost a match for was on its way to hunt them down.

To keep the promise of destruction that they had sworn on the battlefield, right where the Grealor allies and warriors had been eliminated.

It was the most shameful for Gabriel, and just like every other day, he had regrets for not being kinder to Tamiko. For not loving the outcast and not being as expressive as he wished to be with the prince.

Gabe had known of Tamiko’s royal lineage, yet it hadn’t affected him in any way. It was as if he wanted to prove to himself that he was better.

And in doing so, he had created the craziest enemy for himself.

An enemy who didn’t care about rules and mercy.

One who didn’t care if the sun was high or if the sun was just coming out.

This was the enemy he shouldn’t have made, but it was way too long for him to be having any regrets. He had fucked up, and he was paying the price for it. Oh, but if only he could turn back time.

"We’ll kill them all and avenge our fallen," Ciel said confidently. You would think that he knew what had transpired on the battlefield a week ago, but then he hadn’t been there.

He had heard the stories and sensed the outcome, and yet even that didn’t seem to scare him.

It was as if he was determined to get vengeance for Judd’s death, but would it ever be worth it when the lord Sadako was the one who had eliminated the judge in mere seconds?

Would it ever be easy like that, or would it just be a bother day for them here?

Perhaps that was the only dream left, and perhaps it was the only thing that they needed to understand. But time was not on their side. There were already screams in the air from the wolves of Grealor.

The Lycans were here.

The Kawaians were here.

And boy did they come with a vengeance.

"No..." Gabe shook violently as he saw who was coming.

It was as if he had opened a portal of doom, and the entire universe had bent to the will of the most barbaric creature that had ever lived. The one that came with the promise of doom, one that would never miss, and Gabriel was the target.

This was hell.

Gabriel was officially certain of that.

"Igor Konstantin?" Mika asked as he saw the worst of barbarians smirking at her, his face mastering hers as if he had known the different ways to disfigure it and reshape it into something else.

Something worse than what his barbarians were already doing.

And Mika stared as she had never seen such cruelty on a face that wasn’t even covered in blood yet. It was the kind that she had never seen before, and the fact that this was the man who had come for them was sickening to the core.

This was the end of the road, and they had to have known it because Zakhar tried to step in front of Mika, but there was no use for that. It was never going to work. Not in their favor anyway.

"Are those children screaming?" Zakhar, ever the kind warrior, asked when he heard screams, and his world went quiet.

Of all the things that had been expected, women and children being killed were not part of any plan. Never the women and children. And that as the barbarians struck down everything in their way, as they burned down the people of Grealor to ashes.

It was a fucked-up explanation, and it didn’t even make any of this better.

It was as if the worst had been summoned, and everyone needed to take a breather because at the end of the day, there wasn’t a thought that could be done about this. It made no sense.

What the heck was even coming for them?

"What did we do..." Mika breathed in defeat, the realization of the consequences staring back at them.

Then again, it was almost stupid for them to believe that there would be mercy when Tamiko had murdered his best friend’s family because they had broken his heart and betrayed him.

They should have seen the signs, but maybe they thought that Tamiko was just being rebellious. When Tamiko had just been trying to survive Grealor and all that Grealor had come with.

They should have practiced kindness, not the cruelty that was now being returned to them like novelty. This was madness, and they had been the ones to trigger it all.

Gods, was it the worst day for them all?

Now, thirteen years after Tamiko had left home, Igor Konstantin and his barbarians were back at their gates, breaking down their walls and killing everyone who was in their way. It was the cruelest bit of karma that was staring back at them.

And before Gabe could say a word to Igor Konstantin, the chief barbarian spoke, and boy was he a raging barbarian. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Burn them all!! Leave no one alive!!" Igor shouted, while his eyes held Mika’s gaze.

It was almost hilarious how he was focused on the most useless and weakest warriors in Gabe’s team, but perhaps that was the message.

The reminder that no matter what happened, there would never be peace until the retribution was done with.

"I’ll kill him," Ciel volunteered bravely, his hold on his word tight as he rushed to where Igor was. However, before he could even reach the barbarian, Ciel was burned to ashes, a fate similar to that of his mate, Judd.

It was the most unexpected of things, but then soon enough, Grealor was burning.

The barbarians were killing everyone, exploding everyone, blasting their magic fireballs all over like they had the goal to make sure that everyone in the underground bunkers of Grealor wouldn’t survive.

And it was not the reality that Gabe had imagined he would survive.

Hell, the man was too shocked to say a word to Igor Konstantin.

Maybe he would have tried to bargain, but how the fuck as struck a bargain with a man whose only order was to burn down everyone and everything within the walls of Grealor??

"You were never mine to kill, Gabriel Grealor, but we’re running out of time, and someone has to do something," Igor said as he walked into where Zakhar, Mika, and Gabriel were standing.

Zakhar shielded his mate, but Akila’s spear struck them both dead.

The spear went right through Zakhar’s heart and into Mika’s heart, too. The warriors were dead before they bit the ground, and Akila turned them to ashes in that instant, too.

It was as if to tell the Chief barbarian that they had come for one thing only, and they didn’t have time for any discussions.

Well, it was a damning message, but it was one that had Gabe staring coldly and losing like this was really the first time he was truly losing.

"You’ll deal with him, Chief... or should I?" a bloodied Akila asked.
