Unscented-Chapter 1188 - 1130 Comforting
Melissa knew Murray had made a grave mistake by keeping this to himself. But that shouldn’t stop her from doing whatever she could do to revive the company.
"What are these plans that were supposed to be implemented that were not?" she asked the assistant. That was where she would start.
"I don’t stay in the meetings. All I do is assist the boss whenever he needs anything. In short, all I knew is there were plans that were not executed" he said remorsefully.
"Who else knows this plan apart from Murray?" Melissa didn’t want to talk to Murray right now. He would be the last person she would talk to about the crisis.
"The sales manager and human resource manager should know a great deal about it" the assistant nodded.
Melissa face gleamed with joy. The company had not really gone beyond surviving.
"We still have sales manager and human resource manager?" she asked happily.
"Not only them, there are some more. Just that they are now too occupied due to staff shortage" the assistant moaned. He leaned closer to Melissa. "You should be grateful to those that stay. They are the only reason why this company is still functioning" he whispered.
"Of course, we will always be grateful to everyone and you" Melissa said cleverly.
"Do not worry about me" the assistant smiled broadly.
"Please, get all the people that are still here in every department. Tell them to come to my office" she requested.
"They will be here as soon as possible" he went out of her office.
Few minutes later, everyone had gathered in Melissa’s office.
"I will first like to thank you for your support. I was surprised to know all what I saw when I came. No one briefed me. The company was almost out of business but you stay and put your trust in us. I’m very grateful for that" she announced.
All the staffs murmured indinstinctly like an acknowledgement.
"So, the assistant told me there were plans on ground to tackle all our problems" she set the ball rolling.
The human resource manager stepped forward.
"Our main income is from the entertainers that we recruited. I’m very sure you know about a case of an entertainer that deceived investors with our name" he paused for her response.
Melissa nodded affirmatively.
"Mr Murray had set some guidelines for us to recruit great entertainers with low budget. The guidelines will also guard against recruiting bad people" he said eloquently.
"I have to think that these guidelines have already being implemented" Melissa commented.
"Yes" the human resource manager replied quickly "Though it is slowing down our recruitment, we now check background of entertainer, their criminal records and all that" he concluded.
"Yes, that’s a good one. It is an effective preventive method. I’m sure the issue of dubious entertainer that will tarnish our corporate image will be resolved by that" she mentioned.
"I think it’s time we talk about the most important thing" she moaned. "Money" she scoffed.
The sales manager stepped forward.
"I won’t lie to you. The record in sales at this time is the worst I’ve ever seen and unfortunately unlike human resource department. We have no plan and once we run out of sales and funds, there is nothing else that could save us" he whined sadly.
"The way to tackle a problem is by finding out the root cause" Melissa suggested. "Why are we not making sales? Why is our turnout low?" she asked again.
"The turnout is low because we are not making sales. We are not making sales because the competition is high compared to before the regulation policy. Our entertainers are inferior to our competitors’ entertainers" he explained.
"You mean our problem is caused by the low budget and unpopular entertainer that we are recruiting?" Melissa asked.
She knew he had a point but the solution he was suggesting can not be followed right now.
"To you human resource manager, the entertainers you are recruiting are said to be the cause of low turnout" Melissa turned to face him.
"Those few unpopular entertainers that we managed to get was not an easy task. We have two problems. The entertainer that duped the investors has spoiled our reputations. Popular entertainers were avoiding us. The few that are ready to work with us. We couldn’t pay the prices they named" he complained.
"I don’t know much about recruitment but I’m sure we will make better sales if we prove in that aspect" the sales manager added.
"Yes, the only thing we can do now, is to train our entertainers well enough to compete with those popular entertainers" Melissa suggested.
"We have thought about that but we will need a lot of funds to do that" the human resource manager replied her.
"Do you have an estimation of the amount the training could cost us?" Melissa asked him again.
"I can provide one before closing" the human resource manager assured her.
Melissa stared at the staffs like she was looking for a particular someone. The staffs were wondering who she was looking for.
"Do we still have a public relations department?" she finally asked.
"Yes" the public relation officer stepped forward.
"Mr PRO" Melissa joked. "We need funds and you are the only one who could save us" she told him.
"I am a public relations officer not an accountant" he replied awkwardly.
"We don’t need accountant right now. They are only needed when we started making enough money for them to calculate" she smiled.
"What do you want me and my subordinates to do?" the public relations officer asked.
"We have two problems which was caused by one problem. Our corporate image has been tarnished. You need to wash that clean. We need funds. There are rich people out there, potential investors. Fish them out and get them for us" Melissa stated clearly. "Can I trust you? And there is no find to support you right now" she asked calmly.
"Do not worry, I will do the job accordingly" the public relations officer promised. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Melissa imagined a rapid success. That would revive the company in no time.
"Now Murray can relax" she muttered to herself and dismissed the staffs
