Chapter 57: Chapter 57 Old Friends Meet

"Go look it up online. You’ll understand once you see it," Liu Shilin said, her beautiful eyes glancing at Lin Kuang.

"Ahem, Shilin, I have some things to take care of. I’ll be back later, you two get some rest," Lin Kuang said quickly. He still had to go to Yang Ruoxi’s place, after all. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Oh, go ahead. Just be back early," Liu Shilin replied with a smile.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang made a swift exit.

Just as Lin Kuang left, the little Witch let out a shriek. "Oh my god! Sis, this can’t be real, can it? Is it actually true? That bastard is having an affair with Goddess Bingbing? Good heavens, the world has gone mad!" She had just seen the front-page headline and the intimate photos of Lin Kuang and Fan Bingbing.

"Alright, it’s not what you think," Liu Shilin said with a sigh. She then started to explain the situation to the little Witch, though only the girl herself knew what she was truly thinking.

Lin Kuang was walking along a quiet street. It had just gotten dark, and the occasional cool breeze was quite refreshing. Just then, his phone rang. The caller was none other than Yang Ruoxi.

He quickly answered, "Hello, Ruoxi."

"Runner, you can come over. I’m waiting for you at home," Yang Ruoxi said, her voice tinged with a hint of shyness.

"Oh, alright, I’m on my way. I’ll be there within ten minutes," Lin Kuang said with a laugh.

"Okay, I’ll be waiting for you at home." With that, Yang Ruoxi hung up.

After putting his phone away, Lin Kuang took a deep breath and broke into a run. After all, he had promised to be there within ten minutes. Eight minutes later, he walked into Yang Ruoxi’s villa right on time.

As Lin Kuang entered the room, the little girl, Xinxin, walked over.

"Hello, Auntie’s boyfriend," Xinxin said, acting like a little adult, which made Lin Kuang a bit embarrassed.

"Xinxin, don’t talk nonsense!" Yang Ruoxi came over just then, her face flushed as she pulled Xinxin aside.

A smile touched Lin Kuang’s lips as he saw her, especially the blush on her face, which made him feel quite happy.

"Children speak their minds. It’s fine," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, trying to ease her embarrassment.

"Come and sit. My parents are here. They want to meet you and thank you," Yang Ruoxi said with a red face, seeming rather shy.

Yesterday, after her condition was brought under control, an overjoyed Yang Ruotong had called their parents. So, after handling their affairs bright and early this morning, Yang Ruoxi’s parents had rushed over to meet Lin Kuang. Yang Ruoxi couldn’t refuse, but the whole situation felt like she was introducing a boyfriend to her parents, a thought that made her terribly shy.

"Your parents want to see me?" Lin Kuang paused, a sudden wave of nervousness washing over him. If I’d known, I would have dressed up a bit. This whole situation caught me completely off guard.

"Yes, they’re upstairs. I’ll go get them. You just wait here," Yang Ruoxi said before turning and heading upstairs.

This was a first for Lin Kuang, and he was genuinely nervous, especially since he was quite fond of Yang Ruoxi. Now that her parents were here, he had to at least make a good impression. Otherwise, things could get awkward later on.

At the thought, Lin Kuang felt restless for the first time. The man who wouldn’t even frown when facing thousands of enemies was actually nervous. If his comrades-in-arms found out, they’d laugh him to death!

"Auntie’s boyfriend, don’t worry. Grandpa and Grandma are very nice," the clever little Xinxin piped up.

Hearing her, Lin Kuang felt even more embarrassed. Even a child noticed how nervous I am. How awkward!

Just then, footsteps sounded from the upper floor. A man in his fifties and a beautiful woman in her forties started down the stairs.

The man carried himself with military straightness, like a soldier on inspection. His short hair, speckled with gray, was impeccably neat. His face was sharply chiseled, giving off a resolute impression. His eyes, though not large, shone with a keen light. A high-bridged nose and slightly full lips completed a face that exuded a natural authority.

The beautiful woman beside him looked to be in her forties but was very well-preserved. Her skin was fair and nearly wrinkle-free, save for a few crow’s feet at the corners of her eyes. It was clear she still possessed a mature charm and must have been a first-class beauty in her youth.

When Lin Kuang saw the man, he froze.

The man, upon seeing Lin Kuang, also stopped in his tracks.

The two of them simply stared at each other for a good five seconds.

The next moment, they both saluted sharply.

"Sir!"

"Colonel Lin, long time no see!"

The two spoke almost in unison. Witnessing this, everyone else in the room was stunned, completely unable to grasp what was happening.

"My apologies, I forgot we aren’t in the military. Lin Kuang, have a seat," Yang Wucheng said with a smile, and as he looked at Lin Kuang, his eyes held a clear trace of respect.

Yes, it was respect. Only a true warrior could command the respect of Yang Wucheng, a man of iron and blood—and Lin Kuang was undoubtedly a true warrior.

"Gen—Uncle Yang, please, you sit too," Lin Kuang began, but he swallowed the rest of the title when Yang Wucheng shot him a glare.

Yang Wucheng, Commander-in-Chief of the East Sea Military Region, controlled the entire military might of the East Sea. He was an upright man with a firm hand. The discipline and combat prowess of the East Sea Military Region were all to his credit. Because of this, Yang Wucheng was a prominent figure in the military circles of Hua Country.

Lin Kuang had been fortunate enough to meet him twice. Once, Yang Wucheng’s men had assisted him on a mission; another time, he had helped Yang Wucheng eliminate a group of terrorists. That was how they knew each other, and they held one another in high regard, having developed a sense of camaraderie.

What Lin Kuang hadn’t known was that Yang Ruoxi and Yang Ruotong were Yang Wucheng’s daughters. What an unbelievable coincidence.

"You haven’t returned to Yanjing?" Yang Wucheng asked with a smile, looking at Lin Kuang beside him. He knew a little about what had happened to Lin Kuang in the United States. While he didn’t have all the details, he was aware of the situation.

Hearing the question, Lin Kuang nodded. "No. I wanted some peace and quiet. A friend happened to need my help, so I came over to give him a hand for a while."

Lin Kuang was honest without going into detail.
