Chapter 219: Peng Xiu acting pitiful

Just when Agent Shen thought the issue was over and he could report to Peng Xiu, he noticed movement in the black car parked along the street. His heart skipped a beat as he saw Han Xin and his cousin step out.

Swearing under his breath, he slid further down in his seat, trying to remain unseen. He hadn’t realized Han Xin was so close to Xiang Yu, but it was clear now that their bond was stronger than he had thought.

Agent Shen had expected no more surprises, but he was wrong. He watched as Xiang Yu, the two girls, and his apprentice emerge from the building and got into the car with Han Xin and Han Zhan. The group drove off, flanked by security vehicles. Agent Shen’s eyes widened in shock. The scene was surreal, and he struggled to process everything he had witnessed. The street returned to its deceptive calm, but he wasn’t calm at all. He had a lot to report to Peng Xiu.

After the shock wore off, Agent Shen took a deep breath and pulled out his phone. His fingers trembled slightly as he dialled Peng Xiu’s number. The events he had just witnessed were still fresh in his mind, and he knew he had to report everything accurately.

Meanwhile, Peng Xiu was in her luxurious apartment overlooking the city. She lounged on her plush couch, wrapped in a silk nightgown, a face mask covering her skin. Beside her was a body pillow adorned with Han Xin’s face, which she was gently rubbing with a look of obsession in her eyes. The soft glow of the television illuminated the room, casting a romantic ambience as a drama played in the background.

She took a sip of her iced coffee, savouring the moment. The main characters on the screen were dancing in the rain, their love story unfolding beautifully. Peng Xiu leaned into the body pillow, her voice a soft whisper. "One day... one day it will be us. We will dance in the rain just like them."

Just as she closed her eyes, lost in her daydream, her phone rang. The sudden sound jolted her back to reality. She glanced at the caller ID and saw Agent Shen’s name. Her heart skipped a beat, anticipation and excitement bubbling up inside her. She quickly answered the call, her voice steady but eager. "Did he get arrested or is he... dead?" she asked, her tone laced with anticipation.

Agent Shen froze for a moment, not knowing how to respond. He nervously rubbed his thigh, feeling the weight of her expectations. "No, he was not arrested... neither is he dead," he finally managed to say.

Peng Xiu’s face darkened, the smile on her lips freezing in place. Her throat bobbed as she swallowed down her rising anger. How could Xiang Yu be this lucky? How could that old bitch mess up the plan and fail to squash Xiang Yu? The more Agent Shen spoke, the angrier she became. "Explain," she demanded, her voice cold and sharp.

Agent Shen took a deep breath and recounted the events in detail. He described the Die clan’s attack on the tattoo shop, the explosion, and the subsequent arrival of the police. He explained how Xiang Yu and his companions had left the scene unscathed, driving off with security.

Peng Xiu listened in silence, her grip tightening on the phone. Each word from Agent Shen felt like a dagger, deepening her frustration. She had been so sure that this time, Xiang Yu would be out of her way for good. But once again, he had slipped through her fingers. "Who helped him?" she asked.

Agent Shen seemed hesitant to speak but he finally mentioned Han Xin’s name. When she heard that Han Xin was there, her grip tightened around the cup, causing the iced coffee to spill over her silk nightdress. She didn’t even notice the cold liquid soaking through the fabric. Her voice strained, she finally let out an "Understood," before hanging up the phone.

With deliberate calm, she rose from the couch, her movements graceful despite the turmoil inside her. "It’s fine... it’s fine," she murmured to herself. A chuckle escaped her throat as she ran her fingers through her hair, the sound growing louder and more unhinged. A crazed look soon appeared on her face, and she began to laugh even harder, the sound echoing through the apartment.

Suddenly, she snapped. Her laughter turned into a scream of rage as she started throwing things around the room. Vases shattered against the walls, picture frames crashed to the floor, and books were flung across the room. She moved like a whirlwind, breaking everything in her path, not caring that others might hear her.

She couldn’t fathom why Xiang Yu was so lucky. Why did he always manage to escape her plans? The thought drove her to the brink of madness. She continued her rampage, her breath coming in ragged gasps, her eyes wild with fury. The once pristine apartment was now a scene of chaos, reflecting the storm inside her.

Finally, exhausted and surrounded by the wreckage of her outburst, Peng Xiu sank to the floor. Her chest heaved as she tried to catch her breath, her mind racing with thoughts of revenge. She wouldn’t let that bastard win. She had to go. She had to go and find Han Xin. She pushed things around frantically looking for her phone. She had to call Han Xin. frёewebnoѵēl.com

She had to talk to him. She found her phone underneath a cracked face and picked it up her fingers trembling. The screen was cracked but it could still work. She unlocked it with her pin since her biometric scanner wasn’t working anymore. She dialled Han Xin’s number making sure to fix her hair and wipe away her tears and snort with the back of her hand.

She gathered herself, and when the call was picked up, she let out a soft whimper. She sounded so pitiful it would stir anyone’s heart. "Hello, Xin-ge... I just got home and someone trashed my place. I am so scared."

Everyone in the car, "..."

Xiang Yu: Glares angrily at the stereo.

Han Xin: Brow arched confused.
