Yujun’s POV

It makes sense why father called for me now.

Putting two and two together always lead back to the same thing.

It’s no surprise but it still hurts every time. Hearing from Taeho that my clan launched an attack on the Hwangs makes me realize why they need me, their ’alpha’ heir and the brain in charge Choi’s overtaking strategy.

"Shit" Jaehyun curses as he jumps out of the bed to open the door.

I sit there frozen.

Why does this happen every time? Every sweet moment with him is followed by something chaotic.

How long can we keep acting like we aren’t joking about dangerous things?

Every single thing around us is a reminder that Jaehyun and I are nothing but a time bomb waiting to go off. I need to get out of here as fast as possible.

"What did you say?" Jaehyun asks at the door as Taeho pushes his way in, "why is he here?" the alpha snarls at me aggressively, I also glare at him with all the iciness I can muster, maintaining the calmness that is costing me my entire heart.

"Taeho" Jaehyun calls his friend tiredly, "Jaehyun what the fuck is going on? Why is an enemy in your fucking bed?" Taeho asks and Jaehyun grabs him by the elbow to stop him from coming into the room further.

"Taeho, I am the one you should be addressing" Jaehyun says, "I have no interest in addressing anything but the fact that you are fucking a disgusting enemy in our own safe haven" Taeho snaps at Jaehyun angrily.

"We’ve been over this before, Who I bring into my family’s home is my fucking business, you will respect me and respect him, Taeho" Jaehyun says loudly and Taeho freezes on the spot, surprised at the response he is receiving.

"You will regret it, you will regret bringing this snake into your home" Taeho says to Jaehyun, "I’m warning you" Jaehyun growls and Taeho yanks his arm out of Jaehyun’s hold.

Taeho looks at me with his eyes wild and full of bitter anger, "I never knew the Chois were this dirty, their alpha is submitting himself to be fucked by an enemy" Taeho sneers at me and Jaehyun lands a punch on his face.

"Stop it!" Jaehyun roars and his friend throws a punch in return, I stay immobile on the bed, watching in surprise as the two of them fight with their eyes red .

"I swore to look after you as a brother, I won’t let you destroy yourself like this!" Taeho says as he grabs Jaehyun by the collar and pulls him to his body with force, "you are starting to forget what brotherhood looks like, Taeho" Jaehyun yells at him before he pushes Taeho away from him.

"No, I didn’t forget but if this is what you have been doing all along, I am willing to forget it all. I told you about the murder attempt on him and you saved him?" Taeho asks and bursts into laughter.

Jaehyun gives a low warning growl, different from the roars, the growl this time around is deep and territorial, a clear marking of boundaries.

The sound makes my back straighten, my omega recognizing the authority of a pack Alpha. In front of me I see Taeho’s face mask of anger flicker to show a sliver of fear underneath, he is clearly shocked by Jaehyun’s growl but still continues to speak.

"I told you about his disgusting father’s plan to sell his sister to be a fucking breeding slave and you marry her?" he continues with a less aggressive, more cautious but still daring tone.

"Taeho that’s enough" Jaehyun says in a quieter voice, he sounds quiet but the command and power in his voice is chilling.

"I will be with you in a few minutes to talk about the shipment loss" Jaehyun says and nudges his chin towards the door, a polite ’get out’.

Taeho looks at me with disdain one more time before leaving the room.

Just like our last encounter with Taeho at Jaehyun’s apartment, I get up to leave again, "Wait, Yujun, please don’t leave" Jaehyun groans softly and holds my arm, I see him struggling with his alpha to plead instead of demand my attention.

"I have to leave, Jaehyun" I say and he sighs.

"I’m sorry about Taeho, he’s just really protective of me and he’s a good friend...he’s just misunderstanding.." Jaehyun explains in a rush, and I can only nod without words to his statements.

"You’re not going to stay..." he says when he realizes the look on my face.

"You know, you should listen to your own right hand man" I say and climb off the bed, buttoning my shirt as I speak.

"He could be right about me, your shipments are being attacked by my clan after I spent a night here with you" I say without looking at him and he lets out a defeated sigh. I have come to notice that he sighs a lot when he’s exhausted mentally.

"I know you have nothing to do with it" Jaehyun says and I shake my head at him.

"My father called asking me to come home" I say firmly and he releases my hand, "isn’t this a wake up call to snap out of whatever this is?" I ask him, tilting my head to meet his eyes.

"Yujun..." he calls my name, "I am going back home Jaehyun, to my clan, to my family and I am going to answer to my duties as the heir of Choi clan" I say over his voice.

"You don’t have to...you can stay here..." he says and I scoff, "you’re lucky you have good people as your parents, but maybe that’s why you’re this stupid" I say coldly and pick up the hoodie Yeon had given me last night. The hoodie with Jaehyun’s scent.

"Don’t call me" I say as I leave with my face hooded.
