Unscented-Chapter 1033 - 975 An Incompetent Man.
Harley really didn’t want to pester Nina,but he was worried that True would be left alone since Nina was still sad.
"I’ll stay with you for a while.I’ll leave the moment Tom arrives."Harley said indifferently.He kept True on the bed and changed her diaper.
Tom had to work overtime for two hours today,in order not to loose his job.Nina called him,informing him not to bother coming over.
Harley was glad that Tom would arrive at the hospital two hours later because of his work.He hoped that Tom would listen to Nina and not show up the entire night.
Nina was to be discharged the following day,no matter where she would live,Tom had no reason to bother her.
With the thought of Nina leaving the hospital crossing his mind,Harley wanted to be certain of Nina’s safety.
"After you’ll be discharged tomorrow,let’s move to the La Villa Nova,we could decorate a beautiful child room for True."Harley said in a bid to capture her attention.
"I booked an hotel already"Nina muttered still staring into space.
"What?"Harley was stunned.
"It’s so not convenient for you to live in a hotel with your daughter,the space is too small."He tried persuading her.
"True is only four months old.When she begins crawling,can she crawl up and down in the hotel."
"And when she starts eating chocolates,she can’t go get one in the kitchen of the restaurant."Harley analyzed the disadvantages of the hotel from different angles,hoping that Nina would trash the idea.
"I won’t stay in the hotel for a long time."Nina replied indifferently.
Harley scowled and asked curiously.
"Where do you plan on going?"
Nina didn’t inform Harley that she planned on relocating to London after her parent’s funeral.
"Let’s talk about it later,I really don’t want to talk to anymore."Nina replied wearily.
"You can lie down and sleep for a while."Harley suggested,he made to caress her hair,but she subconsciously dodge his hand.
Harley went to the hall way,he sat looking at the close door of the ward,he began blinking his eyelid trying to fight the urge to sleep.
He had barely slept since Nina was hospitalized.He only slept for two to three hours each night while writing his books.
Tom saw his boss leaving the company.He swiftly turned off his computer and exited the building.
He planned on working two hours extra tonight,but it was just thirty minutes into the first hour.
Tom immediately rushed to the hospital,he met Harley resting on a chair with his hand on his chin.
Seeing that Harley was still there,Tom kicked the leg of the chair.The chair shook violently,and Harley suddenly woke from his slumber.
Harley frowned the moment he saw Tom.
"What are you doing here?"Harley questioned angrily.Tom ignored his question,but rather shoved his phone into his face.
Knowing that Tom was reminding him that his time was up,Harley rolled his eyes at him and said
"Are you blaming me for you being late?,There must be someone around Nina.You should’ve known that by that."
"I’m right on time."Tom argued.
Harley stared at him with disdain.The two were about to indulge in a verbal banter,but in order not to offend Nina,they restrained themselves in time.
After Harley left,Tom went into the ward,he met Nina resting on the bed,he greeted her and said apologetically,
"Nina,I’m sorry to have kept you waiting."
Nina’s face was expressionless,she replied calmly,
"Tom,I’ve caused you alot of inconveniences this past few days.You don’t have to come from tomorrow.
"Why?,I promise I will keep to time."Tom thought Nina was angry because he had arrived late.
Seeing the nervous look on Tom’s face,Nina gave a faint smile and muttered,
"That’s not the reason.I’ll be discharged tomorrow."
He breathed a sigh of relief,glad that the reason wasn’t because he had displeased her.
"Oh,really?,Where would you live then?"
"Stay in an hotel for the time being."Nina responded,as silence followed.
Tom ruminated on requesting a leave from his boss.Although the was a high probability that his request would be rejected,if he bent on something,he most likely would go for it.
"Nina?"Tom called out breaking the silence,
"What time will you be discharged tomorrow?,I’ll request a leave from my boss to come pick you up."
Nina shook her head and replied in a softer tone,
"No,don’t,It took you so long to find a suitable Job.Don’t risk losing your job for my sake."
She really didn’t want her misfortune to affect others.Especially Tom,he had no one to rely on in this city,and the only thing he could count on,was his own efforts.
"You’re more important to me than any job."Tom corrected her.The more he pondered about it,the more worried he felt.
But what could be do?The hotel was way better than his rented apartment.He was an Incompetent man,all he had was a sincere heart.
Thinking of his shabby broken bedroom floor,Tom didn’t want Nina suffering such with him.If only he had a new and spacious house.
"Harley would transport me to the hotel."Nina politely declined.
Harley again!
Tom loured.
But he couldn’t protest,he had to reluctantly agree.
At midnight,Lily couldn’t stop calling Tom.When the call had connected,Tom asked anxiously,
"Lily,what’s up?"
His impatience and alienation were obscure and pretty obvious,even to Lily.
"I’m on my period,and I’m experiencing stomach cramps,can you please come back...mmh!"Lily pretended to groan in pain.
Tom was answering the call in the hallway.He stopped by the window to look at the beautiful sky which was filled with stars.He reminded her soothingly,
"Cook some ginger soup and drink,I’ll be back tomorrow night to take care of you."
"Tomorrow night?,How about Tonight?"Lily’s voice cracked in disappointment.She suspected that Tom didn’t even consider her as much as he did to Nina’s hair.
"My period is coming.I have a stomachache.Can you come back..."
"My stomach really hurts"Lily cried.Although it was just a lie,she wanted deceiving him to come home.
"I’m really sorry Lily.I can’t leave Nina tonight."Tom muttered with a sigh.
"Forget it.You don’t have to come back"Lily hung up disappointedly.Her hatred for Nina grew even more.She wondered why she hadn’t burnt to death.
