Chapter 207: Play fighting

AN: One Chapter today, I needed a break. I will make up tomorrow. Thank you.

Xiang Yu tied the belt of his judo suit with practised ease, the blue fabric contrasting sharply against his pale skin. He glanced at himself in the mirror of the home gym, a rare smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Blue might just be his colour, he mused. Running his fingers through his hair, he noted how the short style framed his face well, though he still preferred the freedom of his long hair. Perhaps he would grow it out again while he was in this world.

As he admired his reflection, the door creaked open, and Han Xin stepped in. His footsteps faltered as he caught sight of Xiang Yu, who was lost in his own thoughts. Han Xin’s breath hitched, mesmerised by the sight before him. Xiang Yu’s appearance was nothing short of dazzling, a magnet for attention wherever he went. It was no wonder he was so popular.

Xiang Yu bent down, stretching his muscles, and Han Xin quickly averted his gaze, feeling a flush of heat rise to his cheeks. When Xiang Yu straightened up, he caught Han Xin’s reflection in the mirror. Turning around, he greeted him with a calm, "You are here."

Without missing a beat, Xiang Yu adopted a fighting stance, his eyes narrowing with determination. "Hurry up, let’s get this over and done with. I have plans," he said, his voice carrying a hint of impatience.

Han Xin stepped forward, mirroring Xiang Yu’s stance. "With who?" he asked, his voice edged with a suppressed anger that now threatened to surface. The smell of gunpowder was intense in the atmosphere. All it would take would be one spark for a firestorm to erupt.

"Young master Han, aren’t you a little too curious?" replied Xiang Yu with an amused smile. He had fought with Han Xin before in the previous world, so he didn’t mind going at it again. In fact, he was so excited.

Han Xin chose not to respond to that question. Instead he said, "Don’t hold back."

"I don’t plan to," Xiang Yu replied, his tone equally resolute.

The well-lit home gym soon echoed with the rhythmic thuds of feet on the mat and the heavy breathing of two men locked in combat. Xiang Yu and Han Xin circled each other, their eyes locked in a silent challenge. The air was thick with tension, each movement calculated and precise.

In a blur of motion, Han Xin lunged forward, his hands gripping Xiang Yu’s heavy jacket with practised ease. With a swift twist of his hips, Han Xin executed a perfect hip throw, sending Xiang Yu crashing onto the mat. The impact reverberated through Xiang Yu’s body, a sharp pain shooting up his back. He swore under his breath, knowing that Han Xin was not holding back.

Xiang Yu gritted his teeth, seething in anger. Han Xin really dared to push him hard. He pushed himself up, his eyes narrowing with determination. He couldn’t afford to lose focus. "What are you so angry about?" Xiang Yu asked, his voice edged with frustration.

"I am not angry," Han Xin replied, his tone flat and unconvincing.

"Really?" Xiang Yu shot back, disbelief colouring his words.

As they engaged again, Xiang Yu attempted a shoulder throw, but Han Xin countered effortlessly, his strength and skill evident in every move. Xiang Yu’s frustration grew, but he forced himself to stay calm, searching for an opening. "How dare you say that you are not angry," he muttered, his voice low and intense.

Han Xin didn’t reply, his focus unwavering as they continued to confront each other.

Xiang Yu finally saw his chance. He feinted to the left, drawing Han Xin’s guard, then swiftly pivoted to the right, hooking his leg behind Han Xin’s knee in a minor inner reap. For a brief moment, Xiang Yu felt the thrill of gaining the upper hand as Han Xin stumbled. But it was fleeting. Han Xin recovered quickly, his expression darkening with rising anger.

With a powerful surge, Han Xin grabbed Xiang Yu’s arm and pulled him into a tight arm entanglement. Xiang Yu struggled, his muscles straining against Han Xin’s iron grip, but it was no use. Han Xin’s strength was overwhelming. With a final, forceful twist, Han Xin slammed Xiang Yu back onto the mat, pinning him down.

The sound of their laboured breathing filled the room, mingling with the dull thuds of their bodies hitting the mat. Xiang Yu lay there, his chest heaving, his mind racing. He knew he had been outmatched, but the fire in his eyes remained undimmed. He was excited. freewebnøvel.com

"Have you vented it all out now?" Xiang Yu asked, his voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through him.

Han Xin breathed heavily before asking, "Who are you loyal to?"

Xiang Yu wanted to laugh. He had thought that Han Xin’s anger stemmed from something personal, perhaps even jealousy. But it turned out Han Xin was worried about his loyalty just like the Divine Emperor said. Xiang Yu wanted to make a joke, but looking into Han Xin’s eyes, he saw the seriousness there. He couldn’t bring himself to make light of the situation.

"I am only loyal to you, Master Han," Xiang Yu said, his voice sincere. "I will only serve you in this life and the next."

Han Xin was shocked, seeing the sincerity in Xiang Yu’s eyes. He felt as if Xiang Yu was confessing his feelings to him. Breathing heavily, he stared at Xiang Yu, the weight of the moment settling between them.

Xiang Yu’s eyes were unwavering as he spoke, "If you like, we can make a blood pact. If I break it, you can kill me. I won’t fight back."

Han Xin’s breath caught in his chest. "Is your life worth this little to you?" he asked, his voice a mix of disbelief and concern.

Xiang Yu’s expression was serious. "No, this is why I will keep my promise."

Han Xin was about to respond when a light tap echoed on the glass walls of the gym. Both men turned their heads towards the sound. Han Zhan had just returned from the office. As soon as the meeting ended, he rushed to the seaside villa upon hearing that Han Xin was no longer at the Han mansion. He arrived just as Peng Xiu did. She had come to the office to report, only to find Han Xin absent, prompting her to drive to the villa as well.

Han Zhan wanted to ask Peng Xiu what she was doing there, but he wasn’t in the mood to deal with her. He asked the butler where Han Xin was and was directed to the gym. Han Zhan walked briskly around the house, with Peng Xiu trailing behind, her heels clanking on the stone path.

"Wait for me," Peng Xiu called out, but Han Zhan’s strides only grew longer. Peng Xiu gritted her teeth and hurried after him.

"You know it’s not proper for an unmarried woman to always come to a bachelor’s home," Han Zhan remarked his tone light but pointed.

"It’s my job," Peng Xiu retorted.

Han Zhan chuckled. "You are so dedicated, it’s as though you’re getting paid for overtime."

"At least I don’t mooch off him, living in his house with no rent," Peng Xiu shot back.

Han Zhan didn’t have time to reply as they reached the gym. Inside, the tension between Xiang Yu and Han Xin was palpable. Han Xin’s eyes were still locked on Xiang Yu, the weight of his earlier words hanging in the air.

Han Zhan was shocked by the scene inside the gym as he looked through the glass wall. Xiang Yu, clad in a half open judo suit, was pinned down by Han Xin, the two of them staring at each other intensely. Han Zhan tapped on the glass wall, his voice filled with confusion. "What the...?"

He knew they were fighting, but why did the scene look so ambiguous? Peng Xiu caught up, her eyes narrowing as she took in the sight. Her blood seethed with anger, her fists clenching at her sides. Why was it always Xiang Yu? Why was he here again?

Han Xin was about to get up when Xiang Yu pulled him down, whispering, "You should watch who you associate with." At this angle, it looked like they were incredibly close. Better yet, it looked like they were... kissing. Han Zhan’s eyes widened in disbelief. His cousin Han Xin, who disliked being close to anyone, was now in such proximity to Xiang Yu. It was simply unbelievable.

Han Xin felt the hot breath on his ear and swallowed involuntarily. Xiang Yu’s words were serious, but his brain felt like it had been set on fire. He hurriedly got up, his face flushed. "You better remember your word," he said before storming out of the gym, leaving Xiang Yu sitting on the ground with a smug smile.

Han Zhan stood there, stunned by the intensity of the scene he had just witnessed. Peng Xiu on the other hand was extremely jealous. A darkness she hid deeply within rose in her chest and a voice she had long buried deep resurfaced. She had to kill him. She had to use whatever means to get rid of him. He couldn’t be allowed to stay next to her sweetheart. Her oath as a righteous law enforcement officer had long been thrown out of the window. It didnt matter what deal she had to make, she would do it as long as she could get rid of him.
